Travis Lee is now a journeyman infielder in the bigs, most recently in Tampa. Jose, give us a Travis Lee story!

hey tecmo did we ever think that the 3/4 doesn't work with good teams with no pressure put on the quarterback and maybe the offense should get the brunt of the failure on Sat

good OLB's in a 3-4 can get fantastic pressure on QBs.  It all depends on how you run it.  If you just have two ends standing up with contain on every play then yea, your not gonna beat good offenses.  But if you run it like the Pittsburgh Steelers did last year then your in the game.

I thought Ithaca's 3-4 in the first half was very good. Granted, Fisher didn't have the ball for that long, but Ithaca's defense was solid. On the two Robinson scores at the start of the second half, Ithaca crowded the box with eight and nine defenders. It looked like on the first touchdown, Fisher had good run blocking and Robinson just slipped through a tackle and made a studder step to break free. Second touchdown, Ithaca again crowded the box and there weren't any outside backers to track him down. Close to the same play but instead of hitting an inside gap, he went to the outside. Robinson hit the end quickly and the tight end made a good seal block to make sure no one touched him. I think there was a good upfield block from the near side receiver too once Robinson got into the secondary.

winmag-
congrats to fisher on the win...
good to see Fisher recruiting well in section 3.

Mcgraw I think the key to your statement is the first half they scored the 34 in the second- anytime you score 34 pts in any half you got to question your defensive capabilities this is just like last year when the offense must outscore the other team this defense got over confident with relatively weak teams in the beginning of the season and it showed up last saturday

baez is a game breaker, he has to get 15 touches somehow!

Morning Shift punching the clock:

Since our boy BudCrew needled us a little in Around the East, I thought I would repost his East Region top 10 and start the discussion.

1. St. John Fisher
2. Wesley
3. Rowan
4. Hobart
5. Springfield
6. Ithaca
7. Cortland State
8. Union
9. Brockport State
10. RPI

My thoughts:
-As bad as Fisher just beat us, they still don't deserve to be #1 in the Region.  To me, Rowan remains 1 in the region until someone proves otherwise.

-Cortland is way too low.  Their defense is way too good.  I think if anyone other than Rowan is going to win the region, it is Cortland.

-IC is probably better than Springfield but we don't deserve a top 5 spot after Saterday, so I am ok with that.

fisheralum91

I agree with jose.
I love Fisher, but until they prove to be a beast of the east, Rowan and Wesley look to be the top 2.
Now a New York State ranking, I would have Fisher right at the top...

Cortland and Hobart going 2,3.

theicdubbz

Yeah, Fisher being #1 doesn't sound right.  But, that gives a lot of credit to IC.  You beat them and you get respect!

#7 huh?  See my thoughts on the NJAC board.......#7.......  ???

Cortland is like the Rodney Dangerfield of the East Region right now.

What really sucks is, they are going to go the entire season without getting any respect and remain in the bottom third of the poll.  Then they are going to get smoked by IC, at home, watch us celebrate with the Jug at midfield, and fall out of the poll completely.

Tough year for you guys.

fisheralum91

cstate19- it's one mans opinion.
those who know - know that C state is good.
i just hate the "respect" card.
earn it and get it.

that said- all teams have to do that-
Fisher has to earn it-way too much season left to be arguing semantics.
