Outstanding Man Law....+K

AUPepBand's dad has missed three AU home games since 1937, each attributed to either an out-of-state family wedding (what was my cousin thinking?) or a funeral (Saturday afternoon funerals should be outlawed as well). Better yet, death angels should be ordered to take a vacation during D3 football season.

Hey Pat,

Have you given a prediction for the Fisher v IC game this weekend?  I would like to hear what you think about the game and what's your prediction?

Lyco,

I heard somewhere, not too recently, that Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ was joining the E8.  They used to be known as Stevens Hoboken Institute of Technology. (Check that acronym)

Best wishes,

Saxon 73

Stevens Institute is Joining the E8 for everything but football in '07.  I think they may have gotten onto some schedules this year if there was room.  I believe the E8 is still looking for another memeber (especially one that carries all E8 sports) but I have not heard anything specific.

In other news....who would have thought that this week would turn into IC and SJF complimenting one another and directing all anger/trash toward AU fans (some not all).  Interesting development.

I don't do predictions, at least not until playoff time when we all do them in Around the Nation.

I think we can agree that Ithaca and Fisher are pretty close talent-wise, at least they have been over the past two years.  I actually thought Ithaca had more talent in 2004, while I might give the nod to Fisher in 2005, even though the results didn't match that thinking.

So what has changed since last year?  I can provide an opinion from the Ithaca side...

On the plus side:

#1- The defense is significantly more healthy.  At this point last year, 3/4ths of the secondary was hurt, and our former "Monroe Country Player of the Year" was out for the season.

#2-  The aforementtioned Player of the Year is Phil Byers. The 3-4 needs a big strong NT and that's exactly what he is.  Teams have had little to no success running between the tackles.

#3-  Speaking of the 3-4, it has been successful so far, allowing the Bombers to throw a lot of different looks at the QB.  Last year there was little to no pressure on the quarterback.

#4-  The offensive line is vastly improved.  The Bombers returned 4 of 5 starters, and they have given Juvan all day in the pocket.  Really impressive.

#5-  The RBs are a year older.  Donavan and Baez look even stronger and faster.

#6-  Juvan has a flood of receivers to pass to.  Heenehan, Hogan, Bostic, Ortehl, and Gordon have all showed major ability to come down with a ball.

On the other side:

#1-  Felicetti will be missed.  Juvan has the stronger arm, is more mobile, and has shined.  That being said, his inexperience is probably the major question mark going into Saterday.

#2-  When in need of a clutch first down, Esposito would catch aboslutely everything.  I literally can't remember him dropping a ball.  When we really need a catch this year, who will fill in as that Mr. Dependable?

#3-  The 3-4.  While it has looked extremely good so far, Saterday will be the true test.  There are time the rush hasn't gotten to the QB in time, which would give a better QB some opportunities.  Boltus may have been that QB, but had no one that could catch a ball.

#4-  The road.  Traveling hasn't always been kind to the Bombers.  What a tough one to play the first road game of the season!  Recent tough losses to Brockport and Lycoming have come probably due to flat performances away from home.  Juvan makes his first start outside of the Friendly Confines.

#5-  Our tradition of strong FBs is on hold until Bam returns from his injury.

Do the positives outweigh the negatives?? Time will tell!

Ya think Fisher will concentrae on the run? ::)

Lumpy, how are ya?  I would be flying out of sacramento, prefferably on a friday, getting in in time for a bomber shot or two then flying out on Sunday.  I could fly into cuse if Berg can pick me up should be good.

ICemanJK

If it should rain on Saturday, will it slow down/hinder the IC passing game? And if so how much? It rained against Huntingdon in week one but didn't seem to affect Juvan all that much.
All hail the Booga
