I missed John Carroll, how I could have missed Shula U is beyond me.

QuoteBut honestly, when u say 3 points all year, it does make Mount look awesome, but at the same time it makes every other team they play look miserable and terribly uncoached.

You wouldn't be saying that if you'd seen the games live.  The OAC is down, yes.  But it's not like Mount is playing high school teams week in and week out.  Don't forget, at one point this season the OAC made up 20% of the d3football.com Top 25.

I think at one point the E8 had 3 or 4 in the top 25.  Ithaca, SJF, Alfred, Springfield, Hartwick.  wait, they weren't all at the same time.  not bad though having 5 of 7 teams ranked in the top 25 throughout the year.

To have made up 20% of the top 25 in any week the OAC would have had to have 5 teams ranked, the most I counted in any week (towards the beginning to middle of season) is 4 teams.  The E8 had 3 teams ranked in one week.  I won't argue that Mount has the best ranking, they deserve it but in the last poll SJF is well above the next OAC team.  Take away MUC and both conferences are fairly even this season in my less than humble opinion.

You must've missed one in week 5.

1.  Mount Union
8.  Capital
9.  Ohio Northern
17.  Baldwin Wallace
24.  John Carroll

The way some folks are talking here you would think that Mount scheduled JV teams during the season.  The scary numbers they put up are very, very legit.

I think Mount beats Ithaca by about 35.

and while I don't agree with everything that has been said...and most of what SJF Fan has been saying, you seem to be pushing and pushing the point of IC, SJF, Hobart, RPI, etc should just head home for thanksgiving this saterday and forget about even trying.

We get it dude.  MUC is amazing, the OAC is very good.

FA91 - I assume he was talking IC QBs because we were talking about them at the top of the page and where Juvan ranked now and where he would be if IC could pull out a win.

I'm not saying that the teams might as well not show up, anything can happen.  My problem is that while everyone seems to think that I am disrepecting IC, the E8, the entire state of New York, and all college football players everywhere by saying that Mount is going to beat Ithaca soundly, no one thinks the 26 people who voted that Ithaca would beat Mount Union are disrespecting the Raiders.

For about the third time, I'm not saying you can't root for your team against Mount Union, hell, I do it every year, but to attempt to discredit MUC's stats by calling the conference weak, or to say that Mount won't win by more than 30 might be a little bit of a stretch.

Fisheralum- I'm not a Mount fan, so I don't know how that would feel.

Let me pose this hypothetical question:

If they were able to find 10 teams to play them, and swing it financially, would it be more competitive for MUC to play as a independent? I think they are 116-1 in the OAC over the last 13 years. Clearly, even though the teams may be good, they don't really challenge MUC.

I think this could also lead to a certain---I hesitate to say bias---but maybe a certain idea that OAC teams are better than their record since the MUC game basically gets marked as a loss in most people's heads before the game begins so that loss gets "excused" from the record. I don't know how far ranked teams tend to fall after losing to MUC, but it would be interesting to see if they are really penalized

For the record, Toph is a John Carroll guy.  Not MUC. ;D

Which explains his anti-"the OAC is weak" stance (of which I happen to agree with).  The difference between MUC and the rest of the OAC is that MUC gets to answer this debate on the field this Saturday.  JCU, BW and ONU don't.  So as a MUC guy, I'm more willing to just quietly debate the actual game between MUC/Ithaca than worrying about how BW might match up with Alfred.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

gotcha on the arm soreness..

Not for nothing, but I think the conversation (aside from the dynamite throwers) about the OAC being weak started when someone from the OAC suggested that it was a down year.
