Quote from: fisheralum05 on September 24, 2007, 12:19:01 AMPG04, you are correct.  Ithaca declined the invitation to an ECAC Bowl Game last season.  They never accept ECAC bids for some reason.  NCAA's or nothing for them.

This is a myth created by IC student media and regurgitated on PP every fall.  The Bombers played in an ECAC game as recently as 2004.

Super & Caz, you're both crazy if you think Welch gets fired.  Ithaca has had three football coaches since 1958.  Not to mention the fact that Welch has a career record of 106-40.  He isn't going anywhere.  He just has bad players right now.  Everything will be ok.  We will go out and get some receivers that can get separation and catch and all will be good again in Bomberland.

Saterday doesn't concern me at all.

Boxer7806

if Hartwick does end up 7-3 or 6-4 will the NEFC gain respect in the Empire 8 since a bottom feeder in WNEC handily defeated Hartwick in week 1?

no.

win a playoff game.

Or maybe even remain competitive with a team that doesn't get its doors blow off in the next round.

Alright guys, I only read to page 1584 and finally got so frustrated I just need to post.  I will continue my catch up from the weekend through out the day.

Ok first, Bomber Highlights....

1)  Lady Dubbz paying for a car wash from the IC Dance Team.  MIYH and Dubbz then went into rogans, purchased sweet PBR, and returned to the benches where we watched ICDT get bubbly and wet in sweet Bikinis scrubbing the TrailBlazer.  I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE A GOOD DAY FROM HERE!

2) The tail gate.  Man its a good time when the Gordons and Bams get together!

3)  The FDC singing the National Anthem due to technical difficulty at field level.

4) The opening drive for IC.  we marched down the field and I really thought the upset was coming after seeing the first 5 minutes of Bomber offense.

5) President Williams standing with the FDC in the 3rd and cheering.  That lady is the best president.  Please find someone that supports the Bombers like her!

Then I realized we were playing Fisher.  The number 5 team in the country.  The cardinals showed Saterday that they indeed were worthy of being in that position.  Kramer is a very good QB.  I wouldn't say Felicetti esq. but, he is good.  I didn't realize that Hanson was the runner he showed he was against the Bombers.  That kid could play some football.  Of course I think anyone could run behind that OLine.  The defense was quite good.  Fadgiano is doing WORK with them!  (Psss Fadge come back to IC... revive Butterfields name.  You're in his book for crying out loud!)

BOMBER RANT AHEAD!

Guys, we will come out of this. It is, after all, BOMBER NATION!  Looking at the roster for JV I think we have the same caliber of talent that fisher has.  The recruiting is going just as well.  IC has programs and education that Fisher does not.  This draws certain athletes in. Plus with the new A&E center going in, which supposedly is going to be the best thing since sliced bread, recruits will come.  We just need a Physical Education school so we can return to the greatness of the 90's.  (Look at 1990-1995 Rosters for reference.)  That is it.  I am not going to talk about defense and offense.  I wont talk about the play calling or lack there of.  I wont talk about the soft, cushy defensive back schemes we run.  I wont talk about the non-blitzing LBs.  I wont talk about the "revolving door of coaches."  I wont talk about Juvon because he actually LOOKED GOOD!  I wont talk about Heenehan and the WR core being the best in the E8 but being unable to run their routes due to a non blocking OLine.  I wont talk about the Bombers possibly having their first losing season in Welchs tenor.

That's it I am not talking about the Bombers any more in this post.

WOOO GO DANCE TEAM!

A fine point about recruiting, ER.  I have heard from many folks that Fisher makes people feel wanted, while IC often go about things with a "take us or leave us" attitude.

Something needs to change.

The Bomber Blame Game:

MIOH fully expected to see a lot of blame get tossed around this week after 2 conference losses in a row.  This is probably the lowest point of Bomber Nation since I have been a member (1999).  MIOH cannot remember a time when he wasn't thinking National Title at Least 7-8 Weeks into the season.  That being said... I'm a little surprised to see some of the names on the "list of blame" so far.

Before I get into the blame... I'll say again... Hats off to Fisher.  Your guys made all the big plays when it mattered & totally dominated the running game... which was a surprise to MIOH.  I think the backbreaker was the drive to start the 2nd half... No chance for the Bombers to build Momentum.... and then our running game seemed to sit on the sidelines until the final gun.

Back to the Blaming...

Ken Kutler - I laughed at this... The football team seems to be pretty well-resourced compared to other teams @ IC and when looking outside at other programs... I'm not sure he could do much more than what he's doing.

Peggy Williams - While JJ used to go to every Bomber Football Game and be a huge supporter (from what I've heard)  I think Peggy supports all of Ithaca Athletics and has been a great President to IC.

Coach Welch - Just look at his Resume... He followed in the footsteps of a HOF coach and has maintained a powerhouse program in Upstate NY for years... He's not going anywhere... nor should he.  We certainly have a right to question some of his play-calling & recruiting tactics from what's taken place over the past couple of years... but he's kept the Bombers at the forefront of the D3 landscape for quite some time... now if losing suddenly become sexy at IC for a few years... then I think you can start getting louder w/ your concerns here.

Dan Juvan - As I said earlier, I thought he played well on saterday.  He's starting to gain confidence in big games.  He looks better in the pocket and is making better decisions.  The Red Zone seems to be his biggest weakness right now... and our running attack hasn't helped him out much this year.  (Side note - We ran 1 option play saterday... for a first down... he's the 1st bombers QB I've ever seen that knows how to run the option well... I WISH WE WOULD SEE MORE OF IT)

Offensive Line - We have some issues.  While they can't take all the blame... they need to play better.

Secondary - The last 2 weeks they've been exposed.  Our Prevent defense against Fisher was very frustrating to watch... to Fisher's credit they nibbled off yards that we seemed content to give up.  At least Springfield won't be passing the ball 30+ times.

Red Zone Offense -  This is where Bomber TE's and RB's used to make their Bonus Bucks... not the case in '07.  MIOH remembers the feeling when the Bombers got into Red Zone it was over!  He would get out his Touchdown Towel and start waving it wildly in anticipation for the TD that would always follow... Now he just holds his breath and hopes we don't have to attempt another field goal.

It will be interesting to see if this team embraces the role of spoiler... or just folds like a cheap Wal-Mart Tent.  I like the idea of making PC and others look foolish for ranking Springfield so high this pre-season (and drinking the Chris Sharpe Kool-Aid), taking Alfred down a peg or two, and then putting a mokey stomping on Cortland to polish off the season.

Go Bombers

While Hartwick was a surprise in that we were not able to put up more points....SJF was not.

These guys are obviously very sound....stable and their program is on a steady foundation....

MIOH....kudos again...and +K

ok so here is a question...could Welch's job be in jepordy, if Ithaca continue to struggles and at the end of the season is 6-4 or 5-5

Super......I think we have a better chance of Syracuse going D3....even after Saterdays game....lol!

I can't decide what is better.  The savvy analysis of blame or this line:

FA91...it has been awhile.....my therapist says staying off of here will relieve the anxiety of Joe's first year not playing.....therapist is a real #!%?!$!!

Miss the day to day, keepin busy at work and family....you guys looks dangerous in that when you are not "dominating" you still get the win....referring to the U of R game....

This Saturday was a well coached victory and in a not so friendly place....

SJF seems less reliant on "stars n studs" like Robby and Feherenbach...they are spreading it around pretty well.....
