You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Hey now.  No knocking the new 17's.  A few of them even facebooked ME.  That's right, ME.  And if a freshman girl would facebook someone as ugly as me, then maybe even High Life can find someone to snuggle up with after a chilly day at Butterfield.

JK, where do you live this year?  Potential for an FDC circle apartment again?  Man, those were the days.  I actually dated a 17 for a while that I met at our circle 2 years ago.

You are correct sir... the circle parties were the days.  That is where MIOH found himself a sweet 17.  Its nice for the alumn to be able to come back and relive the days of 'Circles."  Its better when the sweet 17's start dancing on tables and "experimenting".

an ithaca college staple.

unfortunately i'm not in circles, so i wont be hosting any FDC soirees.  but we'll have to recruit some green FDCer who has a circle to have one.  im down on grandview this year, right across from where hodgie and harris were last year.
All hail the Booga

super - i remember last year you telling me about trying to get fisher fans to wear black for a 'black out' or something to that effect...has that happened? how's the cheering section there at Growney? im expecting some kind of retaliation from fisher fans at Butterfield this year in response to FDC at Growney last year.

jk honestly I graduated in 06 and drove down for the black out which did not go great... the student section at fisher is still new for football games... I can see it gaining some steam because of the succsess fisher had last year

News of interest to Empire 8 football fans:
http://www.d3football.com/notables/2007/09/12/NAC+to+sponsor+football+in+%2709

This is great news.  It takes the longest road trip away from E8 teams and saves Fisher the embarrasment of losing to Norwich again.

Seriously though, unless it somehow disqualifies the E8 from qualifying for an AQ, this is nothing but good news.  I checked the FAQ but can't find the minimum number.

Pat Coleman

Number is seven, like is mentioned in the front page story.

I keep forgetting the E8 has only seven for football as it is. Gotta rewrite the story. The E8 would have a two-year grace period, I believe, in which to drum up a seventh member.

Who could the E8 get?  Would a disgruntled NESCAC program leave that conference for the E8, maybe Hamilton coming back to an upstate conference or a school like Wesleyan or Trinity possibly?  Would the E8 accept a state school, another MAC defection?

Lycoming is the only school I've heard of associated with the Empire 8 in recent seasons.

I would guess the E8 would not accept a state school but, even if they would, there aren't really any state schools left to accept.

'Port may have been a natural fit football-wise but, I think the Presidents would balk at a state school and, it doesn't matter since they joined the NJAC.

I also don't think another MAC school will defect.  The schools that are left in the MAC seem to have some long-standing rivalries and I can't imagine they would want to give those up only to play one or two MAC schools per year.

The only answer I can think of off the top of my head is Hamilton...and it is a bad option.  They suck at Football and really, don't take it seriously.  My guess is they wouldn't want to be affiliated with some of the E8 schools whom they deem to be below them academically and, they would just hurt the league anyway.

realistic

KS - I don't think the E8 would accept a State School.  It just seems like it would too much difference between that and the rest.  Though I think some state schools would be the best options.

Does this make sense for Norwich?  They are leaving a auto-bid conference to go to a non-bid conference.  I know it is a long trip for all of there games and they haven't been competitive, but they won't get in as a Pool B at this point either.

Pat Coleman

They're the highest-ranked team in this conference. If that conference gets its AQ act together, it could happen for Norwich.
