Fielding percentage is a terrible stat to use. You don't get a lot of errors if you have the range of a tree trunk.

Intangibles have very little to do with how good you are at playing the game, which is what you said he was "one of the best ever" in. Maybe he's got the most intangibles ever, I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Sox fan, stop making me argue against Jeter!!

Haha, touche Pat. But there were def. better leadoff guys on the A's.....

The guy can't get on base like Jeter, doesn't have power like Jeter, can't steal bases like Jeter.... WHY DOES HE LEADOFFF PLEASE GIRARDI UNDO ALL OF TORRE'S BS AAAAAAAAAAAA

You'll find that with almost anyone when you're comparing to Jeter - he's one of the best to play the game. I think you're setting the bar a bit high there.

Well, 1) All I'm saying is Jeter should leadoff, I'm not saying Damon must be as good as him, and 2) the sentence "Jeter is one of the best to play the game".... I just don't know how to respond to that. Can you put him, somehow in the top 50? 100, maybe?

Now, Jeter is one of my favorite players and he's a great hitter and always has been... but he's also always been below-average to average at shortstop, and certainly not one of the greatest hitters ever to play....

Jeter not a great hitter?  Haha are you nuts?  Every season, Jeter is near the top of the league in total hits.  He will easily end up with 3500+ hits and will probably approach 4000 hits if he stays healthy.

Good luck to all E8 Nation teams tomorrow - put in a good showing.

Agreed Tags...I hope its a great day for the E8 tomorrow.  If I was an Ithaca fan, I would be excited as hell right now.  Maybe they are the great MUC...but like SJF last year, a good/great showing (upset maybe???) and it brings instant credibility to Ithaca (not that it needs much) and the entire E8.

Here is hoping for a BIG upset with Ithaca, and a SJF-Hartwick rematch!!!  And before most SJF fans jump on me...I am only hoping for a rematch because it will mean that 'Wick wins their first NCAA playoff game ever.  Once you get to the "Sweet 16" you can't avoid anyone that is good...they all belong.

Yanks I don't think any Fisher fans will jump down your throat for that statement....Since Mount Union joined our bracket we have bonded and are one happy family united in our quest to have a good showing.  I would absolutely love a SJF vs. Hartwick rematch because that will mean at least 3 more wins in the playoffs for the E8

Man...I am like a kid before Christmas right now.  I got friends at every E8 game tomorrow...so cell phones will be going crazy for sure.  Only thing that sucks is that I have to get up about 4 AM tomorrow to drive to Milton to go watch the 'Wick-Curry game.

I'm with you Booby...how great would it be to have 3 x E8 teams in the Sweet 16, and a guaranteed E8 team in the Elite 8.  This conference has a chance to truly be one of the elite league's in the country.  What does it say about your league when a class act, and phenominal player, like Chris Sharpe...the reigning D3 P.O.Y...only gets honorable mention all-league with the number's he put up (obviously it killed him where his team finished...but none-the-less...says a great deal about the E8).

I know you said Jeter is a great hitter.  But you also said Jeter is not one of the greatest hitters ever.  He might end up catching Pete Rose before he is finished.

But, I do agree, Go Bombers.  Beat MUC.

Is anyone from Ithaca actually driving to Alliance tomorrow...or tonight?  Me and my wife would be there in a second if somehow, someway, 'Wick made the Regional Finals against MUC.

I wish I knew. I think he would be, now that he "officially" put his hat in the ring. Just speculation, though. I know that Jim Spartano, the Utica AD, will give Jellerson a chance to retain the spot.

I know he (Jellerson) doesn't like it...but the adminstration probably has to announce a national opening for the job.  I would be shocked if they didn't bring him back.  From mid-week disarray (losing to SJF 38-0), to destroying Norwich, and then playing in that classic with 'Wick...he looks like a guy that can get them to the next step.  Man...if Utica figures it out...and I have been saying for a while it doesn't look like they are that far off...this league is going to end up looking like a D3 SEC.

Yeah, I think it would be terrific if the Empire 8 got to a point when any team can beat any team any week... not there yet, but it's possible. And more success will be bring in more and better recruits.
