Oh boy 30.5- thats nice.
I certainly hope that there is some sarcasm there --
If things do get shored up on D- this one could be closer than you think coach.

Hence the  ;D

It should really be +28.5

Is there anything to tell us that this isn't a realistic spread??

boobyhasgameyo

Yes PG it's called losing 17 starters including the best wide receiver in their school's history.  Does anybody else not see this as at least a small uncertainty as to how the season will play out for them?  I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.  I realize their backups played a significant amount last year due to the blowouts they had, but I wouldn't say it's automatic they will steam roll Fisher by 30.

I dont think it will have any effect on their season, long term anyways.  If a team were to sneak up on them it would be early in the season.

Isn't the running back that ran all over you a few years ago still there?  They are obviously good at retooling since they haven't dropped off since 93 or so.

boobyhasgameyo

Yeah he is still there, and God don't you know it, it was kind of hard to focus completely on him by stacking the box when you had the deep threat of Garcon you had to pay attention to.  Also, I guess they will continue to win at the level they do forever, the other 200+ teams might as well pack it in.  I mean when the Celtics won 11 straight championships I suppose the rest of the NBA should have folded.  Or the Canadians in Hockey.  Or the Yankees in baseball.  Just pack it innnn everyone, no point!!

Let me ask this to a Mount Union person since I honestly do not know, have they ever lost that many starters from one season to the next?

Yes, yes he is.  However their O-line is gone and the entire SJF D-line returns including a healthy Becton who barely played in the East Finals due to injury.  Also SJF didnt keep their gap responsibility on running plays and were caught out of position on cut backs.  If SJF keeps their lanes they'll have a chance to slow him down a bit.  Dont get me wrong here, he's going to get his because there is basically no stopping the kid.   However you cant let him break big ones that end in scoring chances or a change in field position.   SJF will have some new wrinkles this season, hopefully it pays off.

More power to you.  Hope you both are right.  But I guess to me it's one of those see it to believe it types of things

See what? That Fisher won't lose by 30? Since that's what we were discussing.  Well didn't you see it 2 years ago on the day Kmic ran wild?  But that's fine, as I was saying before I just don't think it's automatic Mount Union will win by that margin, I'm not saying they will be terrible by any means.

Alright I am out for now, good to see a somewhat steady flow on these boards the past couple days.  Oh how I have missed it so!

Im trying to be both optimistic and realistic.  Im hoping with all their losses in addition to what SJF brings back and the new stuff that they'll be installing im hoping for a very competitive game....

Yeah. Because Mount Union has NEVER lost a bunch of starters before. And shoot, "the best wide receiver in their school's history" has gone through at least three times during their run of titles.

I think almost everyone hopes it's competitive.  Wouldn't it be something to say Mount Union had a losing record?  Even if it was after only one week!  :D
And my see it to believe it comment was more in reference the MUC falling in performance than the margin of the game

theoriginalupstate

and here comes pat to MUC's rescue...

Wow Pat using sarcasm, get out of here!  So like I said I didn't know if they ever lost that amount of starters.  You guys are right, there should be absolutely no doubt if a team loses 77% of their starting players.  Hahahaha man I was foolish for bringing that up!  Also you are right, Garcon is only a flavor of the month, a player of his calibur comes through Mount Union every 3 or so years.  That's why they all get drafted.  God I must be bringing up the worst points ever!!!  Hahahahahhaahaha sorry guys I must be trashed tonight, wayyyyyyy too many beers.  Fisher is going down hard!  Down 50 points by halftime!  190 by the end.

Well, there's a lot of denial around the board when it comes to Mount Union. Just a little reality.

I say just stop talking about Mt. Union on this board. Folks get optimistic & get shot down seconds later - it's not worth even taking the time to write it.

Fisher gave MUC a very good game 2 yrs ago, but got killed last year - I was at both of those. Given the situation of starters returning, and the fact that Fisher will be seeing them 3 years in a row, there is reason to believe it can be a good game this year - Boobs' point should be well taken.

Nobody thought Ithaca could give them a game, they did. Nobody thought Whitewater would beat them in the Championship, they did.

I know they don't rebuild, they reload, and to say otherwise is foolish. But honestly, thinking MUC is invincible like nobody can compete with them, that all gets really old.
