All the parity in the last few years certainly looks good for "Emporer" Chuck Mitrano, does it not? Can anyone say Conspiracy? Hartwispiracy?

He wants as many E8 teams in the postseason as possible (NCAA or ECAC), it looks as though the E8 may get in 4 teams to the NCAA's and ECAC's..

I wanted to bring this back up to the front of the E8 board, because I think it's important.  However, if Ithaca doesn't get a Pool C bid are they eligible for the ECACs?  Last year they opted to have Cortaca serve as their bowl and as of 10/31 The Frank Rossi did not have them listed as potential participants for this year.

Well, the deadline for ECAC Playoffs declaration is TOMORROW (Thursday) at 5PM EDT.  And here's the long list of Upstate New York/New England schools that have declared as of 10AM EDT today:

Alfred University (E8)
Bridgewater State College (NEFC)
Coast Guard Academy (NEFC)
Curry College (NEFC)
Hartwick College (E8)
Plymouth State University (NEFC)
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (LL)
St. John Fisher College (E8)
Western Connecticut State University (NJAC)
William Paterson University (NJAC)
University of Rochester (LL)

Ok so I was thinking that game that all the playoffs hinge on should be bet on... So I am going to make a bet to Pep, Kazoo and Saxon...and anyone else who might be there and willing to get in on this bet...

so the losers have to buy the winners plates after the game....

You'd have to offer odds to make it fair.  I'd imagine that plates for the next 5 years would be an appropriate wager against a plate after the game.  Kaz00 is going to a college buddy's place for dinner, so I wouldn't be able to fulfill my end of the wager.  Perhaps when you guys travel down to Mayberry for the East Region final in December, Pep and I can buy you a plate as a condolence!

There is no such thing as odds in a bet like this.  Its a pride thing and points are not allowed.  If it was Notre Dame vs. Ohio St. for example, you still would not get points if you pulled for ND.  Besides that, SJF should be giving US points. In the words of John Elway in the huddle just before THE DRIVE -  "We got 'em right where we want 'em."
I sure could go for a garbage plate by the way.  They dont make 'em like that (or at all) down here in the dirty south.

Kaz00, Frank would have to answer if they decided to opt in or not before the deadline but, they have decided not to in previous years.  There are a lot of theories why or why not so I won't speculate how that decision is made.  I am ok with it though.  After Cortaca, my attention moves on.

Ithaca has opted not to vie for a ECAC bid.
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

If I was a player and we didnt play in an ECAC game I would be pretty pissed, especially if I was a senior.  Besides, isnt it a chance to help prove your worth (especially this year to a team in IC's position that prolly won't make the playoffs) against the critics and other leagues?  Dont you think by winning in the ECAC's against other leagues that it could help get you in if another situation like this year arises, like next year?
On the other hand, I like Jose's thought process.  Cortica is huge and to play after that weekend would be a let down in anything other than the national playoffs.  I went twice.  Forgot my name and/or made up a new one by halftime of each.

CORTACA!

It's Cortland + Ithaca = Cortaca

Sorry Pet peeve.

I think thats the biggest point Sarge.  Obviously no one on here knows the real reasons that Welch and the Bombers decide not to go to ECACs and I agree with a lot of your points for a lot of teams.  But Cortaca is THE game for these schools and it's gotta be tough to get up for another game after that.  I am fine with IC skipping a (basically) meaningless game after the biggest game of the year.

Knightstalker

Why is it Cortaca and not Ithaland?

Ask Dick Carmean, IC '60, and Tom Decker, C-State '60.

admirals_vt

According to the ECAC web site IC has declared for the bowl games. I presume they could decline if selected, but they are currently listed as declared.

JQV

no you can't decline now.  the confusion probably just stems from the fact that Frank posted the list as of the start of the final day to submit.

I think jose subtly let us know that we are expecting Jose Jrs. in the near future
