AlfredFootball.com has a nice page dedicated to Julio Fuentes that they recently loaded.  Pep, any more updates?
Wow, outstanding tribute to Julio!

Pep was just asked by a fellow at the Terra Cotta Coffeehouse about Julio. Nothing much really to report, but that he's at home in Olean, continuing in physical therapy although not as rigorous as he'd like...and he plans to be back on campus for spring semester, with the assistance of an aide. He continues to make slow improvement with feeling in his feet.

When asked by the fellow if Julio will ever walk again, Pep replied, "Oh yeah...the kid's a fighter. If anyone can overcome this adversity, it's Julio Fuentes."

Ok ok,  I showed Hartwick love on my last post and now people are talking about Hartwick as if they are better than Mt. Union.  They are an improving team with 2 great wins but its still alot of season left.  I got 2 words for you, Paul Keeley.  As much as the Wick fans want to think it will be a close sorry guys its not going to happen.  The kid is playing out of his mind this year.  Tom Brady like numbers so I find it a little hard to believe that Hartwick's Defense will not look like Spaghetti Strainer this weekend.

Final Score
AU 42
Wick 17

7's When the next time you comming up this way?

I don't know which person you are talking about that is a 'Wick fan that is acting like they are better then Mt. Union.  That is absolutely crazy.  I hope the game this weekend will be a great game...and I will be hoping for a big Hawks win...but there is absolutely no question 'Wick is the underdog with still a lot to prove.  There is not a single legit 'Wick fan that thinks this will be an easy game.  Alfred crushed Springfield...so everyone knows what they are capable of.  No predictions...just hoping for a great game.

Agreed, some posters just seem upset that we have the nerve to talk about our team. No question that IC, SJF and AU have much longer and gloriuous histories that HC, but it is just that history. This is a new year with new players and everyone starts even. I'm not going to make any bold scoring predictions, because those can come back to bite you where the sun don't shine (I've made note of all predictions so far). With the 2 conference wins so far like it or not 'wick is in the discussion, as for this weekend. If:

1. AU wins big - HC still in the race, but loses credibilty and is just a feel good story.

2. AU wins close game at end - still a wide open race with many acts left tp play.

3. HC wins by any score - Race for the AQ is essentially over.

dood get over your self...you have very little chances of getting the AQ...Alfred is too good and Hartwick can't stop the run so they will have a hard time stopping Chris sharpe and two losses basically ends your hopes and you will not get a pool c because you got routed by WNEC

E8 Nation,

Whats up everybody?  Sorry its been awhile.  About 5 days which is a long time for me.  Had to calm down some before coming back.  It's all good now though.  Just didn't want to post anything I would regret.

Alot of interesting talk since I've been gone.

The loss to Hartwick certainly hurts.  I was so angry when it was all said and done in Oneonta.  But what can you do.  Hartwick played very good and we did not.  It's football and that happens.  Now I know how the Ithaca guys feel.

As you guys probably know I was part of the SJF staff a couple years back.  So it's very hard for me to fault them in any way.  I have much love and respect for the staff.  Everybody makes mistakes, including coaches every now and then.  Obviously, the end of the game could have been managed differently but its easy for us to say as spectators.

I'm hoping the season turns out like my senior year in 2004.  We were undefeated going into the Norwich game, and they beat us.  We turned around and won the rest of our games and finished at 9-1.  Hopefully this team can do the same!

Once again, sorry about the disappearing act.  Especially to the hard core E8 posters including FA91, Booby, Superman, SJF82, SJFClimbing, Realistic, Jose, NSRB, Tecmo, Pep, Kazoo, Sarge, Tags, MIOH, MIYH, DewCrew, and anyone else I'm forgetting.  I see we have some new guys posting.  Welcome aboard!  This is turning out to be one crazy year in the E8!

fish05,

welcome back. i'm sure being on staff in years past it is troubling to see things turn out the way they did.  but as someone just said.  football happens.

NSRB is really looking forward to homecoming this weekend.  been in touch with BobNapoleon and it sounds like we will have shirts this weekend for the new FDC recruits.

from here on out I guess i'm going with the Cubbies and the Tribe.  and by the way, I heard my boy Lastings Millidge is going to be putting out a Holiday CD now that he has more time for his music. And my friend Tom Glavine shot -3 under on the links yesterday, i hear he might jump on the PGA tour now that his fall schedule has opened up

Any Nor-witches out there that want to post? NSRB wants to know the low down on the cadets and what we should expect.  also, feel free to come on by and say hello over in the tailgatoring area.

As I said we'll know by Sat. afternoon. If AU kicks Hartwick's a** I'll be right back on here to acknowledge your superior analysis skills.

Winner of this game definately has the inside track for the AQ in the Empire 8.  Once again, Alfred has to be the favorite in this game.  I would, however, get over who the WNEC loss.  It is pretty much an elementary arguement.  While Alfred's win over Springfield was enormous...they are sitting at 4-0 with wins against Thiel (2-3), St. Lawrence (2-2), Springfield (2-2), and Norwich (2-3).  No one over .500.

If Alfred wins the game...they will still have two of the big 4 opponents left in Fisher and Ithaca.  A loss to Fisher, even with that win against Wick, puts a big dent in their AQ status, and would have to hope to finish 9-1 to get a pool C bid, which is never a gimmie.  If Hartwick, however, wins this Saturday, they could still lose to Springfield...but with Springfield having one E8 loss already and having both Fisher and Ithaca left on the schedule BEFORE they play Hartwick, the game could have less appeal with only two weeks left in the regular season.

Bottom line...let the games play out.  If Hartwick would lose simply becuase they couldn't stop the run, then they should have lost to BOTH Ithaca and Fisher.  This is why they actually play the games out...

This is an exaggeration.  In fact, we have encouraged more HC fans to come and talk about their team.  For that matter, we have begged for fans from Norwich, and more fans from Utica and SC.

Quote from: admirals_vt on October 04, 2007, 12:28:57 PMNo question that IC, SJF and AU have much longer and gloriuous histories that HC, but it is just that history.

I don't know that Fisher has a "much longer and glorious history" in football.  On top of that, this is just a tired and predictable argument.  The only thing more predictable would be me bouncing our walnut and bronze off your forehead as a counterargument.  But I am not going to do that.

Quote from: admirals_vt on October 04, 2007, 12:28:57 PMThis is a new year with new players and everyone starts even.

Thanks Tim McCarver.  Would you also agree that no one wins any games on paper, and that you have to throw all the records out in a rivalry game?  Any more similar brilliant insight you'd like to shower us with?

Quote from: admirals_vt on October 04, 2007, 12:28:57 PMI'm not going to make any bold scoring predictions, because those can come back to bite you where the sun don't shine (I've made note of all predictions so far).

So basically, you are too chicken **** to make a prediction but, have no trouble taunting others that were willing to go ahead and put their opinion out there?

If you want us to consider your opinions, they should at least be internally consistent.  How does AU's margin of victory effect the "race" in 1 and 2.  Isn't the outcome, regardless of margin, the sole factor that effects the "race."

If Wick does have trouble stopping the run, the games against Springfield and Alfred could get ugly:

Kaz wick is giving up 233 yards per game...

Alfred has played weak teams but has taken each team they played to the woodshed... will alf win out...unlikely...but I do think they will win 2 out of 3 of the big games remaining and end up tied with fisher with 1 loss and they will get a pool c...

So, "I do think they will win 2 out of 3" should really mean "I believe Alfred will beat Ithaca and lose to Fisher" since they both can't have only 1 conference loss otherwise.

You have no reason not to be.  While I'd love to see the Saxons run the regular season table, I would be very happy if they can take 2 of those final 3 road games.  And if that's the case, then I would prefer to lose to Fisher since I'd be less anxious the week leading up to that game.
