Ironic that I had to go to the E8 board to find discussion of UR football.  :D

Clarence Onyiriuka looks like a load.  We'll see week two (UR's week one).

That's the major drawback with the UAA - too wide-spread.  I wouldn't have any idea who is on the CRWU squad, but I know (of) guys peppered throughout the E8 and LL.

If Clarence becomes the football equivalent of his brother Jon (basketball) he will indeed be a load.  I saw very little of him last year but he seems to prefer making contact rather than eluding  a defender.

I expect CWRU will be pretty good this year, no?  Maybe not the match of the teams from the '40's but still.   :D

The irony was that the discussion was on E8 not LL.

CWRU should be a top 25 team.  Only five starters are gone, but those five were premier players (4 All-Region) and either played OL or LB.  Still two All-Region players return.

Ok UofR gets talked about here, because they routinely get Fed to Fisher... and then they go play with alfred in the ECAC's

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Wow, midseason activity from the night shift.  I think I could read Fisher explanations of why they will run with Mount all day and night.  Each one is funnier than the last.  Since we are still a month or so away from it all, I fully expect a "if they all sleep through their alarms we got a shot" post before it is all over.

By the way...

Quote from: boobyhasgameyo on July 17, 2008, 06:26:37 AMThat Ithaca-Fisher game a few years ago that ended in the phantom interception, that was a pretty good one.

Finally someone admitted it.  +k for candor.

Thanks for the +k, I was right near the endzone that the interception happened and it did hit the ground, but like I've said many times that still didn't assure Ithaca of anything.  They still had to find a way to score that drive, then stop Fisher, then score again themselves before that game would be over.  Also I think a lot of the Fisher people are optimistic because Mount Union did lose what 17 starters?  Sooner or later they will have to stop reloading the way they do and come back down to earth a little bit.  At least one would think.....

1) I was at Midfield when it happened, all I saw was Stepnick dive for the ball come up with and make a slap on the ball as if he was pissed because he didnt get it.  Then the ref signaled INT and all hell broke loose...

2) Mount will never stop reloading.  Im just hoping for a "lull" in their recruiting efforts.  However regardless of how many they got coming back they are still coming off a loss in the championship game and they probably wont forget Corey Jacksons TD celebration.  It could get ugly if SJF doesnt show up to play on D...

Pep would say the only problem he has with CWRU being a Top 25 team is their incredibly weak schedule.  Pep wonders whether Case would have gone 10-0 last year if their last three games were at Hobart, at Ithaca and at St. John Fisher rather than Chicago (4-5), Washington, MO (7-3) and Ohio Wesleyan (4-6). But then before that, there was Oberlin, Kenyon, Hiram and Gallaudet(?)

Rochester will be a good test but Pep thinks Carnegie Mellon will beat the Reserve in '08.

Lots of people have admitted it wasn't an interception. In fact, more often people from the Fisher side admit it was a bad call than people from the Ithaca side admit that they'd still have had to score and get a two-point conversion or score and stop Fisher in a third overtime if they wanted to win that game.

Considering that SJF to that point put up 573 yds of offense it probably wasnt happening either, so it was probably a good thing that the ref just ended it then instead of just delaying the inevitable...

The early line is SJF (+30.5) ;D

Oh boy 30.5- thats nice.
I certainly hope that there is some sarcasm there --
If things do get shored up on D- this one could be closer than you think coach.

Of course there were creampuffs in CWRU's 2007 schedule, as with almost every team's, and overall the schedule was weak.  But Oberlin finished third in the NCAC (still not the class of the three teams at the end of Alfred's schedule) , Washington beat NCC, a second round playoff team, and CMU won an ECAC bowl.  And CWRU won a playoff game.

No, I don't think CWRU would have beaten SJF, but they were a top 10 team.  I would have given us a chance aginst Ithaca and Hobart.  But I was surprised Pat (USA Today) ranked CWRU #16, considering the players who have to be replaced.

I'd give WashU a better chance of beating CWRU that CMU.

Having had my say, I shall depart, since there are no E8 teams on the schedule.

It should really be +28.5

CWRU...you're welcome here anytime. Pep doesn't know too much about Washington U. but knows that Alfred has always had fits with CMU.

But Pep will never forget he and his four-man pep band sitting in the stready rain at the (very nice) new CWRU stadium for three hours during AU's 14-0 win. Pep loves the way the dorms surround the field but Pep wasn't happy with event staff that took a no umbrella/no shelter policy too far. The band still has music that shows the effects of a good long afternoon in the rain.  ;)

Yeah but the fact that we don't even know for sure if it's a joke (and Fisher is a top 10 team) is a testiment to Mt. Union's program lol
