You know what was wierd after the MUC game too is that the players went right into the locker room after the game and no one seemed to linger on the field to say hi to the parents or anything.  I mean, Ive seen NFL games at the end where players come over to the stands and talk to family, friends and even fans.  I was at the BC/Miami game on Sat, and both teams came over and talked to family.

MUC wouldnt even let anyone on the field.  I guess they just meet outside the locker room or something.

But thats one tradition I loved at IC.  Everyone stays on the field, and parents, friends and everyone gets to come on and take pictures and what not.  Also gives you a chance to meet up with a friend you might have on the other team.

I dunno, I guess it must be some sort of tradition there.

About leaving the game early......I am one of the fans that usually leaves at half-time if the game is like it was last weekend.  I had a houseful of people at my place for the holiday weekend, and to be honest I really don't get any enjoyment watching the game in the second half with a score like that.  However, I don't have a kid playing, I am much older, so my view is going to be different.

I think we can talk about last year.....the way both teams played during the regular season this year.....the strength (or lack thereof) of each conference......but I think an interesting comparison between the two teams might be the stats, etc...they have amassed/produced during their two playoff games.  I think that gives a better indication of how each team is PLAYING NOW, and what tendencies each may exhibit.  Does anyone have access to SJF's stats from their two playoff games?

I think you will find the Mount fans very animated this weekend.  The students are back (that means the second wave of the Purple Guys will be there), and the fans do get into the game when it's a good one.  The tribal elders on the covered side leave something to be desired (especially if it's cold out), but there are a lot of passionate fans who get into the games.  I will admit we are a product of Mount's success.  The run they have been on since about two years after Larry Kehres took over is amazing.

One other thing......the "move up"...."play up" card has been played often these past few years.  Mount is a small (2200?) college that has no desire or motivation to move up to D-II.  Although competitive in other sports (track comes to mind) they don't dominate any other sport in the OAC.  I mean an argument could be made that Marietta (OAC school) should/could move up to D-II in baseball.  They have had the dominate team in baseball for quite a long time in the OAC.

Back to the game........I think for Fisher it comes down to if Mount limits/shuts down Fisher's running game, can the Fisher passing game score four touchdowns to beat/compete with Mount?

Oh...JU about after the game.  I think Mount has this mind-set that it is "business as usual".  And almost everyone meets up with the players in/outside the locker room.  It's just the way it's been for as long as I remember.

fisheralum91

Skunks-
The game sounds too clinical at MUC.
Biz as usual--ho hum.

No disrespect- but here is to hoping that fisher goes in there and shakes some of the "boring" habbits that you guys are used to.

New blood- new energy--something.

fisheralum91

Oh- also- i have no problem with a loyal fan base---but when you get 70+ yr olds in the stands knitting and not moving because it is their season ticket- and then complain because ppl make noise---something is off.

bingo is down the street

I dont think that size plays as big of a role as one might think.  There are plenty of small D-I schools that do just fine in a number of sports (Wake Forest in bball and fball and Hobart in lax off the top of my head).  Also, a school can move up in just one sport.  For instance St. Lawrence is D3 in all sports except hockey (and suck in football... had to).  If they dont want to move up, well thats another story.

fisheralum91

sarge- that was where i was going with the hobart lax move.

As for the game-- we will see on sat.

skunks_sidekick

As has been discussed often on the OAC board, a school cannot move up in just one sport.  The NCAA passed that rule a while back, and did grandfather in a select few schools that had played a certain sport at the D-I level for a long time while still playing all other sports at the D-III level.  Now your choices are if you want to move up in say football to D-I, you must be at least a D-I AA (even if you are non-scholarship) in all other sports.

FA91 - you are absolutely right.  However, I think the geezer set that sits in the covered stands are also the ones that donate big $$ to the school when they finally DO move on.  I can't see the college telling any of those folks that they can't have their season tickets any more that they have had for 50 years.

fisheralum91

Skunks-- Understood on the geezer thing-- i had no problem minus the part where they didnt--wouldnt---move and then complained about crowd noise.
Seemed crazy.
As for the move up--i was not aware of that rule.
RIT hockey just went D1 last year yet the remainder of programs are d3.
Are you sure about that rule?

Pat Coleman

That rule is correct.

Football and basketball, the NCAA's money sports, have different rules than hockey in this regard.

82- I dont pick it up in Utica - but often the live feed is posted on the fisher site and i listen then.
Unfortunately im going to be huddled by my phone in the middle of a big fam function.  Cant really sit at a computer and be reclusive with 7 kids under the age of 5 running around the parents house.

That's where the duct tape is needed.

Then a week later you see Micheli "the running QB" set Stagg Bowl records for passing.  Even the national announcers were shocked.  Do you ask yourself how that happened?  Are you curious?  The fact is that Kehres can morph the team (offense & defense) anyway he wants and can limit the "real" looks that teams get of Mount on film (tape).  His ability to manipulate your perception of what Mount is or is not is one of his greatest strengths.

No.  The fact is that MUC has a division 1 transfer caliber player at WR that makes him pretty good.  So no, Im not that suprised.

If your "perception" is that Mount's passing game is purely Garcon, which I'm going to assume since you did not mention the QB or any other receivers in your argument then that's fine.  Exactly my earlier point about Mount letting you believe what they want you to believe.  Good-luck with that outlook this weekend!

Mount's nothing, they couldn't catch a football even if they had the biggest net in the world, LK is the worst coach in the world, my grandma could do better than him... nate Kmic isn't good enough to hold my jock...
