The saxons travel to Massachusetts to take on Springfield.  Don't know too much about them this year.  Any one with information?  However I do know that springfield is tough at their place no matter what their record is.

That's a haul, too.  I don't envy the away team in that matchup, no matter who's hosting.  The only NY school farther out in the boonies than Alfred is Fredonia--and I'm including St. Lawrence in that analysis.  In many respects, I preferred the away games' lack of campus distractions and game day training table, but 6 hours on a Greyhound bus can cause serious cramping.

I do not think that Fisher is rebuilding, they start 9 seniors on defense, place kicker, punter and the return guys are also seniors. They start 4 seniors on offense, this as listed in the UR program. The problem with the offense is the play calling. No passes inside the hashes and many times they have more than one receiver in the same box. No short passes over the middle to a fullback or tight end. #22 is the lead blocker on some running plays, he might weigh 160 with the uniform on. If the offense does not get off to a good start, it might be time to give Hammel a chance. The Fisher linebackers need to step it up, more hits, less personal fouls.

Looks like some good matchups this upcoming weekend for the E8.  IC-SJF always a good game to watch.  The saxons travel to Massachusetts to take on Springfield.  Don't know too much about them this year.  Any one with information?  However I do know that springfield is tough at their place no matter what their record is.   I wasn't a saxon in 2004, but I remember my teammates who played that year telling me about the Hi-Lo penalty that Alfred got called for, yet Springfields entire blocking scheme consists of it.  Coach Murray was flagged with a 15 yarder after that play.

Pep was there, deuce. It happened in the second half with the Saxons rallying, having pulled to within 24-20. The illegal block was called on a successful Saxon play that had AU in the red zone. Coach Murray made a comment, perhaps something to the effect of "please call them both ways, sir" and was flagged with an unsportsmanlike. The official was a nutcase and singlehandedly stifled an AU scoring opportunity, pushing the Saxons back 30 yards. Springfield scored on its next possession and tacked on a late TD for the 38-20 win.

Yeah, Springfield is a tough place to play. It will be interesting. Pep predicts the Pride will have 190 yards rushing, 0 yards passing, while the Saxons will have 25 yards rushing, 260 yards passing. But not sure what Springfield has got.

The Pride has a very young QB who is "mistake prone." From watching him against Union he showed some serious potential and I feel that once he matures he may be quite good. Josh Carter is his name I believe and I think he has a decent future. He threw the ball a few times and did not look so great. Did have one nice TD pass though. They just looked very raw. I think it may take some time for the Pride to get close to where they once were.

THanks for the info, dlippiel. +K for ya

They might use the option a little.  Just a hunch.

Max is looking forward to finally seeing an IC game (on TV) this weekend.... hopefully it will be as exiting as the last one.

I also have to say that Trent Edwards has more composure in the pocket than any Bills quarterback I've seen in years, maybe since #12. Maybe we just finally have a decent o-line.... but how 'bout those Bills and Bombers... 3-0!

I was actually in line to buy tickets, at the window, at an Oakland A's game as Lindell was lining up the game winning kick. The ticket taker was so distraught after (they were watching it in the booth and let max sneak a peek) it took me about 90 seconds to get her on point about what she was even supposed to be doing.

Hey, that is the reason we break down film before posting in E8 Nation right?

I was just surfing past the way cool Conference Standings Page, and Hartwick really impressed me.  After only two games:

                         Conf.                   All
W-L     Pct.        W-L    Pct.     PF     PA
Ithaca                1-0    1.000       3-0    1.000    124    86
Alfred                 0-0    0.000       2-1    0.667    68    51
Norwich              0-0   0.000        2-1    0.667    80    60
St. John Fisher    0-0   0.000         2-1    0.667    47    57
Springfield           0-0    0.000       1-1    0.500    69    51
Utica                  0-0    0.000       0-3    0.000    40    84
Hartwick             0-1    0.000       1-1    0.500    105    106

I'll be reeeaaallly impressed if they can keep up those ppg totals over the whole season.
