Well, let's take a shot at this: Who do we think will make the list from our team? I'll try first team skill position guys, but maybe others are more talented

IC

Bergerstock, Weverbergh, Cheir, Scalice maybe? I'd imagine some OL guys are bound to make it as well.

For AU I'd say that Manzer at WR and Nick Clark at LB should be first team.  Clark is local and went DI for wrestling last year, but is now in his first year at Alfred.  Topping the E8 in sacks and tackles for loss in his "freshman" year gives AU a solid leader on both sides of the ball for the next 3 years.

Well, I was wrong about Clark, but since he was the only "freshman" on the first and second team I can understand that the E8 would honor 3 seniors at linebacker.  I was on the fence as to whether or not I thought Nitsche would make the first team since there were a lot of deserving DBs.  I was glad to see two Saxons on the first team and that Secky got ROY, but I'm really encouraged by all the second team players (plus Manzer from the first team) who will be returning next season.

I think next year will be the year Alfred breaks on through.  It will probably be another crazy 3 way tie for the automatic bid but Alfred is going to the dance.  They have a really good, really young team.

Alfred will be good, but they close at Ithaca and at Fisher. That's a tough way to close the season.

Yeah, I'm not sure who Alfred will schedule to replace Norwich, but I like their chances of being 8-0 entering those last two games.  At that point they'd need to win one of two and likely end up in a crazy tie for the E8 crown.  It won't be like this year where my expectations were for 6-4, so I was extremely pleased with a 7-3 season.  I think Springfield will make a mess of the E8 standings next year.  They are young and seem to be rolling with the triple-option near the end of this year.  I'm glad Alfred has them at home in 2009 and hopefully Hendrix will be all healed up for his senior year.

To everyone that is coming down on SJFC and their coaches, let's just remember ONE thing, they are leaving for Maine tomorrow morning to play for an ECAC Northeast Championship.    How many D3 teams will be playing on Saturday??  Would one of the teams that are not playing give anything to be playing in a playoff game whether NCAA or Regional this Saturday?? Without question!!  Fisher Fans, root your team on for crying out loud.   They are traveling more than 10 hours (which was a lack of consideration by the ECAC committee to send Fisher that far and I understand they are taking tremendous heat for it...and not by SJFC mind you)  to represent their school and their fans.  Let's show them some respect and give them credit for getting to another playoff game which is not easy at all.    Unfortunately we will not be traveling out there to broadcast the game due to Husson telling us that there is no room for another radio station in (what they call a) press box.    However, the broadcast by the Bangor radio station (which is owned by Steven King; food for thought) might be piped through WHTK so you'll be able to hear it on the web or radio last I checked.

In any event.   I stopped by practice the other day and there is a little chip on their shoulder....which was good to see.    Don't be shocked if they blow this team out of the water and get the hell out of dodge.

Good Luck Cardinals!

And congratulations to ALL of the players that made All-Conference(E8) especially:

I remember my senior year, 03, after another last minute loss to a NCAA team (RPI) the team was on edge.  The whole week of practice was like walking on egg shells, needless to say a huge rumble broke out during practice between the offense and defense.  I think it was good for us, we went on the next two weeks and beat down Utica 68-0 and then slapped Cortland around in the ECAC game 47-37 (it wasnt that close it was 30-9 at the half and 40-16 at the end of 3). There should be a chip on their shoulder, as a team that had such high expectations they didnt get it done this year...

I did hear on the Radio WHTK had the game on their saterday line up, its a shame you guys wont be going out there though...

I think there might be a link, but I am not quite sure at this point.   Kickoff is at 12:00.   I thought maybe WHTK would have sprung for the Madden Crusier and provided a Turduken for the trip..... Well, I can't wait until MUC is in Pittsford next September.   Start counting down the days...

Here's some good news;  Jimmy Smith will not be playing on Saturday because of his bum wheel, but is dressing and they are going to get him in the game to run a quick hitch route and get him one last catch for his career.   I think that is pure class!!  I talked with him about that this week and he was pretty enthusiastic about it.   Still too bad a kid like that had to watch is final two/three games from the sideline.   Forget about his play on the field, he is truly a good kid.

I like Jimmy and Timmy, good kids and great football players.  I honestly think that we tried to force the ball to them too much instead of just letting opportunities develop during the game.

I tend to agree, but we have to remember a Sophomore QB who is learning the 'ropes' has security blankets and I think we'll see more field usage next year....

See thats what kills me, why wouldnt you dumb it down for him?  Put him under center more, run more play action and bootlegs with him instead of spreading everyone out and having him try to read the coverages every single play.

Kramer was a master at the play actions and bootlegs.  I'd be willing to bet that 80% of his TDs were a result of those plays.  Were we supposed to believe that Bailey was that much better than him and we could spread out in 4 wide the majority of the time and still be effective?
