.......Kramer has a pretty remarkable "touch"

MIOH doesn't think anyone was going to question "Kramer's touch" on this board... esp. after seeing his roster photo.

Pep - Sorry to hear about the fallen Krispy's

So this one time at Band Camp....

This one time at Alfred, me and my buddy got a $5 Pizza at Uni-Mart and dropped it on our way up to our dorm.  Needless to say with us being lineman and drunk we still ate it.

Pep was attending the Sectional Finals at the Blue Cross Arena in Rachacha on a freezing cold Friday night in March. Following the game, Pep, when in Rachacha, likes to visit Krispy Kreme for a free hot one....and did. In fact, Pep bought a dozen for the morning. While getting into the PepBandWagon, Pep set the dozen on top of the van and proceeded to clean some garbage out of the vehicle. As it was cold, Pep quickly hopped in and took off. Moments later, on I-390, Pep inquires, "Who's got the dozen donuts?" Dang it.

Next day, Pep took the same crew back to the War Memorial for five Saturday Sectional Finals. After the finale, Pep makes another stop at Krispy Kreme (of course, this was back when Pep weighed 215 lbs.). This time, Pep is sure to put the donuts safely inside the van. While going up the ramp to I-390, Pep spots a Krispy Kreme box on the roadside, pulls over, gets out and picks up the dozen donuts from the night before...eight of which were smooshed with a tire track on the box, the other four in fine shape, frozen. Pep took them home and some members of Pep's family ate the four donuts the next morning for breakfast.  :P
                           does donuts
And that's how Pep rolls....

Did you get caught in the melee on Friday night when the arena was shut down?

Pep's Krispy Kreme Tire Track experience was at least six years ago.

A moment of silence for Pep...Krispy Kreme has left the county.......closed...done...NO MORE!

Mr. N: You can't mean they've closed their doors forever? Yikes! Where will Pep go for a coffee and complimentary hot glazed donut when in Rachacha late evenings?

NSRB thinks you should try the "garbage plate" or "hots" instead... just as unhealthy, plus more grease and deliciousness!

There is no comparison to Ithaca's past success when talking about Fisher, absolutely none. What we can discuss is the fact that whether the IC boys like to admit it or not, Fisher has been on their level for the past few years.

Should we be mindful of IC's history, and respect the fact that they have a good team most every year, absolutely. Should we back down from saying that Fisher can play with IC any day of the week now just b/c some IC guys get anxiety attacks and throw out the predictable "oh ya, well you haven't been good for that long"... no.

There is only so long the Ithaca program can eat out of their freezer (ie: early 90's)... eventually there needs to be a focus on the present.

The Fisher talk is all relevant as long as it's kept in context.

FA05 misses garbage plates alot.  My favorite garbage plate is from fairport hots.  I've heard there are many plates that are better, just never had any other really.  Plus, fairport hots is right down the street from Fisher so it was a convenience thing.

Pep and Kaz00 celebrated AU's 13-7 win at Growney in 2005 with garbage plates at Fairport Hots. How does Henrietta Hots compare? Pep has driven by but never stopped... heck, Pep might get delivered from the Krispy Kreme kraze in exchange for a Henrietta Hots hex.

well 6 days and counting till the big one next week. Fisher/Ithaca is still going to be a good one. IC can get right back into the mix for the AQ with a win. I can't wait. I will be there early with the grill goin. Look for the tailgate with the big Fisher Flag...

and maybe Ithaca-Fisher to see if Fisher can do something it has never done (and apparently no other private school in a long time).

Don't get me into this rivalry nonsense, mine was referring to poll votes and it would not matter if it was Ithaca, Springfield, Alfred or other teams with Poll points that SJFC was playing this week. The fact that Ithaca lost last week actually makes it less of a game for Poll points. From a Poll Voter standpoint, conference standings and post-season bid, Ithaca needs this game far more then SJFC, it is in all likelyhood their season (other then beating Cortland). With that in mind, Fisher better be ready for Ithaca. A wounded beast in it's den fighting for life is dangerous.

What a weekend.

The pain from the Bomber loss was eased by a monkey stomp of The Phighting Phils from Knoxville and burning in the sun while watching the Buccos go Who Dat all over the 'Aints Defense.

As for the Bombers...yes, Lyco, I actually wouldn't characterize Hartwick as a cupcake, even though I had previously posted to the contrary.  All last week I was thinking this was probably a game IC loses.  We haven't been good on the road the past few seasons, our secondary has been our biggest weakness since Amato left, and Boltus and Crea are legit players.  IC should have won that game but, this "upset" seemed to coming.  Of course, it is easy for me to say that I thought of this in hindsight when I never posted it on the board but, who wants to admit there is a good chance their team is going to lose to an inferior opponent.

The beauty of college football to me, that sometimes gets lost in the playoff-centric DIII level, is that a good season is defined by individual wins over specific opponents.  While I like the National Title runs, I would be happy every fall if UF beat Tennessee, Georgia, and FSU and the Bombers beat Cortland and there current flavor-of-the-month contender (today: Fisher).  Those 5 wins equal a good fall for me...at least until the Bombers can figure a way to return to the national scene.

Jose,

+ K for honest, self-disclosure, all is forgiven, come home, son.

On another note:

Mom is die-hard Sox fan and me a career Yankee-lover.

She even sent two Red Sox Matsuzake jerseys for the kids to Japan - I mailed them back.

My brother-in-law, also a Yankee fan, said burn them.  We take our sports seriously in my family.

Go Yankees!  Sorry Mom.

First and foremost - Pep is unreal!

2nd- I too really miss the garbage plate as i now reside in the south.  More importantly, has anyone ever heard of the rochester song that played for a while 2 summers ago.  "I want some hots.  I want some Nick Tahoe hots"?  I tried for a real long time to somehow get that off the internet but could never manage.  I only drove my friends nuts when all i knew from the song was that 2 line chorus.

Predictions (i know i havent been here a while and most of you prolly dont care, but i'll throw these out here anyway and sit back and wait for the backlash)

I think it is interesting that Booby and FA05 read my posts as being disrespectful towards Fisher.  It seems that Tags is the Fisher poster that responded to my posts and actually read what I wrote.  To satisfy my own curiosity, how is this statement disrespectful to Fisher?:

Quote from: JoseQViper on September 17, 2007, 09:08:48 AMFisher came to IC's level for the first time in 2003 with a near miss at Butterfield.  It seemed like a fluke at the time but, looking back, that is probably the first time Fisher really was even with IC.  IC fans didn't really give Fisher any credit until 2005 though.  So I will give you 2003-2007, which still has you about the same place Buff State was from 1998-2002 or Brockport was from 2000-2003.

Just for the record, the comment isn't made as a dig on Fisher.  Maybe they will sustain their success.  For the time being though, I am not ready to annoint this game as one I will circle every year from here on out.  If it develops into a longstanding rivalry, great.  But lets not assume that will happen until it does.

Saying that IC fans are "eating out of their freezer" (P.S. Tags, that was a great line, +k) is seriously mischaracterizing my argument.  IC is not the king of the hill in upstate because the three titles in 79, 88, and 91, IC is the king of the hill in upstate NY because of continued success.

While the last NC was 26 years ago, its not as if IC has been a .500 team since then.  Since 1991, the Bombers are 201-35 not to mention 77-17 at Butterfield (Butterfield numbers since 1990 since that number was in the Bomber Media Guide).  IC has finished with a winning record each of the last 36 seasons, the second longest streak in all of college football at any level (Linfield 51).  Also, IC hasn't lost to a New York private school at Butterfield Stadium since September 17, 1983.

Since 1991 IC has fielded 5 playoff teams (went from 1995 to 2001 without a playoff team, the longest playoff drought in these years) and won 6 playoff games.  The Bombers have also gone 3-1 in 4 ECAC postseason games since 1991.  Also, since 1991, 29 All-Americans have strapped up blue and white helmets.

As for the argument that I am overlooking the possibility that IC is backsliding when I point out that Buff State and Brockport both fell back to the pack I will agree with the point to a certain extent.  IC has fallen back from the mid-1990s.  IC slid back from being a perpetual National contender to a perpetual regional contender.  Buff State/Brockport/etc. slid from regional contenders to middling .500 teams or sub-.500 teams (although it looks as though the 'Port may have turned it around again).  I never claimed IC was still the king of the hill on a National, or even Regional, scene.  My argument is that IC is the measuring stick by which all DIII programs in New York measure themselves.  Certainly they have not slid to mediocrity like those other programs.

There is only so long the Ithaca program can eat out of their freezer (ie: early 90's)... eventually there needs to be a focus on the present.

The Fisher talk is all relevant as long as it's kept in context.

See, as a bomber fan this is what makes me so angry.  I remember when Fisher was thought of as today's Norwich.   Ithaca used to monkey stomp them.  Dubbz would have the oppurtunity to visit the tail gate zone any time throughout the game for some sweet PBR refreshments without any worry that Fisher would be close to doing anything productive.

Now a-days Fisher is a real threat that we have watched grow into a national power.  Mean while Ithaca, one of the country's most known and dominant programs is struggling, currently.  Ithaca is a team that is expected to be dominant every year.  There is no "rebuilding year" with the Bombers.  In a program like theirs you are expected to be re-loaded every year.   This year we have all the weapons and good defense.... it just feels like we are not clicking.  When you compare the two programs Ithaca is one that is expected year in and year out to be great, a.k.a. king of the hill.   Fisher is still rising.  The Ithaca fan base have been around since the National Championships and 7 National Finals with Butterfield and expect this every year.  (We're like Yankee/Red Sox fans)

When you have a taste of 1st place at the kings table you expect to be there every time dinner is served!
