the difference between wick and fisher now is that fisher has proven itself in the ncaas and in recent schedule changes--ie removing the cupcakes.
when was the last time Hartwick was ranked in the top 25?

Pat Coleman

Never in ours. Highest rank is "34th" -- where they are right now.

ok that was entirely too much babble about hartwick.  the only solace that i have is that this discussion will be moot next year because the wick will be back to normal-bad

Bad huh?  Last ten meetings between Hartwick and St John Fisher... Hartwick leads the series 6-4.... so whats that make you?

Results of Fisher vs. Hartwick this decade.

2000---- St. John Fisher 21  Hartwick 27  (Hartwick +6)
2001---- St. John Fisher 7  Hartwick 24  (Hartwick +17)
2002---- St. John Fisher 27  Hartwick 31 (Hartwick +4)
2003---- St. John Fisher 44 Hartwick 18 (Fisher +26)
2004---- St. John Fisher 55 Hartwick 10 (Fisher +45)
2005---- St. John Fisher 70 Hartwick 41 (Fisher +29)
2006---- St. John Fisher 57 Hartwick 16 (Fisher +41)
2007---- St. John Fisher 28 Hartwick 31 (Hartwick +3)
2008---- St. John Fisher 28 Hartwick 31 (Hartwick +3)

So this decade Hartwick has only beaten Fisher by more than a touchdown one time.  Fisher on the other hand has destroyed Hartwick leaving no doubt.  I can tell you last year Fisher should have won the game if their kicker could kick a field goal or the 4th and goal play wasn't botched at the end, and we all know about how this years game went with the missed field goals and fumbles.  Hartwick hasn't proven they are better than Fisher these past two years, they have proven they are luckier I suppose.  Also you guys keep mentioning how Fisher has 3 losses this year, well my God I would love to see your team play against Salisbury and Mount Union....combine that with the Ithaca loss, well I would think that would put you at 3 losses yourself, and you would have been a Fisher botched performance away from having 4.

Oh and if you want to keep going back into the 90's when a new Fisher program took on Hartwick I'm sure SJFF82 would love to tell you how Fisher swept Hartwick all 4 years he was there.
-In the years you just mentioned Hartwick is 5 and 4... last i remember thats a winning record... you're really stretchin to push the you beat us by more than we beat you... who cares!  a win is a win
-Fisher would have won if this... fisher would have won if that... last I heard heard fumbles, missed kicks, botched plays are pretty common things in football games... agreed?  You know whats not common?  Hail Mary's ... and Fisher had a hail Mary converted this year at the end of the first half... which according to your terms is lucky and shouldnt count... so really hartwick should have won by ten
-fisher is playing a heck of a schedule nobody is arguing that... and they are a good team but they do have three losses?  so what is wrong with stating that?
-if i wanna keep going back to the 90's?  where else am i supposed to go to find the last ten games?  The 80's?  And by the way you act like this young fresh team from fisher was playing a storied franchise... Hartwick football started in 1991!  so i am gald he can tell me he swept hartwick all 4 years he was there because guess what i can say the same to him!

Meh, the shoes switch feet from time to time. It's really immaterial if one team is "better" than the other because right now, Hartwick's an Ithaca collapse in Alfred away from being E8 champs the second year in a row. Would I take Hartwick if the two teams played again tomorrow? Probably not.

Frankly, I'm not sure that either SJF fans or Wick fans can really trumpet their teams as models of consistency. Fisher has been very good the last 5-6 years, but both teams have had pretty awful seasons recently.

Fisher 99-2002: 11-28
Hartwick: 03-06: 11-27

So you've both had some lean years. Right now, Fisher's probably the better overall program, but Hartwick's won the last two. Hartwick's teams have no reason to concern themselves with SJF other than for three hours on Saturday

At the AU-'wick game, after Secky had hit Pope for the Saxons' first score in the first quarter, AU was facing a 3rd-and-8 or so at the 'wick 17 yard line. So Pep said to his fellow band members, "We need a Hail Mary to the Pope (again)." And a brief moment later, we were humming the Saxon fight song on the kazoo as Secky threw another "Hail Mary" to the Pope!

Heck, Pep ain't even Catholic!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Like I said you go ahead and negate the hail mary pass but give us the 2 easy field goals we missed and the two times we fumbled within 10 yards of the endzone and so that is 20 points right there....which would take Hartwick winning by 10 and turning it into Fisher winning by 10.

Also not a stretch by talking about the times you beat us it was by 3 points 3 points 4 points 6 points which Im pretty sure most people would agree could go either way, but when you are losing to us by 26 45 41, etc. those games aren't in doubt.

And the problem I have with you repeatedly mentioning they have 3 losses is acting like Hartwick wouldn't have the same amount of L's if they played this schedule.

I didn't know about Hartwick starting in 91 however, I just assumed they have been around a while like some of the other E8 teams, so that was my bad.

No dugout for me as I don't really care for baseball too much, more of a basketball and hockey guy myself.

you missed the point ... i was being sarcastic... these are all things that happen in a game so it doesnt matter... the games were played and Hartwick won end of story... none if this if this if that... this isnt a preview... the game has already happened

Again the games we won by a low amount are not in doubt either???  they are over and we won.

Thats the first time i mentioned three losses and i readily admit they have a ridiculous schedule but it is what it is... i dont think they can get in with three losses on their record without winning the E8 bid...

If SJF doesn't get the E8 bid, they need other pool C teams to have 2 losses and I think they can make it.
