Sey hey Mr N,

Appreciate your comments from late last year.  Hope all is good with you and your family.

What else is up?

Soupman,(just trying to spell badly)    Saxon73 wants to be Penn St.  Selfishly to personal reasons, plus Coach Yunevich (capable of understatement) may have been a JoePa type, Penn State won the Lambert Trophy (or Cup) the same year AU won the Lambert Bowl, and both geographical areas have been refered to as "Happy Valley"

it's close but Alfred has not had nearly the success that Penn State has...

Yes Soupman - I was trying to be somewhat lowkey.  Just a personal preference as I did some grad work at PSU.  I did say selfishly personal reasons.

Pep remembers the year that both Alfred and Penn State had outstanding quarterbacks who, incidentally, were named "Lance".

And Alfred and State College indeed are both known as Happy Valley (in fact, Alfred once had a beloved ski slope by that name). And, now here's the real catch... both have exquisite ceramic engineering programs, although Alfred is probably more widely known.

Now, here's a scary image from Saterday's game with the 'wick....

AU Pep Band....not to be messed with.

Wow, quoting himself now, Pep wonders how that "Alfred State College" got in there... ???

Right you are Pep.  Actually a classmate of mine went on from a faculty position, to be the Director of the PSU Materials Research Lab.  A serious position not only for technology but national defense as well.

Saxon73 does not take these things lightly.  Being used to Harman Kardon stereo equipment my ears have been attuned.  The PepBand , I will say again performed far beyond any previous experience I have had with the Band.  They really did a great job and I hope all can continue through the year.  GO PEPBAND

As a Yankee fan, I listen to people complain all the time that George is buying success.  My response as a Yankee fan, "WHO CARES"!!  I don't care why they win, in the words of Al Davis, "Just win, baby".  This sounds like the same arguement that people are throwing at the SJF program (the Bills building the Fisher program).  And I would say the response would be the same, "Who cares", "Just win, baby".

Sorry Mr Sarge but I must take exception to your thesis.  I don't believe we should compare the Professional prostitues to D3 football.  Mr Steinbrenner believes in the golden rule - He who has the gold rules -  I grew up with the Yankees - Mantle, Berra, Maris, Boyer, Kubek, Howard, Ford , Turley, Skowron etc.  They stayed with their team, we as kids knew the team, memorized statistics as they didn't go off to another league or whatever.  It was a much simpler life with some consistancy and the chance to follow your team.  I roll with college sports.  I got tired with a bunch of nebulous players coming and going in Pro sports and playing musical teams.  However I do understand rooting for your team in your geographical area.  If you can afford it you can actually see them play.

They had no choice Saxon73, before Curt Flood those guys were glorified indentured servants.  Yogi Berra had to work for UPS in the off season just to pay his mortgage while the Yankee ownership rode their backs for millions.  Maybe some of the romanticism is out of today's professional sports environment but, I will give up the romanticism to not be a party to such exploitation.

'gro

wait, Jose, If gro remembers correctly don't you do your lawyering against unions? (not that sports unions and real labor unions are similar, and you're right about the old yankees).

In gro's hey day he was getting served grievances once or twice a week.

JQV

Gro is right.  Jose represents the man in labor and employment matters.

However, I don't do a lot of traditional union work in Florida.  Not a strong union presence in this open shop state.

As Pep has stated earlier, when AU is winning, AU Pep Band sounds all that much better to Saxon fans' ears. But Pep is pleased with the evident progress of this year's band... but most importantly, they're having a heck of a lot of fun.
