I dont think "stopping" Kmic is the answer to beating Mt. Union. In the Ithaca game, I really thought IC did an ok job on the MUC running game. There were 2 big runs where Kmic broke it to the outside and the MUC recievers had outstanding blocks to set him free. Heres how Kmics runs broke down vs IC. (Im having a "slow" day at work)....

5,3,8,3,(48TD),13,3,1,-1,3,3,(64TD),-2,2,7,0,(2TD),6,1,10,2,21,0,(1TD),8,7,3,0,2,6,1.

Thats 29 carries for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns. The whole team had 276 yards rushing and Wray only had one carry for 4 yards.

Now here is what Kmic did against SJF

6,17,6,3,58,4,(1TD),7,2,-1,0,3,5,0,4,(34TD),1,1,18,30

Thats 20 carries for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. He only had 5 carries over 10 yards and 8 for over 5 yards. But, the team had 50 carries for 416 yards rushing. So its really not Kmic that beat SJF, and Im not so sure we can even say SJF didnt do a great job stopping him. Maybe they tried too hard to stop him? Wray had 8 carries for 88 yards, and the backups had about 50 more.

Granted, Kmic was in the entire IC game (including the final drive), but if theres one thing you cant do against MUC is try to stop one player. Kmic is fast dont get me wrong, but he isnt going to pound the top d3 teams up the middle. He still needs good blocks and some timely cuts to go with those good blocks. And im not saying he isnt a top 5 running back in d3 either he is, but its his speed to the outside that makes him a top back.

You guys are missing the point. The point was not to stop one player, it's to not get torched on the gound two years straight when you're that deep into the playoffs.

Nobody was going to shut down the MUC running game the last few years, I'm saying at least slow it down... try something different for a change. Fisher never did anything different defensively in any of the 8 quarters of football, and I think that with the talent they had, they could have changed it up a little to slow that run game down & put a little more pressure on the QB to continue to make throws - that's my point.

The defense rests.

Onto the fact that NE is getting thumped down in Tampa right now.

But slow down the run game and put pressure on the qb? Geeze Tags, where did you come up with that crazy strategy?! Put Tags in the booth!

Everybody in the D3 world knows Kmic is a great back and one of the best in D3.

But I have to agree with Pat here. SJF has some very good returning DL and LB's with Pollock, Becton, Gottlieb, and Melnyk. If new starting OL for Mount Union is rusty (we can only hope) and our new starting DB's can hold up, this game could be much closer than most expect. I think Fisher has a fairly legitimate shot at winning.

Dubbz is back from a weekend in Roch-cha-cha and has a story.

Dubbz met a St. John Fisher Football player, puke, although dubbz did not lead on he was from Bomber land. So Dubbz and Cardinal continued to have a conversation about Fish's dominance in D3 football and how this kid was amazing at his position. P.S. Dubbz was bigger than this kid...and Dubbz hasnt been in a weight room since Clintons Administration. Anyways, said Cardinal was a CB and went on to say how they will be hurting this year since Blaise has left. He went on to say other annoying cardinal junk that Dubbz got sick of so Dubbz escaped the conversation by saying Fisher Football still hasn't beat Nazareth....... Cardinal player is still confused.

D shouldnt be bad, and if thei cb was talking out of school---he needs a little taste of humble pie---oh wait--that would be the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON.
Unless he contains the MUC team on his own!!

Side Note: IC's O-line is huge and Juvan is good.

Pep thought it was open season on fisher bashing. Interesting story, dubbz. It confirms Pep's suspicions that Fisher's coaching loss may be more detrimental to the program than its player losses. But then, in time, it will all be played out on the field.
