You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Fisher-Harry Potter need I say more they are the hero of this story, they are the reason that the E8 is on the map now, and they also lost someone like a parent in school president Katherine Keough

Ithaca-Albus Dumbeldore they are the old wisemen, they have been to the dance before and if provoked can kick some major arse and with all those hippies, they must be a little fruity

Alfred-Hermoine They are close to Fisher (harry) they are smart and wise and are capable of some huge moments, but have yet to make the leap to being a star

Hartwick-Ron Weasly-they are also at the party but are still a little immature, give them some time to grow and they will step up to make huge moves,

Springfield-Sirius Black can be a huge star and make great moments, but their greatest strength is also their biggest weakness

Utica-Neville they are their they can make some stirs, (see back to this if they beat Hartwick or Fisher) but for the most part are to clumsy to make a difference

Norwich-Wormtail-TRAITOR

Brockport-Snape Likes to cheat, can't be trusted (just kidding PG)

Mount Union-He Who Must Not Be Named-They are the evil empire, no one can stop them or so we think, Harry has done battle already, and needs to be victorious over He Who Must not be named to claim glory

Pat Coleman-J.K. Rowling come on pat is the puppet master of D3

wow,

Do we need to hire a babysitter to prevent these kind of shenanigans by the night crew?  Harry Potter?  Really?

Moving on.  Where is fan of d3 with a SC update.  What can the Bombers expect after the drive to Mass?

Okay, I'm back from Albany; I was just there for 1 night and an Internal Control Conference.  I actually ran into an Alfred alum of the same class as Kaz00 and I tried to recruit him for Saterday's game in Geneva!  I stopped at a former apartment-mate's house on the way back through and got him out of a commitment on the 3rd to make it to the Ithaca game.  The playoffs start now for the Saxons!

Anyway, 8 hours in my rental Dakota game me lots of time to think through everything in the East (and call Pep a couple times to keep sane).  What I came up with is that I think Alfred has the talent to win each and every one of these last three games.  However, we will see exactly what they are made of and if they have that quality which is necessary to win these games.  You can call it heart, guts, desire, execution, discipline, preparation or maybe it's all of those things.

On the flip side, I think the same can be said about Hobart, Ithaca and Fisher, so I expect each of these games to be pick'ems.  That means that there is a 75% chance that Alfred will enter the second week of November needing a win at Growney to advance to the NCAAs.

And here is my last "scenario" post before I take the advice of Sarge and root for the Saxons to just win.  How about the biggest Pool C imbrolgio that I can come up with?  Let's say that Hartwick, Ithaca and Hobart win out, Alfred beats Fisher, and Cortland beats TCNJ.  That would leave us with the following teams with 2 losses: Alfred, Cortland, Fisher, Ithaca, Hartwick, Hobart, and New Jersey.  In that scenario RPI, Alfred and Cortland would get the AQs (I think) and leave Fisher, Ithaca, Hartwick, Hobart and New Jersey to fight over 2 Pool C spots (unless Plymouth State steals one of those).  Ugh.

sarge- we will see.
to see him in action is to understand the level of talent!

I dont know this kid and have never seen him, but...  if I had to make a prediction on just what I have heard from my always knowledgable (is that a word?) colleagues on the E8 PP boards, I would say that he has a good game.  Maybe around 10 tackles, maybe an interception late due to SJF being up.  Solid, nothing GREAT.
Why?
Cause I first ask myself, "Is this kid on the same level of a Brenton Brady?"  The answer I come up with is a resounding NO.  Over 4 years, what did Brady do against SC?  He was solid.  @10 tackles and assignment perfect, allowing everyone else to become better, as he was prolly a big part of their blocking focus throughout the week and on Saterday.
Not only that, but Brady was a LB, someone who would be involved in much more of the defensive part of the game.

SJF wins by 17pts.

Sarge,

Stepnick turned out to be a big factor against Springfield.  They play him at Free Safety against SC (same as in 2005 and 2006) which allows him to fill the alley and make tackles on the outside option play to either direction.  Stepnick finished with 17 total tackles on saterday, with 2 tackles for a loss.

You win.  17 tackles isnt shabby.  I cant remember who it was, but someone from SJF posted on here and explained that there is a comparison to Brady and that Stepnick is that good.  I conceded that they are comparable.  Just wanted to clear my name of the quote from above.
Putting him at safety was a good move.

Sarge----wanst trying to purs salt on a wound.
Just emphasizing a great performance- and i do understand the comparison was apples to oranges.
both are talents in their own right.

While we seem to be looking so forward, does the Saxon victory over Husson actually mean anything?

Although a win over a (then) 5-2 then may mean something, I don't see it as big win for AU.  Husson was beat handily by SC and well, they haven't exactly had a great season.

AU's season really starts this Saturday and runs thru the next 2 weeks (and hopefully into the NCAAs) with IC and SJF.

I am an AU fan this season, just not this Saterday.

TGP, this obviously is not the first time you have ventured onto the e8 boards. I can tell by such a strong "Saterday" drop.  Speaking of which, if our safety, and former protege', Brian Nitche doesnt fumble the ball into the endzone last year against 'Bart, does AU win?
This year he hangs on and so does AU, by 6.

No offense taken.  His performance was pretty hard to argue against.

KAZ00, remember the pool C spots are a national selection process.  Fisher, Ithaca, Wick, Bart and TCNJ would all be measured against conference runner-ups from all of D-III, plus any worthy Pool B teams that did not get a pool B bid.

Did we ever get video confirmation if he fumbled the ball before or after crossing the goal line?

That play bothered me the most from the 2006 Saxons season.  Number 2 was the "inadvertant whistle" that kept the Saxons out of the end zone while trailing 7-3 to Fisher.  I'd have liked to see how those games would have turned out if those calls were never made.  So much for home field advantage, huh?
