the tailgaing problem at Fisher is not so much a Fisher thing as much as it is a Pittsford thing I think. Having said that Fisher is a little tight on drinking...okay a lot tight on drinking.

I totally agree, that it kills the momentum of the program that fans can not go to the games a few hours early and have a few beers before the game. Last year at the Ithaca game, and for the playoff games with Union, and Rowan, I was able to have a decent tailgate before the game.
The key, I have found, is to not to be over the top with it. If you keep the beer in cups, instead of holding the can, and you keep the cans out of sight (usually a paper bag in the car can do the trick), you can get a way with a little more.
Safety in numbers is the biggest way to beat the rent a cops. The reason IC lets people tailgate, and Fisher does not for the most part is that at IC people have been tailgating for longer, and there is more people doing it. If several groups are all tailgating at every game, Fisher will be forced to "control" the party, rather than end the party.

So, that settles it. All the Fisher fans on this board should coordinate one game to all go to and have a massive party in the park n ride. AU perhaps?

I tottally agree that Fisher may need to just lighten up a little tho. If someone important at the school is out there...please let the fans you have celebrate and create an atmosphere that can keep them coming back...please, I can't get my friends to come without the beer.

P.S. my predictions earlier were for the league record. I have AU having one loss to Fisher, and I have IC beating SC, so that is why I have three teams with a 3-3 record.
GO FISHER!!!

Last year, we got yelled at having a grill on campus.  They seemed to look past the party cups, but weren't so hot on brats.  I didn't mean for that to rhyme.  Regardless, we closed the trunk until they left, and then continued to cook.  I think they realized that it was futile effort, but it still seemed strange that they asked us to stop cooking...and not be so loud with the bomber shots.  Although it did pave the way for the "down low, quiet alma mater" toast.

Max is a big, BIG Alfred fan in '07.

So Max, what instrument can you play? The Saxons can use a tuba this Saturday in Vermont.

Stupid Fisher Security...You should see what they do if you break out a "drinking device". There are a lot of stories bout that stuff....

People had tents all over, suv's trucks were popped up with beer spilling out of them, and everyone was having fun.

Oh man did this open a can of worms?  What instrument doesn't the kid play?  He goes to band camp in Europe and is now at some college in California that is just for music.  Crazy.

Pep enjoys South Hill...his 2005 visit was when Pep met MIYH, Tecmo, et al FDC and heck, the band actually got to play the Saxon fight song a few times as AU took a 14-13 lead into the fourth quarter.

Pep is still hoping to meet Lois at this year's visit to South Hill on Nov. 3.

Here's a piece from the Alfred Sun dated Sept. 19, 1957 (50 years ago):

The Alfred Saxons, undefeated since 1954, will be riding a 15-game winning streak when they open their 1957 football campaign against Ithaca College Saturday night at Ithaca. The game will be the 11th in a series that started in 1933. Alfred leads 6-3 with one tie. Seven lettermen are expected to be in the starting lineup for the Saxons.....Coach Alex Yunevich has been juggling his backs during the final week of pre-season practice and is undecided on his arrangements.

Stay tuned...

Lotta talk about max on the boards tonight. Just the way max likes it. After all, he's the man, whose name you'd love to touch...... BUT YOU MUSTN'T TOOOUUUUCCCHH!

-Max is never a "free agent fan", only a "free agent bandwagon fan". For more information see SU's run to the championship circa 2003 as well as the Padres circa now. And Alfred. However, #1 favorites always stay constant.

-Max would be honored to have a guest appointment to the famous pep band. I play piano, flute, sax and clarinet and conduct and could certainly handle certain percussion instruments as far as pep band music goes. Not a brass player though. Also I regret that being a TA for a class called "The Beatles" does not pay well enough to allow for a trip to Cortaca, much less a trip to an AU-"Nor-she's-a-witch" game. Maybe in the future, Pep. Also, if you've got a spare weekend, maybe you could come down to the hill and show our measly excuse for a geeky music frat pep band (maxpower calling something to do with music geeky = it must be REALLY geeky) how it's done.

-UCSD is not only for music. As far as the department pecking order goes, sometimes we wonder if UCSD is for music at all. They make their bread and butter in the sciences here....

-I can imagine Pep sitting at a dimly lit table, surrounded by thousands of archival copies of the Alfred Sun, sifting through for little tidbits like that one, perhaps wearing one of those monocle/magnifying glass dealies....

On another topic, did everyone see the Gundy Ok. St. rant? I'm split on opinion; on the one hand I love the impassioned speech he gave, without ever crossing the line, about how to treat amateur athletes and the parallels to parenting. I thought it was beautiful. However, as someone rightly put it, DI football players are hardly amateur athletes; if he isn't upset about all the special treatment they receive in the positive, why get this twisted about the occasional negative? Thoughts?

A few years Back IC came to Fisher..(This was back when IC could beat them) and the fans had a great tailgate before the game. Which I was a part of..Noone bothered us..Until after the game when the Fisher "Barney Fife's" came around with thier bullets in thier pockets trying to search vehicles after the game. The group I was with sent them away packing of course. (After all they are a non police agency)..ad we continued to tailgate as IC fans.. The Tailgate is awesome thing for any college. It shows team support and makes for great fan commeraderie (Should have spent more time in class). IC has been tailgating since the early 70's and they are good at it. If kept under control it can be a boost to any program in any sport. SUNY school's see it as a liability (Brockport)..while private schools should embrace it. Fisher needs to change thier ways..Its a few beers,,a few burgers wings ect cooked by adults..and those who abuse the priveledge (School again)..Should be banned not by the Barney Fife's of the world but by the real tailgators who do it responsibly.

BTW....Hartwick...Kick fishers A$$... :o

Pep is hoping the Saxons get a big lead on Norwich in the first half. That way, Pep can get Keeley to play trumpet with the band in the second half.  ;)

How did you not put (Legendary) in front of his name? I thought that was part of the title or something. :)

Pat,

That title, of course, came after his coaching career had ended in 1976. The post is directly quoting a 1957 article from the Alfred Sun long before he had earned the "Legendary" title. But at least now Pep has you associating "legendary" with Alex Yunevich!  8)
