Finally sitting down for my thoughts on Saterday's game.  The offense looks good again, but it's hard for me to the images of the 2007 team out of my head so I keep expecting the scoring to be even easier.  And Rockwood was getting some good distance on his kickoffs with one even making it all the way for a touchback (though the next one went predictably out of bounds) and continues to be accurate on extra points.  I still contend that the Alfred season will come down to how well the young secondary continues to develop.  Manzer even began the game playing both ways.  And while the Larries and the Devils were both able to effectively move the ball through the air a few nice plays highlighted the potential that exists within the seemingly endless stream of sophomore and freshman in the secondary, especially the one handed interception made by Reggie Pressley in the fourth quarter.

As for the band, we are proud to include in our ranks the 2009 Homecoming King on drums!  Coupled with great weather, an Alfred win, a Homecoming crowd and a 20 piece band it was an exceptionally great day at Merrill!

Looks like all but the Alfred contingent has "a case of the Mondays."

Pep will concur with AUKaz00 on his take of Saterday's game. It's always good for the band to maintain a semblance of harmony, no matter who carries the lead.

Pep was pleased with the turnout and performance of the band and kudos to our Drumming King! One could say he did a "Wipeout" of the competition, although the entire Homecomnig Court is to be congratulated for their contributions to campus life here at Alfred.

Pep, while taking responsibility for Grandson Pep following the game, was delighted to have opportunity to chat (Thanks for sleeping thru it, Noah!) with none other than K-Mack! He aptly described the Alfred campus and football stadium in today's podcast with Pat Coleman. Thanks for making the effort to find Alfred, Keith! Glad you didn't encounter any of our Allegany County attack deer. Pep's daughter struck no less than four deer while still living in Alfred. Then she moved to Binghamton and one of the local bucks followed her there and attacked her vehicle right in the big city!

But now it's a true test for our Saxons. And, while the young secondary won't be bombarded with passes, Springfield's Josh Carter will no doubt capitalize if given the opportunity. Pep is hoping AU can shut down that vaunted running game.

Pierre Garcon a long TD catch from Manning in the 4th... us IC fans feel honored to have been run all over by garcon in '07.... and we know SJF knows the feeling.... love to see the DIII guys shining so far this year.

maxpower

holy s who knew garcon transferred to mount from norwich... E8 pride! even if they weren't in it then.....

maxpower

Yeah Max Pierre never really destroyed Fisher when he played for Mount Union...It was when he played for Norwich when he did his damage against us...He was the reason we lost that game, even though he didn't reach the endzone on that hail mary at the end, but whateverrrr lol.

Pep called Pep Jr. (huge Dolphins fan both literally and figuratively) last night after Garcon's fourth quarter TD to point out that the Saxons beat Garcon TWICE in 2004 when Pierre was a Cadet at Norwich. Really thought the Dolphins had plenty of time to put together a game-winning TD drive...perhaps they should devote Thursday's practice to the two-minute drill like they do at Fisher.

As a Dolphin fan who still has his Bob Griese Jersey, KS thinks that was the worst 3 minutes he has seen in the NFL.  The phins run a qb sneak to get a first down with less than a minute and half the offense just stands around until Pennington gets up and signals to line up and ground the ball?  I hope the Tuna makes an appearance at practice and reminds the team about a few facts.

Pep,

I consider this:

to be a failure in parenting.

KS,

I consider this:

to be a failure of character.

My wife is a recovering Dolphins fan so I understand.  But you guys gotta pull it together, join a 12-step program, get into rehab, something.  Rooting for teams from Miami only results in incarceration.

Well Q, can you work on a group discount because the Saxons aren't the only football team that Pep and Kaz root for together!
