Yanks 99

After reading dewcrew's fine article, something struck me.  Yes Boltus' mega yardage is worthy of note so I check Keeley's stats and found a 79% completion report.  Actually, higher if you consider the two interceptions were completions but to the wrong guys.

Saxon...both QB's were absolutely sick last Saturday.  553 yards by Boltus is unbelievable.  But you are dead on...Keeley was incredible.  Very, very efficient.  I think what is missed in all of this is the fact that in nearly 100 passing attempts by both teams, and over 800 yards passing, there were only 3 sacks.  The offensive lines for both teams were great Saturday.

You make good points.  I had posted the other day that I thought AU's defense was too conservative.  Would have liked more blitzes and checkups on the receivers.  Crea was releasing and cutting across the middle it seemed like forever.

One thing about Keeley is the poise he shows, plus his ability to find one of the number of potential receivers.  I think the run v pass balance is a real strong point for the Saxons.

Hey Pep,

Just to let you know, my friends "down south" are currently 6-0, once again.  I just can't get my two beautiful daughters to use their guile.  I'm still trying.

Whew, needed a couple of days off to recharge after my Packers laydown (I'd have sworn they were taking a dive in the second half) and the latest no show for the yanks.

Hey Dew, your quote from 10/2 ATR: "Hartwick needs to show me something against Alfred to stay in that spot (#9)". So what did they need to show you? Would a win against Alfred have gotten them the #9 again?

They needed to win. Or at least lose by maybe 1 or 3.

Just to hold on to the 9 spot?

No. They would have definitely moved up with a victory.

Admirals - As a Saxon I understand your frustration.  The Saxons have in recent years been known as the Rodney Dangerfied of the E8.  We have been knocking on the door for thr past few years.  We have gone through similar dissrespect.  I guess it's difficult to suddenly rise to the cream of the crop.

Having been at the game I would comment that the HC explosive offense was consistently and methodically responded to by the AU offense.  With some bizzare penalties and AU giving up about 100 yds as such, the final score might be a bit missleading.  I don't really want to comment on the poll numbers but will say HC apparently is quickly becoming a force in E8.

All right I'm going to move on. As well as 'wick has played Carr does have some things to work on if he wants to finish strong and have any shot at beating SC.

1. He needs to find a short yardage solution. Against AU he threw 4 passes in a row from something like the one. I was at the IC game and at one point he tried 3 QB sneeks in a row to get a yard into the end zone. Time for plan "C". He should try the fullback Rizzo, the kid is a friggen tank, gets two or three touches a game and it takes half the damn defense to bring him down.

2. Go to that D1 soccer team and pull some kid who doesn't speak english down the hill for kick-offs. Their defense is bend don't break, but when the other team is starting at midfield after every kickoff it doesn't take much to break.

Agree with the whole poll thing. Quite frankly the polls are more about long term recognition, not to be confused with respect. Lets be honest how many of the people voting have ever seen the teams play. They are voting on scores they read. When HC beats IC and SJF they hit the radar. Now their next couple of games are against weak opponents, if they play the way they have against IC, SJF and AU they should have huge lopsided wins. If they do the voters see nothing more than that and presto they move up.

Admiral - (actually some years ago I was privileged to attend Office of Naval Research meetings on behalf of Motorola )  I don't know where AU found their kickoff specialist but he put several kicks into the endzone. The punt and kickoff return guys for AU did a very good job and we have a field goal kicker.  From all the discussions the AU special team players have not gotten their just dessert - again reinforcing my personal thoughts of the AU diversified or "complete" team so far.
