Brillo Is Old

Pep

The way I see is as follows:

1) Ithaca

2) Alfred

3) Fisher

But, anything can and usually does happen, especially at the D3 level.

Fisher has their newcomers listed on the website finally.  Does anybody recognize any of the names?  Besides Zemaitis I noticed there is a Senior TE transfer from Albany...Strange to wait until your Senior year to do so, but more power to him.  I didn't have too much time to look into it, but I did notice there are no giant 300+ pound O-Lineman coming in like in years past...

Any other information out there about Fisher? I never know any of the new guys coming in since I do not follow high school football at all. Any transfers (other than above), or any big time freshman in this class?

JU, that was where I was going.  The sheer number is meaningless if it's just a beds for heads strategy to get tuition payers through the door.  Even if they're all recruited, there's not a enough PT for everyone, so it's got to be an enrollment thing.  Question is, can this backfire longer term if it becomes a reputational issue (e.g. they take everyone in), particularly in the case where you're not Mt. Union.

Is JV a fully formed team for all these schools now?  When I played it was the guys who didn't travel plus a couple of others that were basically thrown together for Sunday games against some 2-yr schools (e.g. Alfred St.) and Hamilton.  No advanced schedule or anything.

I think it's 152 players total. That really seems high, but I guess it would be 60 on varsity and the rest on JV? Something like that. I think the release is wrong, 152 freshmen would be redonklous.

I know some players whose long range goal is to be a HS football coach and figured sitting the bench at Mount learning from LK is better than playing for a lesser coach somewhere else.

Thats a great point.  You forget how much football you learn by just sitting in on meetings, watching film with coaches, etc.  Its the main foundation for probably most coaches football knowledge.

Ditto. I "played" for two years at UC, and I learned a ton of things about football and the nuances, even though I didn't get on the field.

That sounds more realistic. Pep was told there were 130+ in the Saxon camp here in Mayberry. Funny thing, Pep almost posted "Hooterville" instead of Mayberry. Anyone remember Hooterville Junction?

Just finished looking at the newcomers list on the fisher website-
looks like Vos wanted some more section II talent.
Looks like a decent crop-only time will tell.

The jury is still out....just waiting to hear the verdict. At this point, Pep is cautiously optimistic that the Saxons will play all their home games at Merrill as planned. A second engineering firm is collaborating and suggests a repair could render the bleachers safe, but whether administration goes that route will depend on cost efficiency.

Merrill Field is scheduled for new carpet, Pep believes next year. AU likely would want to get a donor to cover the cost of both carpet and new grandstand/press box/pep band suite.  ;)

Ha ha! Started with Omniturf then when that wore out, they brought in AstroTurf5, which had since been replaced with AstroTurf12. Heck, we had the same (ugly orange) carpet in Herrick Library for must have been 40 years!

With which of the three different rugs are you familiar?

You can send your 25 cents to Box 811, Alfred, NY 14802. Pep will see that it goes toward a few blades of artificial grass.

Don't forget Uncle Joe, he's moving kinda slow at the Junction, Petticoat Junction...

Hooterville was down the road a piece.  Hooterville is where the Douglas' lived.  I think it was near Bugtussle.
