I disagree it is a regionally know game... simply because of camp good days...and the fact is d3football.com should make a mention of the game just to bring awareness to what fisher and uofr are doing for the community
When I say "regionally", I mean in the football world...in other words I dont think the rest of the East region teams know or give a shazit about the game or even know it exists.  On the other hand, what East region d-3 player doesnt know about 'Cortaca' for example.

I do agree that it is for a good cause, but that does not make it a great football rivalry or good football news for the rest of the d3 nation.

BTW, who won Yanks-Sox tonite?

You going tomorrow night?

superman57

I will disagree again...UofR is not the best of teams but they are top tier LL and Fisher is the top of the E8 this is a big game for the east region people are paying attention or should be

Now you have it all out of context...I started off by addressing the significance of the 'Courage Bowl' itself and the extent of its prominence and the rivalry factor of the 'Courage Bowl'  Please re-read the posts.

I am not down playing the teams or their records.  I am aware that SJF is the number 5 team in the country and that they only trailed MUC by 5 pts with 7 minutes to paly in the National Semis last year (I was there).  I also know that UR thinks they are on the rise and that this is otherwise an important contest in the scheme of things.

The 'Courage-Bowl' itself is not however a big-deal to anyone else other than the local area...plain and simple

Now what do you disagree with???

Caz Bombers

What a freakin' sweet win for the Yanks tonight...and in accordance with E8Nation protocol for baseball-related posts, I hereby note that the Cubs won and the Brewers lost.

superman57

I disagree with the fact that if E8 posters are refering to the game as the courage bowl and LLPP are refering to the game as the courage bowl it will gradually reach a rivalry... although in a rivalry the other team needs to win once in a while... so that might be hard

and caz I can't believe that win....I smell something.... is that.... yup thats a curse.... the Curse of Johnny Long Hair.... the yankees cut Damons hair and shave his beard and the red sox can't get rid of these pesky yankees

My real question to D3Football is why the lack of exposure for the Courage Bowl? I think it says a ton about what DIII is all about. Players playing for the love of the game and including those with little hope of ever being involved in college sports. All of this and donations for children that are suffering. I know there was some coverage last year but I think it is a message worth repeating and an effort to get some of the other teams to try this in their communities would be great. Maybe a competition nationwide for the largest donation.

We did feature it a couple of times in previous years and if the game is good, we will again Saturday night. But of all the rivalry games, there are others that are older than three years, as mentioned.

Fisher - Eric Murphy: Began as a small fry of no account (delivering pizzas/winless seasons) but has enjoyed meteoric rise to success, recently taking 1st real big-boy role (producing Medellin/winning the East in '06).  The future appears bright, but in Hollywood, nothing is assured (see Buff State/Johnny Drama).

Springfield - Vinny Chase: Perpetually highly thought of, yet actual accomplishments are underwhelming.  Vinny's not really that good an actor and Hey Pride has yet to win a big game on the road or not bite it in the playoffs.  Scores points/hot chicks like an unstoppable machine due to option system/looks and fame, but the whole is less than the sum of the parts.

Ithaca - Ari Gold: C'mon, of course the best character in the show is going to go with IC.  The looks, the money, the relentless drive to maintain the respect of the town.  Constantly bringing up the time he banged Dana Gordon/won 3 national championships at some indeterminate time in the past.  Frequently clashes with E/Fisher.  Considered obnoxious by everybody who knows him but at the end of the day all acknowledge that Ari/Ithaca rarely fails to get results.

Norwich - Sloan: Rarely around anymore but turned heads for a brief time.  Once knocked E/Fisher for a loop when he least expected it.

Cortland - Billy Walsh: Slovenly foul-mouthed character that alternates brilliant works (Queens Boulevard,  4 Jug wins in 5 years) with bombs (Medellin, the 2004 Cortaca beating).  Can't get the critics' respect or beat Rowan.  Detests and detested by Ari/IC.  Shows up unexpectedly talking all kinds of trash then vanishes just as quickly, but Billy/Cortland will always be back eventually.

Alfred - Turtle: Comic relief who never minded playing a supporting role to the stars of the show.  Just as Turtle usually makes a party better, AUPepBand with his stories is always welcome in any E8Nation discussion. Has recently shown an eye towards hitting the bigtime through vehicles like Jesse Raynor, Paul Keely and Saigon but it hasn't happened quite yet for Turtle/Alfred.  Any success on the horizon likely to be a one-off fluke.

Hartwick - Lloyd: A mostly useless poof, but an endearing one.  Takes tons of verbal abuse/football beatings from Ari/Ithaca but they maintain a close relationship (Hartwick's president was an IC dean; Ithaca's AD came over from 'Wick).  Helps Ari get advance knowledge of industry developments (Boltus and Crea serve as warm-up for facing Fisher offense).

Utica - Every other agent at Miller-Gold: Minyans under Ari's thumb.  Secretly resented by Ari/Ithaca for not sufficiently getting the job done for the agency/E8 conference.  Once did everyone a solid by representing Drama/beating RPI but that was quite a while ago at this point.

Buff State  - Johnny Drama: Once a star of such moderately successful vehicles as Pacific Blue, Viking Quest and the early 1990s in general, Drama/Buff State just couldn't keep the good times rolling.  Unable to make it on his own, he now pals around with his buddies ).  Exciting new venture (5 Towns/joining NJAC) not likely to restore what he once had.  Ultimately harmless but fun to have around, if only for the comedy that comes at his expense.

Rowan - Harvey: Nobody likes dealing with this gigantic angry egomaniac, but they have to as he's a titan of his field.  Almost always gets what he wants and crushes whatever stands in his way.  Every now and then he's kept off balance by the actions of E and the gang.  Once absolutely steamrolled Ari/Ithaca into the ground.

Brockport - Dom "The Dominator": Showed up one day a few years back and was absolutely insufferable to have around.  Enjoyed a false sense of accomplishment from achievements unlikely to last and surprise, they didn't.  Cross them and they'll threaten to do something bad to you but really all they'll do is beat you at basketball.  Thankfully disappeared a little while ago and now it's out of sight, out of mind for the most part.

RPI - Josh Weinstein - Success and money have found this one-time plodder but he's never gonna be the star of the show.  Had a great run a few seasons back while one-upping Ari/Ithaca in the process.  Now considers himself similar to or better than Ari/Ithaca, but those in the know realize that just ain't the case.

Union - the Middle Eastern guy that wanted to buy Medellin - Unbelievably wealthy but possesses questionable taste at best.  Probably enjoys wine and cheese.  Throws nice parties, wins a playoff game here and there, but was just recently spurned by Vinny/Springfield and not likely to be heard from again anytime soon.

Hobart - Shauna: Possesses qualities strikingly similar to Ari's minus the tons of cash/national titles.  Used to be around a lot more often but rarely seen anymore, a shame considering she still brings the funny when on-screen.  Off doing her own thing (having a kid/winning the LL).

UR - Shauna's assistant: Just follows Shauna/Hobart around without really doing anything.  Goes and gets her f'ing kid and it's not the first time a guy's thrown up on her.  Is kinda sorta hot/good at basketball.

Perhaps the best post of all time??? Its got my vote.

Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

Indeed, as Chairman-Against-His-Will, Pep is impressed with the extensive work of Caz Bombers. Perhaps CazBombers is well suited to lead the E8 Entourage? Does Pep smell a coup d'etat in the air?  :)

Another interesting contradiction from your posts of last year.  How different a little taste of success makes everything...eh?

Courage Bowl, though it is for a good cause, = meh.

Jose because last year makes 4 straight times that fisher has beaten UofR... I'm all for this rivalry and I want this game to mean something big... but when there is one team that is successful and one team that is only doing so-so... UofR needs to do something in order to make this rivalry work
