not so rowdy bomber

Hooray to Tommy Glavineads who kobe'd the Kooubs @ Wrigley.  go Mets!

ESPN: "Chicks dig soft-tossing lefties, too."

Caz Bombers

As long as we're on a baseball tangent, Mark Twain might say something to the effect of "rumors of the Yankees' demise have been greatly exaggerated."  Half game out of the WC and still not totally out of Boston's rearview mirror...and looky here, as I type this Robby Cano and The Melkinator continue their smokin hot hitting with the go-ahead RBIs.  Yanks can tie the Tigers with a W today.

Congrats to the ex-Chairman, hope to "see you" on-line for Mead's draft tonight.

You didn't want to stay in San Fran for Barry's record breaker?

We almost stayed out there for good.  What an awesome town.  We had a blast.

We kept ducking into every random hole in the wall bar we could find while the Giants were playing to see where they were in the order.  Saw most of Barry's at bats for the week but missed 755.  I really wanted to be in some random toilet sports bar in SF when he hit 7-5-6.  Too bad they were playing in Yosemite South over the weekend.

Interesting pre-football season topic of debate.  Is Petco too damned big?

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

It's a little smug out there if you ask MIOH.

SF would also make the Butterfield run more difficult... MIOH is glad you'll stinking to your southern roots.

realistic

Nice shout out from Peter King on SI.com...

QuoteOn the artificial-turf football field at St. John Fisher College (as picturesque a campus as you'll see on the training-camp circuit), ...

I know I'll probally get hammered for this, but I definatly think that Fisher has the nicest campus in the E8... I liked the view from Ithaca but all the buildings looked the same

MIOH.  Logic and reason won out.  When you are American by birth and Southern by the Grace of God you don't just up and relocate to the Fog City for a few good bottles of vino.

Plus, the fights between the Mrs. and I over cross-country to trips to Butterfield or The Swamp would be endless.

Some of the buildings at IC are pretty brutal with that 60s architecture.

I still think you are off base.  Seems to me Norwich probably has the inside edge on this crown.

Isn't Fisher's campus really really small?  I never really saw a lot of it but when we had games there it always seemed tiny.

superman57

yes the fisher campus is incredibly small...but what does that have to do with it being nice and having nice ammenities... I'm sure the view in Norwich is great but as far as overall campus...Fisher has the nice sceneray and the great buildings...

and intresting stat... in the 25 games since the allstar break the yankees are averaging 7.6 runs per game... that is pretty sick overall they are at 5.9 runs per game...

BOMBER NEWS UPDATE...

Three Coaches Added To Bomber Staffs

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Three assistant coaches have been added to the Ithaca College coaching staffs: Rob Cushman (football, baseball), Gabe Luvara (football, track & field) and Mark Ross (football, strength and conditioning). The announcement was made by Ken Kutler, Ithaca’s director of intercollegiate athletics and recreational sports.

“We are pleased to have Rob Cushman, Gabe Luvara and Mark Ross join our coaching staff,” Kutler said. “All three coaches bring a wealth of experience to Ithaca College and we look forward to having them work with our student-athletes."

Cushman spent five years as head football coach at Feather River College, serving as the program’s first head coach and leading the team to a 34-21 record. Cushman has also served as head coach at Eastern Oregon (his 1998 team was ranked 24th in the final NAIA poll) and has collegiate coaching experience at Butte Community College and Cal State-Chico.

A graduate of Puget Sound, Cushman was a four-year letter winner helping the Loggers to a ninth-place Division II ranking as a senior. He earned a master’s degree from Cal State-Chico. He will serve as junior varsity baseball coach and coach the receivers with Ithaca’s football staff.

Luvara joins the Bombers after a year as an assistant football coach at Juniata, where he was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Division III Eagles. Luvara, who increased the team’s offense by 108 yards per game, held the same position at Duquesne for a year and worked on the Dukes’ staff for three years.

A 2001 graduate of Indiana (Pa.) where he was an all-conference center, he served as team captain and helped the team to two NCAA Division II playoff appearances. He will coach Ithaca’s offensive linemen.

Ross previously served as an assistant coach with Ithaca’s football program for six seasons, working with the team’s linebackers and defensive lineman. Ross, who will serve as Ithaca’s defensive coordinator, also spent a season as assistant women’s lacrosse coach at Ithaca.

He spent four years as an assistant at East Stroudsburg, coaching the defensive ends and linebackers for the Division II Warriors. He also served as special teams coach for three seasons. A graduate of Penn State, he has also worked at Division I-AA Lafayette.

So, Luvara is Offensive Coordinator..... Ross Defensive Coordinator.... cushman is wide reciever coach...?

http://www.juniata.edu/athletics/football/schedule.html  i think Luvara's school was a JuCo.  They played a lot of good programs though. Any coach coming from California has to have some type of football knowledge.  Isnt California one of the top 5 states for football?  1)Ohio, 2) Texas, 3) Florida, 4) California, 5)PA...

Cushmans school was also a JuCo. http://www.frc.edu/home/sports/football/footballhome.htm  This school does not have as strong a schedule as Juniata.... mind you I have no idea who Butte College is.  They could be the greatest JuCo football team in the USA.

Ross...knows bomber football.

Everyone correct me if this research is wrong.  But, it looks like coach Welch took a chance on his Offense.  It seems like he was searching for young, motivated coaches that want to stay with a program like Ithaca.  Under him these two new offensive guys can learn some stuff and potentially offer some West Coast offense to an already throwing Welch attack.  This should be a fun year in Bomberland.  Plenty of 80 yard bombs.  Then.... BAM BAM BAM!

Hopefully you are just counting and not ranking Dubbz.

If that is a rank you are crazy.  Ohio then Florida.  I'll mail you a tape of the NC game for clarification.

(1) Fla. (2) Calif.  (3) NJ  (4) Texas  (5) Ga. (6) Ohio

superman57

hold on...gotta give texas more props than that... I say 1)Calif 2)Texas 3)all Southern States-including Florida, Alabama, Louisanna, and Georgia 4) New Jersey 5) Pennsylvania 6) Ohio...

Fisher's campus used to take advantage of its small size but now there are just too many bldgs crammed into a small area.  In a vacuum, the stadium and its immediate surroundings are nice, but I do not see how it remotely rivals IC.  Never been to Norwich...but RPI's stadium and its immediate surroundings were always my favorite...alot of character inside the courtyard.

Been a while...how is the E8 doing?
