hartwick has the new field turf now, and a new building at the entrance of the field with real bathroom !!!

Thanks for the update, D3 still lists them as Old-Style Turf. Anyone know the quickest route from Rochester to Hartwick?

MIOH is the closest so far.  Having grown up in central NY our high school competed against Oneonta.  One of my brothers went to SUNY Oneonta.  Believe me  - take the Thruway to Herkimer, take 28 South then pick up Route 205.  205 is far better traveling than staying on Rte 28.  As far as mapquest goes I have real issues with them. If one was to go to Binghampton it would be south of Oneonta and you would then have to go over an hour or so in a NorthEast direction.  Honestly, I have traveled these roads many, many times.

saxon- while i agree with that route--you can hop off the dewey and get there taking route 8 to cty 13- to cty 23  to 205 just as fast if not faster than going all the way to herkimer and climbing vickerman hill

Hey boys,

I figured I would send this along since a lot of us like to watch cars going 190mph while taking 3-4 left turns in every mile.

This, for those of us that know a little history about NASCAR, is almost as bad as the series name switching from Winston to Nextel.

A sport that has become global and has every driver in the world wishing to compete in it could possibly be abandoning its roots.  With expansion to Cali and other states that are non-Nascar the "little tracks" will slowly but, surely, die off.   When Trump builds his track in Long Island the Glen will eventually have to compete against it for a NASCAR weekend.  Unfortunately the Glen only gets 1 or 2 year contracts.  Which means, in essence, that every year the Glen has to compete against bigger and better tracks.  NASCAR better not abandon its road courses or it will eventually end up like the NHL.  They'll over expand, reach out too far for new audiences, and have their TV ratings fall behind Queer Eye for the Straight E8PP Posters.

not only that guys but, could you imagine not having Bud as the official beer of Nascar and the Busch Series.

Ugh.

sjfcclimbing:  Do you really think Vosburgh recruits based upon the style of turf they play on?   "Um, sorry Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, I dont think your son is the right fit for our offense because he plays on grass in H.S."

Of course not, but they recruit to a defensive and offensive strategy which happens to be speed especially on defense. That in turn gives them an edge on turf and slows them down on grass. Many on the team suspected that Ithaca might allow the grass to grow a little long to slow down Fisher's offense. However, the field was in great shape.

Haha not really.  When I coached @ Fisher I did some recruiting in the Syracuse area high schools.  Recruiting at the D3 level is much simpler than you would think.  The coaching staff compiles a list of the all-county and all-state players from each high school.  Then you visit each high school and sit down with these specific players.  Usually, its about 5-7 players from good football schools, and maybe 1-3 from schools whose teams aren't as good.

Its really mass recruiting.  D3 schools try to bring in as many players as they possibly can to be honest.  This gives them more of a chance, statistically, to find the players that will be very good.

Fisher is bringing in great players now because of the state of the program and the quality of the school and facilities.  Plus, once recruits arrive for their overnight visits, they have a great system in place.  They really make you feel at home.  When I visited other schools coming out of high school I didn't really get that feeling as much.  Especially at Ithaca (no offense IC posters).  They were honestly quite rude and it wasn't a great experience.  They need to do something about their system for sure.  I liked my visit to Alfred, they do a good job too.  Thats why it came down to Fisher and Alfred for me.

I see.  Looks pretty good.  Sure beats going down to Binghamton and back up unless somebody wants to stay only on 4 lanes.

very true.
i take it from nh 4 days a week

I always liked NH and Casa Too Mucha.  Is it still good?

At the NH Invitational I was on a relay team that broke our school record.

casa is still there going strong---food is ok.
lot of microwave stuff- but a nice change from italian!

Saxon73

I know what you mean.  Utica and Italian are virtually synonymus.  I went to hs in Frankfort, probably 95% Italian.  Our neighbor taught my mother how to make Lasagna - unbelievable!  My first job out of AU was in Los Angeles.  My girlfriend's mother made authentic Mexican food.  Also incredible.  Hard to match but is fun to try.
