Well I'm glad he's a mudder, because there's no mud on the fisher field, as it is the new field turf

No love for the Seinfeld quote Superman?  Seinfeld was such a big fan of yours too...tis a shame.

Guess who's back. Gotta love the hate. Ok OK, so I heard that Fisher has 3 national titles, I stand corrected. Congrats. But what when was that when players didn't where helments. Never the less Titles are title can't argue you with that.
I never said that AU was the greatest team. I said that I don't agree with Fisher even being compared to Ithaca.

Theicdubbz- being cut from your backyard flag football team doesn't make you a player. HATE HATE HATE

Booby Hates King. I can take that

The fact of the matter is Fisher and Alfred are teams that are very much improved and yes Fisher has beat AU 3 of the last 4 games. But if Fisher is a considered "great" why are the games usually within a touchdown or so.

Bomber27, you have a message, let me know

In the past five years, Ithaca has outscored Alfred 153-32.

You can argue until the cows come home, regarding who is the bridesmaid, but it's extremely clear that Alfred is nowhere near in Ithaca's class.

I wish I could be back home in Rochester to see that game. Instead, I'll be listening on my laptop in the parking lot of Tiger Stadium while tailgaiting for the Tulane/LSU game on Saturday night. We (Tulane) are going to get pummeled; LSU got jobbed pretty bad against Auburn, in my opinion, and will likely take it out on the Green Wave. Whatever, we just beat Miss State so we'll be bragging about beating an SEC team for about the next ten years.

I agree with Tecmo's analysis about IC's improvements and question marks. It's amazing how we can be so confident in the team as a whole, but questions at that one position cause us to doubt the result. QB is obviously an important position. Basically, I think both defenses are much better than last year but both offenses may not be as potent. That's why they play the games, of course.

Jose, you're a UF guy, right? If so, kick Chris Leak in the nuts for me when you see him. I firmly believe he cost me $110 on Saturday night. I know he had good numbers but didn't it seem like he made a lot of mistakes in that game? I feel bad for the guy because he hasn't come close to the hype he came in with, but he has to be smarter. I even heard someone mention him in the same sentence as Ron Powlus on Saturday night.

P.S. Dubbz, there are pictures in law books. In fact, my "Trusts and Estates" book has a picture of Anna Nicole Smith in it. Of course, it's a head shot. Lame.

Well, come on Tecmo, no one's arguing that Alfred holds a candle to Ithaca. I think King's main point is that he doesn't think Fisher does either.

And using those numbers doesn't really illustrate your point. If it was 133-3 until last year, when Alfred won 29-20 (hypothetical, don't yell at me), then I would side with King that Alfred is indeed up and coming, which is all he's saying, albeit annoyingly and not convincingly. In the last SEVEN years, IC has outscored Fisher 267-133, but that includes 52-0 and 44-0 victories that don't mean anything anymore.

In fact, in the last five years, IC has scored more points on Fisher than Alfred. That ain't means Alfred will beat "The Cardinal" this year.

Addendum: I'm not trying to put forth an opinion, except to say that in college football there is mandatory turnover every four years, and so anything can happen and "history" has less bearing on the future of a program than in pro sports. It of course increases recruiting, but there are many other factors that draw kids to a school, especially in DIII. I of course site Fisher as my main example of a school that can turn it around fast, and see no reason why the same might not happen to Alfred in the near future.

maxpower

"cite" Fisher. Sheesh, come on Max.

tecmobowler

Then the best I can give you is my personal observation.  In the past five years, I have never seen Alfred generate any offense whatsoever.  They've been somewhere on the Utica/St. Lawrence level. I would be surprised if they averaged 2 yards a carry last year.

King's argument that Fisher is a one man show is pretty interesting.  A few years back Raymer carried the Saxons to .500 seasons.  He was replaced by Brady (who also played multiple positoions) who seemed to carry a whole defense, and was the only guy I saw that could gain a yard on the ground.

Maybe they've just had bad days against Ithaca... but I just don't see it.  Just don't see it....

At the same time Fisher has an incredible back, and another who is at least solid.  They have a huge, quality offensive line.  They graduated an all american WR.  THey had a kicker who could boom one about 50 yards. Their LB averages about 15 tackles a game.  They have great facilities (sans the visiting bleachers), and should be able to continue solid recruiting. I see none of this in Alfred.

There is a name from the past.  That guy did it all.  He might even have gotten to Merrill Field early to cook the hot dogs and played tuba for PepBand at halftime.  Seriously though, that guy was a stud.

The guy seems to be a victim of circumstance.  That is hard for me to admit because I am among the biggest Leak haters of all.  But he has played in three different offenses in four years, only one of which fit his talents.  He throws a nice ball with a lot of touch and will probably be a great coach someday (he is a pretty well documented film room rat).  I just think his feet and his release are too slow for this system.  Most people in Gatorland are just counting the days until the Tebow era begins.

Although, sliding short of the marker on 3rd down in the 4th Quarter was among the most chicken **** things I have ever seen...
