While, AU hasn't put together an NCAA season in recent memory, they have proved that they are capable of beating elite programs like Ithaca and SJF.

Here we go....

So far the only two teams that have been able to beat SJF on more than one occasion over the past 6 years has been MUC and of all teams Hartwick....

capable and actually doing it: definitely two different things. Without looking, are both of those games at Merrill?

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but AU beat SJF in Fisher in either 04 or 05.

That would be the cluster**** season of 05, towards the end of the year they just imploded on offense, but still it was just one win vs them since 2002.

1) RPI beat SJF in 2003 and 2005. So now you're one of FOUR teams to be SJF twice in the last six years--along with RPI, IC and MUC

2) But if you're looking for something only the Hawks have accomplished here you go: They are the only E8 team who've somehow managed to lose to both Utica and Norwich in the same season. And they liked it so much they did it twice. In consecutive years. So they got that going for them. Which is nice.

I think we need to come up with a Simpsons quote for each E8 team's season

On the IC-SJF game:

"I know it's funny, but I'm not laughing."

Its been a long time since i've been on here but my dad has kept me up to par.  Sounds as though its another crazy year in the E8.  My dad will be traveling to Wick this weekend to watch the game.

side note:  it was back in '04 when I was last at the cage.  the most memorable thing about that game was that the girl singing the national anthem forgot the words...3 times.  The first two she tried starting again.  The last time she just ran off the field.

Welcome aboard (again) Sarge. How are things in Carolina? These stories get better and better as the years go by! Heck, Sarge, in another 10 years, she will have forgotten the words no less than 10 times....

Pep vividly recalls that event. She screwed up and got a case of the giddy girl giggles and after turning off her mic, the recorded National Anthem was played. Later in the game, with AU dominating, the li'l four-piece pep band struck up the Saxon fight song once again. A discouraged Hartwick fan sarcastically commented, "Get a load of that band!" to which your brother, seated in front of the Hawk fan, replied, "Did you happen to catch the National Anthem?"

Pep is hoping to get to Wright Stadium plenty early for the 2 p.m. kickoff to secure adequate seating for the band. Pep is thinking there might be a decent crowd in the cage...

"Oh, say can you see?"

On Saxon Warriors!

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Not going to lie, it looks as though that AU and SJF are set up to make runs next year.  They have very young QB's that are playing pretty well right now in the Freshman Seckey (sp?) and Sophmore Bailey.  With Wick losing Boltus and IC losing Juvan, I see AU and SJF taking controll of the E8 for the next few years.  I didnt see much out of the Senior, Grastorf but he may catch lightning in a bottle his senior year and run with it, much like Fitzpatrick did for SJF in 04.  Hartwick's offense needs a legit QB to make it run.  They had Pincelli awhile back but after he graduated they fell into a horrible slump of QB suckitude untill Boltus came and started winging it around. So they'll probably suck again for a couple years after Boltus leaves.

SJF may sneak into the playoffs this year (LETS GO AU!!!!) but im expecting next season they'll make a better effort and get back to looking like a dominant team.

Marge:  Homer, don't you think [St.] John [Fisher College] is a little...happy?

Homer:  Happy as a clam.

Marge: No.  Homer.  I think [St.] John [Fisher College] prefers the company of men.

Homer: Who doesn't?

Marge:  Homer.  Listen very carefully.  [St.] John [Fisher College] is a homo....

Homer:....yes....

Marge: ...sexual.

Homer: AH!

Glad Upstate has a sense of humor.

For those that don't know the episode, I will do the PC thing and note that there is nothing homophobic about that quote.  In fact, the entire episode is satirizing homophobia.

musta missed that one----apologies jose

As a followup:

Marge:  Homer, what's the problem?

Homer:  It's just...different.  If there was a law, it would be against it.  I mean, they took all our best names.  Like Bruce and Biff.  Those were the toughest names we had Marge.
