i can agree with cardinalfwa. its like that for sports in general at IC.  i played two years of jv baseball at IC and i got no slack what so ever.  one teacher even refused to acknowledge any of my excused absences.

cardinalfwa...not sure where your comming from... but all the professors that I have had are ok with you being out for anything as long as you don't take advantage of it and get your work done...this is too anyone who has to be out of class not just the football players

It's also true (at Fisher for sure, not so much at RPI) that a lot of teachers don't give football players any slack. A majority of them dislike the fact that athletes are excused from specific classes and days for games etc and will use it against them or just flat out will stick it to them if they have an assignment due. Fisher may get the jocks in the door but they have to get themselves out.

I had the same problem with professors at NJCU, only I wasn't a football player, just a guitar major.  Many of the professors thought their core requirement or upper level elective was the most important class and more important than ones major.  I used to have to miss classes in the middle of the spring semesters because I was usually involved in the spring musical either in the pit, the cast or working the shows for the department.  The head would send memos to the entire faculty informing them who would be missing class time and the profs still got uptight about it.  I had one actually tell me that if I missed classes to play the Man of Lamancha matinees I could forget about passing.  The head of the music department and the dean of Arts and Sciences had a little talk with her and I passed.

Iceman what is it with PBR? I know a bunch of Ithaca and RPI guys who wouldnt have any other beer...hilarious. Cant wait to see the SJF Ithaca game this year...gets more intense every season

I'm coming from all A's and B's 4 years straight and catching grief from the more intellectual bs teachers (eng professors, religious studies etc) who take it as an offense if people miss a class...I'm all for good grades and attendance but be realistic

Iceman-  Your recruiting is going to be key to the survival of the FDC, especially ensuring a quality turnout for the home opener you're not able to make.

they were always pretty cool about missing as long as you were responsible about it and let them know way in advance...and plus football players should really not miss classes because they play saturdays...

haha, i dont know man.  I guess you could call it the official beer of FDC tailgating.  it's the only beer i drink on Saterdays...no particular reason.

as for the SJF/IC game...oh man should it be intense! aside from the game itself, the war in the bleachers should be just as crazy.  after the FDC embarrassed the SJF fans in last years first half AT fisher, i wouldn't be surprised if your fans retaliated just as strong.
