This phrase has no meaning.  What bounds?  I just checked the FAQ and it says nothing about posting solely in the Empire 8.

I never claimed to be an expert in anything.  That is just your insecurity painting me in that light.  Let's face it, if people take my opinions seriously, they won't need you.

I merely posted my opinion and some of the facts I was able to unearth from my memory or via a quick internet search.  Like many posts on these forums they contained inaccuracies.  I am ok with that.  Am I publishing this in a newspaper or something?  Of course not, because "[w]e all learn to write in the second grade, most of us go on to greater things." -Bobby Knight

Viper---quoting bobby k?
thats a bit extreme dontcha think :P

There are few occassions in life when a Bobby Knight quote won't fit the bill.  The above quote happens to be my favorite quote all time.  My second favorite came when a reporter asked him about something that came from 'unnamed sources.'  Knight responded (and, for the sake of accuracy, I am just paraphrasing because I do not have the time to look up the actual quote, I claim no expertise on the exact language of this quote as it is coming strictly from my memory): What is an unnamed source?  Some guy in the hallway just told me you f--k sheep, does he qualify as an unnamed source?

what about being burried upside down?

Yawn. It's when you spouted what you believe -- incorrectly -- to be the NCAA rules and accuse a fellow conference school of breaking them that you overstepped your fake title.

You know this. I guess I need to keep repeating it so you stop painting over what really happened with your own version.

Sorry Pat, but I know this rule because I have run across an issue with it before.  I don't have the rule in front of me but the gist of it says that a school is not allowed to publicize an incoming recruit until the student athlete enrolls.  Paying a deposit does not count as enrollment either.  Because D3 athletes do not sign letters of intent their commitment cannot be publicized by a school until they physically enroll in the fall.

There may, however, be an exception for an in house newsletter.

That's your claim of expertise. We clear now?

I'll be glad to let it go once Viper stops clouding the facts.

Heh, yeah.  You'll be glad when I stop clouding the facts, or if people stop asking about it, or some third reason you haven't thought of yet?  (Guess I can be an "expert" at pushing the quote button too.  **Note, I claim no expertise in pushing the quote button.  I simply note that I have succesfully used the quote button on previous occassions.**).

Just admit that you are threatened by me Johnny Fact Checker.  It is ok.

And, not for nothing, but the quote you pulled from me solidifies the very point I made.  I spoke from my personal experience  (I won't claim to be an expert on the english language but my understanding of "I have run across an issue with this rule before" seems to indicate personal experience instead of expertise), admitted that I did not look up the rule but was operating from my memory ("I don't have the rule in front of me")  and, I even hedged at the end admitting that I wasn't positive ("there may, however, be an exception for an in house newsletter").

Nevertheless I understand the confusion, so let me amend that post (edits in italic):

Sorry Overly Critical Fact Checker that treats writing on an informal message board as if it were a formal proposal before the UN, but I think I remember this rule, though I am not claiming to be an expert on issues involving memory, because I have run across an issue with it before.  I don't have the rule in front of me and am not going to find it because I know if I don't get it right you will gladly jump to my aid to point out any inaccuracies but the gist of it says that a school is not allowed to publicize an incoming recruit until the student athlete enrolls.  Paying a deposit does not count as enrollment either.  Because D3 athletes do not sign letters of intent, something I am frequently reminded of when I read the Daily Dose and FAQs, their commitment cannot be publicized by a school until they physically enroll in the fall.

There may, however, be an exception for an in house newsletter.

Please don't accept my explanation though.  I am in no way an expert on the NCAA rulebook.  Also, in the event you missed my sarcasm when I "accused" alma mater of violating a NCAA rule, I hope you were not offended.  I was merely teasing an inter-conference rival during a slow time of year.  I realize that this is probably overstepping my bounds so I hereby withdraw that statement.

Jose, them's fightin' words!! Journalism is a proud career, even if you don't earn good money doing it. To me, journalism is a passion, it's something I love to do and I know this is just a "stupid message board," but it hurts a little bit to see someone insult someone else just because they made a career choice where they love what they do.

You're a lawyer, right Jose? Wouldn't you be insulted if someone made fun or insulted the choice you made to become a lawyer?

The word "insecurity" was used a few posts back, which I think really hits home the issues that crop up here from time to time.  The is obviously the best Division III football site on the internet.  That being said, its creator seems to need to trash other websites and publication at every chance possible, strip members of titles made mostly is jest, etc... Insecurity is bouncing off the walls.

It reminds me on an RA I had in school.  Probably not the coolest fellow around, but loved his new found power so much that he would write people up who talked too loud in the hallway on a Saturday afternoon.

Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

I get that, Tags. I'm not trying to defend Pat -- God knows he doesn't need my help -- but I read the quote as Jose's way to take a pot shot at people who choose journalism as a career. That's all. I know it wasn't specifically toward me.
