Hey, who knows, maybe the Bombers will rally from their annual drubbing from Fisher. It's worked before. Maybe next year we close with it so we rebound and go on a playoff run...

I'd hate to be Frostburg next week, that's for sure. (Ok, I'd hate to be Frostburg period, but still..)

Yeah that might end up as one of those 75-3 games

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Wow...I am speechless. SJF is not that good and IC well Isnt that good either...pitiful football

probably a little pissed right now IC84....but did you see the game?  SJF is very good..unless IC just plain stinks....like worse than Buff St and UR.   My 'objective' assessment is that IC just doesnt have enough speed or athleticism to hang in that game.  Honestly it was like watching SJF trying to hang with Mount Union the past few years.  Zemaitis was literally a man amongst boys....and he's only a boy (Freshman).....5 second half TDs

And this wasnt a close first half at 6-0.  Fisher was inside the 10 3 times and I dont think IC crossed the 50.

I am very happy for the Fisher team of course, for them to bounce back once again and beat a ranked team when everyone was down on them (including myself).

It feels pretty damn good to be 2-2 and still be able to beat a ranked team on the road by 23 pts.

Gosh....could we only beat Hartwick this year???

Coming into today's game, Pep was concerned about TWO things.
First, how the heck can Pep make music without any musicians? and,
Second, how would AU's young secondary handle the Hawks' airing it out?

Both concerns were adequately addressed, at least from Pep's perspective.

1) Kaz00 and Pep made music albeit with a couple kazoos, a bass drum and cymbal. In fact, the dynamic duo introduced a new song/cheer to the band's repertoire that proved to be a real hit...Pennsylvania 6-5000. Today's performance actually served as a "Tenth Anniversary Retro Day" as the band went back to its roots...started as a kazoo band in 1999.

2) The AU secondary's play could best be summed up by Radley's first throw over the middle, about 20 yards downfield, when the Hawk receiver made the grab but was immediately separated from the ball by a jarring hit....don't know whether it was O'Brien or Currier. But it was perfectly timed and was a fitting start.

The AU offense was flawless in moving the ball and scoring in the first half, then during the second half displayed sloppy play with three turnovers in the third quarter alone. This could have been disastrous had it not been for a stellar defensive effort. The Saxon D rose to each adverse situation and put a stop to any Hawk scoring threats.

Pep was pleased with the crowd but missed the students. Pep only wishes AU could make a hard fast rule that it will NOT schedule any of its football games during Mid-Semester Break in the future....but realizes that just isn't likely.

Best of luck to the Hartwick Hawks the rest of the way!

P.S. Kudos to Vinson Hendrix....202 yards rushing today! If it's at all possible, Hendrix just keeps getting better each week. (#6 has gained more yards than the previous game in each of AU's first five games) Pep heard that the O-line was shooting for Hendrix to hit the 200 yard mark and today that was accomplished. Kudos to the O-Line!!

Pep,

I see you lurking out there.  Can you give some specifics on today's game?

p.s.  The Hartwick radio wouldn't come through my computer.  Did get the Ithaca video after I thought to try it.

73,
Why didn't you try to listen to the WLEA stream?  I'm not sure why Alfred doesn't post that link on the scoreboard, so maybe I'll post it prior to the last two home games for anyone who's interested.

Fisher absolutely stomped them, and clearly, they were a much, much better team than Ithaca (or probably any of us) anticipated. The game with Alfred will be the best game of the season and should determine conference supremacy.

But if SJF had a decent kicker, it would have been 34-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter, in Ithaca. That says there's more going on than just the talent level. Fisher is clearly the better-coached, better-prepared and more disciplined team and it showed today in spades. They would have won the game anyway, but it wouldn't have been the beat down it was.

Ithaca just doesn't have the talent on the lines or the dynamic skill players to compensate. Fisher is a force right now and the Bombers have taken a step backwards as a program. They're still good, but they it seems like they still believe they can intimidate teams just because they're Ithaca, especially when they play at home.

sjfcards

I was at the Fisher/IC game today and I have a few thoughts.

Fisher looked real good today, but I still have  a problem with them not putting games away when they are cleraly the better team. In the first half Fisher absolutly dominated the game in all areas, and IC was one big play away from taking the lead. Fisher should have been up at least 21 nothing at half time.

Ithaca is not that great of a team. I am sorry to say it, but it is just the truth. I think they were really exposed today as a team with a weak line, on both sides of the ball, and they really did not have an answer for anything Fisher was doing. Any one who watched the game would say that the majority of their offensive stats came well after the game was decided. The Fisher defense basically pitched a shut out until the game was well in hand, and some backups got some time.

I have to say this, and obviously I am a Fisher fan so I am biased, but the Refing today was attrocious. Perhaps the worst I have seen in a College football game. The play where IC punted, an IC player hit the FIsher return man on his way to catch the ball, then called the Fisher player for unsporsmanlike was rediculous. The Fumble call in the third quarter, that they called a completed pass and that the receiver was down, is the type of call that a ref should lose his paycheck for. Honestly, did anyone in the stands on either side think that was not a fumble? I don't think the refs were biased for IC, I just think they were really really really bad.

One last point. That was a HUGE win for Fisher. A big win in conference against one of the top teams in the league, on the road, the game after really letting down against Salisbury. There are some real tough games left on the schedule for Fisher (especially Hartwick and AU, but you can't overlook Utica or SC), but that was a major step in the right direction.
GO FISHER!!!

Ithaca84

To the Fisher Fans..SJF definatly kicked IC's butt...I wont take away from that fact. They looked good today and IC well...I am thinking IC will be lucky to beat Alfred, Springfield and Cortland at this point.

Dood, you don't need to post this on every board in the East region every time.  The NJAC and maybe the ERFP boards but that is all.  We all read all the boards and will check it out if we want to.

Now that I have had a chance to sleep on what I saw from Fisher I am obviously very happy. I think Fisher had a good gameplan and took advantage of IC's weak lines on both sides. The AU game is huge now, but they have some real tough tests ahead with Utica, SC on the road, and Hartwick who is always tough on Fisher. This Fisher team is obviously far from perfect, so I can see some slip ups in there if they continue to be up and down from week to week. If they play with the intensity and gamplan that they had this week, they should be favored in all of the games, with the exception of maybe the AU game. I know AU is good, but I don't think they are going to be 40-17 (and it was not really that close) better than IC. I think Fisher and IC are a little closer than that score as well, so that game becomes really interesting.

Here is the big warning...Utica next week looks like a huge trap game to me. Fisher coming off a big road win against IC, and AU coming in the following week, and a much improved Utica team really scares me. Hopefully the Fisher coaches have the teams radar up for the upset alert.
GO FISHER!!!
