Guys really I don't think seating will be a problem, it's the first game of the year and only the Freshman will be on campus.  Returning students aren't allowed back until the Monday after I believe, so it could be pretty empty.  I am hoping for a good crowd though...

As far as places to eat refer back a couple post pages where somebody posted a link from an NFL blogger talking about his favorite training camp destinations.  He lists the Bills camp because of some restaurant in Pittsford.  I've never been to it so I can't personally recommend it, but he seems to be in love with the joint.  Heard they don't take credit cards though.  There are hotels located a few miles from Fisher, it won't be a big deal finding lodging.

Ok...next round of visitor questions....

A "must not miss" local food attraction type place?

Thanks for the info!!!

Sidekick,

Even though I'm a Mount Union fan, I'll chime in on this one.  My vote for food is for Nick Tahau's and order the Garbage Plate.  It is a meal you won't find anywhere else outside of Rochester.  I grew up in one of the other suburbs of Rochester, so I'm not as familiar with the restaurant choices in/close to Pittsford, but Nick's is worth the short drive into the city.

Blutarsky

dude that was helping me at the bank mentioned a place called "The Depot" in Pittsford as a good place after the MUC/Fisher game.....any scouting reports?

Some of my favorites include Dinosaur BBQ, Mario's, Bazils on the east side and Rorhbach's on the west side...

Dinosaur has the best Texas BBQ around by far.  Mario's and Bazils are pretty good Italian spots and Rorhbach's is a micro-brew that has great beer and great food!

I didn't realize that Rohrbach's was still around.  I thought they closed when the restaurant back off Goodman closed down.  I guess they just moved.

Unless I'm thinking of a different place?

Rohrbach's is in Chili now...

I'd second Rohrbach's as a possible place to eat as well if you want a local brew to wash down a good meal.  They had good German food a bunch of years ago, a great fish fry on Friday nights, and a tasty "7-Lily" soup that was a house-made french onion that I still remember.

The Distillery on Winton rd has great food, cold beer and lots of tv's. It is easy to get to from Fisher, leave Fisher west on 490 to 590 south only 15 minutes max.

Seconded, that's a great place to eat and grab some beers. MUC folks should hit that up.

Also would recommend the Dinosaur BBQ along with Upstate... get the Big Azz Pork plate, can't go wrong.

I'm not a Fisher guy, but definitely Dinosaur BBQ.  It's pretty much unanimous.  I also agree that you might want to grab a garbage plate while you are in town too  -- SO yeah, just eat the whole time you're there  :D

It must be something about the upstate Dinosaur BBQs, KS nephew, co-workers have all raved about it.  KS has had it from the Dinosaur in NYC and it didn't impress KS.  Two people KS works with went to Syracuse and love the one in NYC, KS doesn't get it.  But then KS has had BBQ in TN, NC and Texas and it fricken ruled.

I'm not so sure it's that the upstate Dinosaur's are better...it could be that folks from NY haven't had quite the same exposure to top notch BBQ.  I've done the BBQ Trail in TX, eaten at 4 joints in one day in Kansas City, and wandered around NC a good bit in search of decent 'que.  I'm still waiting for a good conference in Memphis to justify the trip there.  So far, nothing beats a good TX smoked brisket.

Dinosaur BBQ is good, but it doesn't stand up to the real homes of the different kinds of barbeque.  If you've never had the filet mignon, you'll enjoy the sirloin.

The good thing about BBQ and tailgating is that you can bring it to the parking lot and pick away at it for a while over a few beers.

when in rochester----do the garbage plate....it wont dissappoint.

I don't know man, I've been here in Houston for about a year, and I would still put Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester up there at the top -- of course, all I ever get is the big azz pork plate, so I don't have that broad of a sample  8)

So far Memphis has been the best, followed by a little place outside of Temple TX that I went to back in 83.  Want to try BBQ and Steakhouses in KC someday.
