Fish91,

Sounds good for now but I don't know how early I will get up to U-town.  Things will work out.  We have plenty of time.  Looking forward to it!

Define "upset" more clearly.

Utica beat Springfield a few years ago.

Also, if you are limiting it to a Norwich over Fisher type upset, then I would say there have been very few in E8 Basketball play over the last 10 years.

I dont remember that Utica win.  I guess it would depend if Springfield had any chance of winning or knocking off a top tier team THAT year.

What i was getting at is that football, as compared to other sports, produces far fewer upsets.

Isn't this just basic probability from 7th grade math?

I can answer that one.  Yes, it is Q.  Also, it's science.
As football teams play so many fewer games compared to other sports, it is virtually inevitable that there will be fewer upsets.  Beware of comparing apples and oranges.

Once again, I also mentioned percentage wise that it produces far fewer upsets.  Before you all jump on my case like i'm an undersized OLB from Hartwick, read the pages before that.  Furthermore, instead of nitpicking at one liners from my arguments, instead try to prove me wrong.  Show me the upsets in football in the E8.  Furthermore, when i was talking about comparing the NFL and/or D1 football upsets to that of D3 football, that is when i used the "apples and oranges" comparison.  Once again, prove me wrong there.  Which, as i explained two weeks ago, is why there are no lines on D3 football.

Okay gentlemen... looks like I can shed some light on this argument about financial aid.

I looked at Ivy league, Patriot league and some PSAC schools, obviously nothing panning out through them... however I would have been paying only a few thousand more through the Ivy leagues like Princeton and Penn.

My final three came down to Hobart, UR and Fisher... all were equal in cost give or take 1,000 dollars.

Never applied to Ithaca, St Lawrence was amazing but never gave them a real chance.

I know those aren't E8 schools I'm comparing but when it comes to financial aid I came to find out that every school is going to be somewhat similar if they want you.

The other schools I visited I don't remember the packages they offered because they weren't in my final decision making process.

Final thought... There is no cheating in getting more financial aid out there for athletes that are wanted by the staff and have the grades to get in.  I was fortunate enough to get money from all those schools because of my grades, they won't give out scholarships on sports alone... when it comes to D3 the grades are what can give you that extra aid to help...

Hope that helps a bit!

did Ithaca even look at you?

If they didn't, they probably wish they did.

Holy SAT scores batman....'Wick beats Fisher and I have to spend my whole Tuesday afternoon catching up on pages of posts about financial aid packages...what about discussing how Fisher is going to put up a 60 spot on B-port this saterday...sorry pg04....just trying to change things up a little in here

If you want to change the subject, my Daggers were up 3-0 at the 60th minute mark and are now trying to hold on to a 3-2 lead in Brentford.  How about subbing in Paul Benson or John Nurse?!?  Come on you Daggers!

These last 10 minutes can not go fast enough.  Tony Roberts is getting blasted in goal.  Play some defense, Anwar!!!

I think the verdict is still out on B-port this year.  They have 2 lopsided wins and 2 lopsided losses.  They did beat Cortland by 2 TD's but got smoked by Ithaca last week.

They have a relatively dangerous offense with a good receiver in Mike Maciejewski and a solid RB.  Any decent offense is dangerous for SJF's defense which is giving up a ton of yards.

Not to mention that B-port traditionally owns SJF and even in recent years when we finally figured out how to beat them, it has taken miracles (Ferenbach's "Catch") in 2004 for example.

With all the caveats out of the way...Fisher wins this one handily as their recent seasons have become predictable:  win a few games in a row, beat a longtime nemesis either for the first time ever (B-port '04) or the first time on the road (Ithaca '07), follow that big win up with a crushing upset on the road in a helter-skelter finish (Norwich after the B-port miracle of '04 and 'Wick '07 after finally disposing of IC at Butterfield), and then bounce right back with a couple of impressive blowout victories and a run towards the play-offs.

SJF 52
B-port 28

fisheralum91

id like to see that score!
thanks for the analysis!
and kazoo- you need to sober up.

OK wow...I missed a lot...

I chose Fisher because I fell in love when I went to the campus and I loved my major...I then went and looked a Marist and while the campus was amazing the people there were douches
