Tough schedule for Fisher. I really don't like the idea of playing all of the Empire 8 games in a row. They will really have to keep their edge for several straight weeks. Also playing Salisbury and MUC early in the season will be tough as well.

I am suprised about the 9 game schedule. I don't know if the decision was based on economics or if the athletic department had any trouble finding another team to play. Hopefully Fisher will pull off a good late run this season.

Now that Fisher has its schedule out, all I have to worry about now is finding someone to take my US Open tickets off my hands.
GO FISHER!!!

FA, are you going to be heading out to Roch for the Mt. Union game on 9/5???

I am thinking I'll be there for that.

The 10th game only matters if you know who the opponent would have been and of course who would have won the game.  You never know who would have won, and you only sometimes know who you would have played.  So you can never really say for sure if the 10th game actually helps you or not.

The only real downside I see to playing 9 games is that as a fan, you have less games to watch and enjoy.  And of course as a player, you have less games to play in and enjoy.

tags,
im aiming at the 5th but the late start puts me in a pickle.
im hopin to be there- havent heard from the doctors in quite some time-perhaps ill drop them a line.

AU is also with only nine games on its schedule but is still "talking" with a prospect, perhaps beginning talks with a second, to fill one of the two open dates.

It may just be a cost-saving measure for the program to settle on nine games. But as JU said, it's one less game for fans to enjoy.

Cupcakes be damned....Outside of Buff State and Utica none of those matchups you can go into feeling pretty good about.  It is an interesting schedule, I like the increase in night games as it makes them easier to attend for me at least.  I also like that there is a bye week before facing Ithaca.  Fisher will have just come off a game against a usually very good albeit unconventional Salisbury team and this will give them extra time to adjust and get focused for a run through the E8 conference beginning at Butterfield.  If they were to have a terrible beginning to the season but manage to come out of Ithaca with a W they'd have to feel pretty good about their chances of running through the conference and getting the automatic bid.  There is also the other bye week before the Springfield game, so maybe if they have any late season injuries that could give everybody some time to heal.

Its also really nice to havea bye week before you play Springfield. It gives Fisher a week to prepare for a quirky offense.

I think I am going to try and make a very large number of games this year. I can't wait.
GO FISHER!!!

After facing MUC a couple years earlier than expected due to the playoff runs, I wonder what SJF thinks about scheduling them to open the season?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Honestly, I think they bit off more than they could chew especially since they also have Salisbury on the same schedule. Look at other regional powers like Ithaca, RPI and Hobart.  Both LL teams are considered regional powers but go about it different ways.  RPI fills the schedule with cream puffs (Endicott and Utica) and Hobart schedules middle of the road teams from other conferences (Dickinson and Carnegie Mellon).  Ithaca goes out and schedules two state schools that have been extremely tough in Port and Cortland as well as scheduling two MAC schools in Lyco and Kings.

Sure SJF has teams like UR and Buff State but that's no reason to go ahead and put Salisbury AND Mount Union on the schedule.  They don't have to load up on cakes and schedule teams like Mt Ida and Husson but they should find a nice balance on the schedule of tough teams and winnable games.

Pep is thinking it won't be long before Fisher fans will not be feeling so good about going into Buff State and Utica games. Did anyone notice WHO is head coach at Buff State now? And, do Fisher fans remember WHO is head coach at Utica? Just a matter of time before both programs become frightfully competitive.

At least we got Coach Parks and his extremely innovative and effective offensive strategy and play calling to fall back on...

Buffalo State is probably the school to look at when it comes to scheduling...they were an East power, but they scheduled a lot of non D-III competition (Robert Morris, Mansfield) to go along with a rough Independent schedule (Ithaca--even though Boyes really had IC's number for a lot of years-- Rowan--which they now play every year-- Washington and Jefferson) and the bottom fell out of the program. Granted, there were other factors, mainly, Boyes leaving as HC, but playing a very tough schedule didn't help. The NJAC isn't a pushover conference, but I'd have to imagine that getting Boyes back and removing some of the difficulty from a schedule will allow for improvement...
