The Bombers played a home-and-home with Lycoming and also played Huntingdon last year.

SJF played Kings the past three seasons.  Kings is on par with Lyco and Huntingdon.

My karma is going to tank, but lets be realistic.

I say this IC - Fisher topic needs to be put to bed b/c nobody on here is going to say Fisher is on IC's level right now. Regardless of what has happened since 2002, IC will always live & die with what happened in the late 80's / early 90's, and will always hold that over Fisher Fans heads.

Even if Fisher won a national title, they'd still say the same things b/c they have three (I believe).

May as well let it go gents.

+K actually, as it was a reasonable thing to say.  You will never win the IC fans over, so don't even try!

Sir Spiedie

Winning a National Title is powerful juju. It shuts up alot of people.

fisheralum91

agreed-
the only thing i can equate this to is that fisher is the red sox and ic the yanks.
even if fisher wins a national title ie sox in 04, the yanks still will pull out the 26 and ic the 3

We do have three NCs, 1979, 1988, and 1991.

But its not like IC's success was limited to that short period.

The Bombers have been to 7 Stagg Bowls, which was a record when I left school.  Not sure of MUC has surpassed that yet.  Our three titles are only surpassed by MUC and Augustana.

The first of the Stagg Bowl appearances came in 1974.

The Bombers have had a winning record for 36 consecutive seasons (were 4-4 in 1970).  The second longest streak in college football at any level.

Entering last season IC was the third winningest program in all of Division III behind St. John's (who had a 22 year head start), and Lacrosse

118 All Americans have worn the blue and white.

IC has also won over 400 games, played in 39 playoff games, has an all-time winning percentage in the .650s despite some rough years in the 30s and 40s before the program was discontinued for the war, a winning percentage around .800 all time at Buttefield Stadium/South Hill Field (including a 28-4 mark since 2000).

So yes, it is hard to convince us that Fisher is on par with IC after one solid year and two good years.

Throughout all those seasons there was always a Fisher-like team.  If this team proves to be a longstanding rival, then so be it.  I am just saying it isn't worth talking about for a while.

Seeing as MUC's record is 9-1 in the Stagg bowl I think that record has been broken.  :)

I figured as much but didn't feel like looking it up.

Life Is A Bowl of Perry's (Ice Cream)....Pep would like to nominate "Nutty Business" as "Flavor of the Month." Pep had a "Nutty Business" cone at the Big Dipper in Almond and rates it a 8.7 out of 10 .... for the peanut butter lovers out there.

The Kaz00 family is partial to a cone of Dole Whip when frequenting the Big Dipper.  In great Alfred fashion, the Dip is owned by Pep's cousin, no?

Heh, yeah, Mount Union has won nine of them, so they've passed that.

Not actually true. Linfield is 51-plus, Central had 42 in a row. Baldwin-Wallace had 38 consecutive winning seasons, etc.

Unless you're trying to say that it's the second longest active streak. That may well be correct.

Doesn't matter that St. John's had a 22-year head start. You are quoting winningest by percentage, so number of years is meaningless.

Certainly nobody can take away the past successes of IC's program, or how consistent they've been, but my question is how long can you live in the past?

Can you even talk about Fisher in the same breath as IC in the past, definitely not. But in my mind, the only thing that matters is the present, and I would say that Fisher is on IC's level right now.
