Alright good talk, see ya out there.

I am gone for real this time, I'll be back later on.

realistic

I won the Pinewood Derby when I was in the Cub Scouts....I really think it is at least very similar (if not the same) as winning the Nextel Cup.

It's more like winning the Indy 500, pinewood derby cars are open wheel.

All I was saying was for the level of football Fisher offered back in the 80's, we were at the absolute top of it.   What more could those players have done?  Seriously...
They could have gone to a school that had football ...

Ok so i didnt catch up on the 36 pages i missed but, fisher had football in the 80's?  I assume this is the club team everyone is talking about.   So they won the club nat. championship.  YAY!  then they decided to play real football and got monkey stomped for 12 years.  Now they can actually play football.   Good Job.  Here's a cookie.

realistic

beyond all of that, why is it that the Fisher guys get on IC guys for talking about past success and Nat. Championships when they are the ones that keep bringing it up.

And seriously, talking about football in the 40s is rediculous....unless Pep is giving us a history lesson.

Just ask me, and I will tell all ;); not sure where any of the info is of actual paper or on-line record, but in all seriousness, ask me and I can probably give you a good idea.

From 92-95 for example, our record was 21-16 (other than the *in '95)
We had very solid teams in 93, 94 and 95.  Some big wins were against a ranked RPI team in '93; and a very good Catholic team in '95.  We could never get over the hump against some good B-port teams and very good Buff St teams.  In '94, we lost at B-port after leading by two scores with less than 5 min to go...and the ball (a lot like the '04 Del Val play-off game), and in '95 at 6-0 and ranked 4 in the East, we give up a kick-off return to B-port with 2 min to go at home and lose.

Catholic was 6-2-1* in 1995. They weren't unbeatable that year.
I knew I would get a response from you on my "Catholic" post :)

Well, I have no problem crediting my alma mater for what it's earned without having to exaggerate their opponents' success to embellish it. :)

I'm sorry I really don't know where you are going with that Jose, are you saying it's easier for a program now to rise to prominence as quickly as Fisher did then it was in earlier times and that is why it took Ithaca 40 years to become consistently dominant?  Because I would think it's harder now that there are hundreds of D3 schools to compete with and I think that makes what Fisher is doing even more special.  And I wouldn't expect you to think much about Fisher's history since you witnessed the worst team we have ever fielded but how can you discredit the things SJFF82 are saying about when we had decent teams in the mid 90's.  For Fisher it went like this- First year terrible, next 3 years pretty decent, next couple years so-so, then came those consecutive years of terrible teams you witnessed and then came the past 5 or 6 years of current success.

I don't know if it is easier or harder, it is totally different.  I agree there are a lot more D3 teams today than in the 30s and 40s because, when IC started its football program there were 0 D3 teams.

Even though there are more colleges playing football today, there are also more kids going to college today.  So, you could argue it was harder to develop a program 70 years ago because there were far fewer people going to college at all, much less going to college to play football.  Also, let's not forget that IC lost four years of football to that little skirmish in Europe and the South Pacific.

Today's college environment simply cannot be compared to that college environment.

In the end your argument is the equivalent of arguing that it took the Yankees 22 years to win their first World Series so, the Devil Rays are on pace to win 26 titles.

Pep must get to work but not before passing around some +K for all the laughs this morning.
And, just for the record, Pep's entry in Troop 19's Cub Scout Pinewood Derby of 1964 did not make it to the finish line.  :(

Here's a question for everyone, I just had it while reading the Donovan article:

Which running attack would you rather have?

A) Robinson and the other guys
B) Donovan, Baez, and Bam
C) Hartwicks Crea
D) Springfields Triple Option

side note: I know Robinson has graduated but, I figured he was equivalent to Donovan and in hopes of makign the debate more interesting I included him.
