senior year on the soccer bus, I was working on some econ homework with my friends, and idodic JV player preceded to jump in and grab the paper to see what we were working on and tore it... needless to say, those freshman never ran as much as they did when they got off the bus, the coach made them stay and they ran about 6 miles... And this is because the coaches were keeping an eye on what was going on and had taught us to act like a champion and behave like one too...

I think these kids were way past what any teacher or coach could have done with them.  But Ive coached on and played on buses after football games.  Always some good-hearted shenagenians on my teams, but they were very loud and "out of control" in many cases.  This kind of stuff never came across my mind, but It seems to happen more than you think.  Its just wierd.

This town, much like others probably, has a long history of letting athletes from certain sports (Baseball, Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Basketball) getting away with pretty much anything because the players were from well to do families that usually had family members on the school board.  The coaches from these sports were also very good friends with the school board so they got away with pretty much anything...

Case in point, Junior year:  WNY's All time leading rusher (at the time) was involved with an incident where he gave the QB some paint thinner to throw on a girls car.  Needless to say him, the QB and everyone else was that was present got suspended the last week of the season with a playoff spot on the line.  Yet a couple months later a female athlete (Dad was on the school board, mom was booster club president) was caught spay painting the schools parking lot and the school exterrior brick wall.  With the state track meet a few days away she was not suspended only ordered to clean it up.

Things like this have been going on for years in this town, it was only a matter of time before something went too far.

Yea but what does the school board and booster club have to do with the police department and the crimes committed?

And it would be up to the coach to suspend those players, not the school board or booster club.  If the coach had any morals, he would have thrown those kids off the team.

And Im not sayin its as easy as that, but there must be some adults in that town.......

PBR...

seen plenty of hazing thru the day this is obviously waaay over the top and now that pbr is a parent if that happened to pbr's kid pbr would want to tear those mf'rs apart that did that to pbr's kid. surprisingly will be interesting to see but around pbr's school district all buses have cameras and video recorders now and have for several years. so no more shooting rubber bands at bus drivers head as its all on video tape now and the school district doesnt mess around anymore and expels your kid.

Supe,

I know you didn't mean this the way it sounds, and I don't want to make light of a very serious situation, but this has to be one of the funniest things ever posted on this board...

that $%^( aint happenin on Dubbz bus rides.  A team i once coached was known for shooting spit wads..... Dubbz let them do their thing for about 5 minutes on the bus ride home after one game.  Dubbz then stood up, and in a very nurturing coaching voice, explained that this was wrong.  Dubbz then counted the spit wads, straws, straw wrappers, and players doing the spitting, added them together and made each equivalent to a 100 meter sprint.    The next day at practice 4 players quit and 3 threw up.   Never had a problem after that.  The team played and acted like champions for the rest of my Tenure.

Tecmo can attest that Dubbz teams are the most well behaved and Dubbz knows all that is going on.  I hate the types of coaches like at that poor school.

Of course, you mean "Where did you coach, Toronto, eh?"

Morning boys---well- i went to rotary this morning and was all ready to make the introduction of UC's new head coach Blaise---and ---------guess what ?
No show.
So i went on a 5 minute rant on how i was a fisher alum and how far the team and the college has come in the last 20 yrs.

Gro was in Utica last weekend for a wedding.  Utica feels like Albany's alcoholic hobo uncle that no one talks to anymore but he shows up at certain family events to borrow money and proclaim his impending sobriety "starting tomorrow".

other friends described it as "Schenectady with slightly taller buildings and a brewery".

good times though.

Boy I spent half an hour looking through old posts to find that no one commented on Delaney's stories from the journal this week?  No Byers return (bummer, but not shocking) and the rumors about Bostic were true as well.

Lots of excitement about the kid from Maine on the O-Line! 6 foot 9, 280.... sweet!
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th
