Side note: I wish the new A&E center was built by the terraces and not BOOTHROYD! Can any ICer tell me why the *beep* we are building way the balls down there??? Put the thing in the visitor parking lot between the field hockey and practice football field.  That makes more sense than building half way to Cornell and 2 miles away from Butterfield!

Dubz, admitting first that I know nothing of architecture/planning, I would guess that it is infinately easier to build on the flat land by Boothroyd as opposed to up the hill above the terraces.

Ithaca 17th ungliest ampus in america

17. Ithaca College- Ithaca pales horribly next to Cornell. Their proximity just emphasizes the beauty of the architecture at Cornell and the absolute lack of any kind at Ithaca. Sure, Ithaca is "gorges" but the campus is a bunch of gray buildings that just blend into the ground. I was extremely unimpressed by Ithaca College, but Cornell looked amazing. It got just left off my list of beautiful colleges, which I apologize for. Sorry, Cornell.

Unfortunately the buildings are ugly and it is magnified by Cornell across the way....but the view is unmatched.  However, it was interesting that the E8 got 2 on the bad list....

What was the second E8 school on the "bad list" for ugliest campus in America--and who compiled such a dubious list?

Ithaca and RIT were on the list from the E8, RIT is a non-football playing member I believe.  Rowan from the NJAC was on the list as were SUNY, Buffalo, Binghamton and Albany.
Complete List this was posted on the LLPP last night.

Thanks, KS....wow. There are some ugly campuses. I guess Pep couldn't really include Ithaca College on that list because of the gorges view and besides, Pep has found it difficult to get a true view of the IC campus as he's never participated in a Bomber fly-over.

Here in Alfred, a beautiful AU campus is responsible for attracting a good number of its students. Those who have visited speak highly of the nice mix of new and old buildings, all either recently renovated or nicely restored. As for architecture, there's no match for the Steinheim, home of AU's career development center, once AU's geology museum. BTW, Pep's sis is office manager of the CDC at the Steinheim that Friday, Dec. 7 is celebrating ten years in the facility.

Don't bother looking at Alfred's webcams....everything's WHITE!

This is the best looking building on the NJCU campus.  It is the admin building and houses the theatre.

yeah, it was ithaca and rit.  Sounds like the writer is from the Buffalo area.  I thought it was funny that he bunched a number of SUNY schools together.  Not many of them offer too much to look at.

I caught the article on si.com yesterday.

The College of New Jersey ranked 6th on The Princeton Review's "Happiest Students" list, edging out Yale University (#10), the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (#12), and Amherst College (#13), among others. TCNJ also emerged as one of the top 20 (#18) on the "Most Beautiful Campus" ranking, one spot ahead of Swarthmore College.

They obviously did the "happiest students" poll immediately following the victory over Rowan this year.  ;)

One lady who works at a public library said that there's a weird fellow (developmentally disabled) who follows her around the library....rubbing himself.

So, she was from Fisher?

very cool JP.  +k.

We have the Rev in LLPP and an actual Reverend from the OAC.

I still hope to make it to Saint John's game sometime, though...show up in my collar, sit with the monks, and root for the Purple Raiders!

Post on Kubiack, adding a regular Whitewater poster will really add to the diversity of the E8 board.  We already get the occasional OAC, NJAC, LL, NEFC, etc.

If I'm elected president of the E8PP I vow to diversify even more, reaching out to the Southern Conferences and maybe bring in some MHB fans or Trinity, etc.  I will bait them to the E8 board with disparaging remarks about their team, and once they get here I will smother them with kindness and surely they will remain.

Booby in '08!

thanks Booby I'll keep posting not much else to do besides running convoys

The SUNY campuses at Oneonta and Purchase are both spectacularly ugly.  Purchase buildings are gigantic cubes with a window here and there; they look like something you'd see on the top shelf of a Sam's Club way in the back.  Everything is made of brick at O-State.  The windows are difficult to see out of because the glass, too, is actually made of brick.

The thing about IC's campus is it is arrayed in a plain rectangle and none of the buildings really look like each other, which I can see would not be aesthetically pleasing to a stranger.  The nicest building to look at (not counting the Fitness Center) is probably the chapel or Gannett; ugliest inside and out goes to Hill Center.

SUNY campuses tend to be ugly. While the campuses are on opposite hillsides, the AU campus is much more navigable, having been somewhat "terraced" so that one can traverse from one end of the campus to the other without encountering much of a hill. Not so across the way, where SUNY built a big circular loop around the campus, which leaves one climbing hills no matter where one goes.

Pep remembers the SUNY construction of the 60s in Alfred. Of particular note is MacKenzie Complex, which, as legend goes, the architect, purported to have taken his own life, designed the residence hall in the shape of a swastika, although one wing was turned to corrupt the plan. The place is a maze. Pep once delivered newspapers there.

I'm also married to a priest.  Maybe in '09 we'll visit my folks in Webster, go to the game, both of us wear our collars and some purple, and mess with the RC's by holding hands! :D

The church moves slowly and deliberately but I think I'll see the end of the chaste clergy in my lifetime.  I do not think, however, I will see the end of the all male clergy in my lifetime.
