D3 story over at deadspin.com

interesting view of a certain E8 school down in the comments section

QuoteI went to a DIII school. I can honestly say that many of the football players had absolutely zero business being enrolled. A handful were too dumb to have actually gotten in on their academic merits. The vast majority however had absolutely zero interest in academics. This was a private college too, so tuition was hardly cheap. These idiots viewed it as an oportunity to play 4 more years of football and squandered their chance to get a meaningful degree.
A couple of years after I graduated, a hazing story broke in the news and the administration cancelled one of their games. Least. Suprising. Story. Ever.

In conclusion, at a 3rd tier state supported college like UW-Whitewater, I suspect the average football player seldom remembers to wipe his ass.

the commenter later said he went to Alfred.

This just in:
Hobart and Alfred are "in discussions" re: a game on Oct. 17 according to TGP's sources in Geneva.

Stay tuned.

this game would look like an andy warhol setting...2 of the more colorful teams with bright orange and purple running around the field.

True. He also said:

@JohnnyDakotaStateU: That's right, I forgot Alfred played them a few years ago.
I wasn't trying to generalize all DIII players. I was referring those of whom I have first hand knowledge. Heck, the football team might not even be that way anymore.
When I read the story about the players being jerks at UW-W, I thought to myself, "Oh hell, I've seen this crap before."

When that football team hazing incident occurred, it was upon arrival of Coach Dave Murray. Initially, the president, Edward G. Coll Jr., wanted to cancel the entire season, but the trustees believed that to be too harsh and would hurt the University, thus, only the opening game with Susquehanna was cancelled.

Pep can attest to the academic integrity of AU's football players.

It's been a common occurrence through the years...the two schools have met on the gridiron a few times before and have indeed provided some colorful storybook entertainment.

Pep remembers as a teen watching the two teams square off one year with nearly identical colored uniforms. That changed when George Davis' boys donned nothing but orange. There was no mistak'n the teams then as AU has maintained over the years predominately purple and white with a touch of gold.

Should AU and Hobart agree, a Saxon trip to the Boz would give both schools five home games and five away games. Plus, a trip to Geneva is a cheap fun road trip for the AU Pep Band.

Old news in the LL, but will share it in here.

Hope everyone is well.

i know this isnt the politico thread...but...its 'nice' to see that our governor is ecstatic about pissing away $410k on the Jets and CU.  BTW, does this mean that CU now has the same unfair advantage on the field that SJF has had since the Bills arrived in Pittsford??? ;)

I just checked my discretionary fund....hey governor....mine's a little short this month...do you think I could get some of my money back?  I didnt really want my money spent on multi-million dollar athletes so that they can be pampered for 6 weeks while their owner says...."geez thanks Gov., now I dont have to spend my own millions on my own 'capitalistic' enterprise...I can buy a yacht instead and laugh at all the hard-working NY taxpayers as I light up a stogey and cruise on by".   Ahhhhh.....America, America....God shed his grace on thee....wealthee....onleee....until the next REAL tea parteeeeeeeee!!!

I think its 'CS' for Cortland State.

How about the owner of the Bills moving a game to another country (and economy) in order to make money for his private organization?  If he gives some of that money back to SJF and other upstate areas (which he does) does it even out?

I think the Bill moving a game to Toronto is perhaps the worst thing I have ever heard in professional sports. Okay, that is a bit much, but it is pretty bad.

Lets take away the fact that they did it last year against Miami, who is about 1 and 100 in Buffalo late in the season. So they let them play in a controlled, indoor, environment. And the Bills lose. Imagine that.

But how about a City and a group of fans, that are fighting to keep a team they love in the city. And the team is going to go test a market to see if they can make more money there than where they are. If it goes well, then they are probably more likely to move the team to Canada. Great fan loyalty, test a market even tho you say you don't want to move the team, take a home game (maybe one of a prescious few left) away from the fans that have done nothing but suport you for years, and make those fans watch as you prepare your move out of the city. Why don't you just kick my dog while you are at it.

Now, Ralph Wilson from everything I have heard is a great man. He has given a ton of money to the development of Fisher and all that (not to mention that a lot of the Bills front office is Fisher grads), but it just seems a little shady and unethical to me.

I am sure there are people on both sides of the issue, but what happens to Buffalo if they lose the Bills? That is a lot of jobs and "outside" money coming into the area 8 times a year. All those traveling fans have to stay in the hotels, eat in the restaurants, etc. I think Mr. Wilson has to give a lot of buildings and such to even that out.

Its been a long time since I have posted on the boards, however, I have been trying to keep up with them...

THE BILLS WILL STAY IN BUFFALO

I am a Bills fan and also am from Buffalo.  I completely agree that they should not have moved the Miami game, A CONFERENCE GAME against a warm weather team, to Toronto; poor decision.  However, Ralph Wilson in simply looking into the teams best interest, its not unethical nor does it lack loyalty. This is how it goes...

The Bills will stay in Buffalo under a collaborative effort by some of the deepest pockets in the area or local fan base, AKA Toronto.  As long as the Bills please the fans in both countries, the Bills will stay in Buffalo because the money generated in Toronto for simply that one game will help cover the huge deficit faced by the organization.  The Bills were bought for 250,000 dollars so the profit margin is absolutely ridiculous.  However, the profit margin for the Bills post Ralph Wilson era will not be as lucrative.  Therefore, to please investors from all areas, foreign or abroad, the Bills need to pull out all the stops.  It seems shady from the outside to move a game to Toronto (especially a primetime Thursday night game, but as long as those games are on the NFL network, not everyone will be watching them anyways) but it really is in the best interest of the organization if the Bills are going to stay in Buffalo...

Does anyone know when Fisher is going to release it's football schedule for next year? I am seeing a lot of teams with their full schedules out, but not Fisher. Are they still trying to fill some spots? Or are they just finalizing times and such?
