Ithaca gave Mount Union a pretty good test last year in the playoffs, but that is a dangerous thing to hope for.  Mount Union didn't make it into the playoffs this year by being a bad team or having a bad defense.  It's not Mount Union's defense that makes their fans nervous, it's more their offensive line.  But, the way Kmic's been running, he's been able to hide that imperfection faily well.

Alfred is going to be scary good for the next three years...

Alfred is the Arizona Cardinals of the E8. Every year "might" be the year...it's doubtful.

Congrats to the Bombers on a nice monkeystomp of Cortland.

That's hard on Alfred...

8-3
9-2
8-3
8-3
7-3

That's a solid team. They've beaten SJF twice recently and Ithaca as well

Bombers, thank you for that dose of reality.
Tags, I don't know anything or care about the Arizona Cardinals.  You cannot deny that Alfred has been hovering on the brink of success as mentioned by bombers.  Alfred is a hard place to recruit athetes as you should recognize.  Hendrix was pre season All American but has had an injury all season.  Your sour grapes from today should not overshadow the facts.  Emotion precedes maturity.  Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Actually saxon, there is not a lot of difference between where Alfred is located and where Mt. Union is located.  Small towns, good small schools, a few hours from any large city.  They have a good framework for a national d3 powerhouse!

I think Ohio and NY have slightly different talent pools to pick from. I'd imagine a few of guys at MUC got at least a glance from D-1 schools in the area

I mean more that MUC and Alfred are close in the sense that they can both recruit from Ohio, Western PA and western NY, more than say a Union or Ithaca could for local talent.

Jonny,  You have a rather good point.  However, Alfred's curriculum is a bit different from similar schools.  I have been encouraged lately about the recruits from Erie Cathedral Prep - often cited in national high school polls.  Even if AU doesn't get the best of that lot, we are getting better and better recriuts.

How is it different?  It has the basic liberal arts stuff right? (politics, history, soc, English, math)?

You can call it sour grapes all you want but its the truth, you've done nothing but hover close to the NCAA's the past few seasons...

I give you guys credit for todays win and the win in 2005, you were the better teams but it still didnt get you guys anywhere...

Bombers looked VERY good today... the back up QB was rattled just a few times but other than that he played really well... it was a good game until Cortland threw back to back pics in thier endzone...

I say Wick gets the Pool C

As I said it is a "Bit" different.  The ceramic college is relatively unknown to the vast majority of the population and any athlete would have to be an exemplary student to be accepted.  There is no communications or phys ed programs and many big alumni contributions have been earmarked for arts and drama.  There is even an Equestrian team(not that there is anything wrong with that) So all I'm saying is that AU is a bit different - not going whole hog here.

Hovering close to the playoffs is better than the Arizona Cardinals ever did. They're a pretty pathetic organization as a whole. Alfred's a very good team in a very tough conference.

Hey Aristotle, I have no dog in this fight. After Robby graduated I really don't care what Fisher does.

Now back to the point... having 3 losses on your record year after year isn't getting you anywhere. Enjoy "hovering on the brink of success."

Best of luck in your future endeavors as well.
