God you guys are talking about the past like the present season is already over...
Was it over when the Germans bombed pearl harbor?

Sorry to interrupt, but as a MUC guy looking forward to another trip to the East Region come playoff time, I'm curious to hear what the thoughts are on SJF so far.  Have they improved significantly or had new playmakers emerge since the opener against Mount?  Did they just piss down their leg against MUC?  Or is the rest of the E-8 very average making Fisher look better now?

THANKS
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

coach- i think that the sjf situation is a little of all.
they were clearly outmatched against MUC, the E8 is looking rather mediocre, some playmakers esp at rb have stepped up.
AU is in the drivers seat and is the team to beat in the conference.
That said, Fishers performance against IC - to me - was a pleasant surprise.
After the shelling that they took from an ok Salisbury team- i had Fisher one foot in the grave.
Glad they prooved me wrong.

IMHO, Fisher has been struggling to find itself this season. Now that the Cardinals' E8 slate is underway, a star has emerged in frosh tailback Christian Zemaitis, who was undercover until the second half at Butterfield. Pep is of the mind that Fisher's 2009 emphasis--like all E8 teams--is getting the AQ from the E8, so two out-of-region losses to MUC and Salisbury State are of little concern. Now that E8 play has begun, Fisher will look to Zemaitis to lead the way in its search for the E8 crown.

This is great news for Fisher fans. From frustrating faltering Fisher football fortunes, Fisher has found the "Zemaitis Touch" i.e. "The Midas Touch" (a muffler outfit named after King Midas, popularly remembered for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold). Zemaitis, from Spencerport, is younger brother of Alan Zemaitis, an All-Big Ten cornerback at Penn State who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and at last report plays in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-cats, ironically where Hartwick QB sensation Jason Boltus is on board.

There are a few obstacles in Fisher's way.....Utica, Alfred, Springfield and, yes, Hartwick. Football at its finest in the E8!

No, obviously the season isn't over, but Ithaca's only shot now is really a Pool A bid. At the very least that requires them to beat Alfred and Springfield and for Alfred to beat Fisher (which puts us in another fun tiebreaker.) I just don't believe a Bomber fan can look at that game and see them beating Alfred. They just don't have the talent this year.

In a sense, I hope Fisher wins the Alfred game, because that would be the E8's best chance at two bids, as Alfred looks like the best pool C candidate for the conference (although I don't know how Fisher's out of region losses look to the committee, I'm just going, right now, on the rankings, which i know are wrong sometimes)

I would like to see that scenario play out as well...

In a perfect world, for me and possibly as far as the east region is concerned anyways, it would go as follows...

Rowan, Albright, SJF run the table...

AU drops one to SJF but wins out...

DVC loses to Albright but wins out...

Kean loses to Rowan but wins out...

Setting up the bracket as follows...

1) Albright (10-0)
2) Rowan (9-1)
3) AU (9-1)
4) SJF (8-2)
5) DVC (8-2)
6) LL rep
7) NEFC rep
8.) Kean (8-2)

Pat Coleman

I don't believe the East Region will get two 8-2 Pool C teams in.

I was talking with Jose about whether IC is a perennial disappointment, and he said it might be time to reconsider our expectations.

Ithaca always ranks high in OWP... this year they're 15th in the nation. I guess we have to accept the disappointments of the scheduling remains tough and we don't have a recruiting class to catch up with it (although tecmo seems to indicate that there were strong things from the freshmen this year in camp....).

It's also been brought up that Ithaca used to dominate recruiting in Rochester and New Jersey.... not so anymore.

In all honesty, I admire the Ithaca program and look at them as the program which exemplifies Northeastern DIII football.  I used to feel that Union was very close and stood shoulder to shoulder with Ithaca in that respect.  Union's playoff performances have fallen off in the last dozen or so years while Ithaca has continued to remain relatively strong (granted no more National Championships, but impressive none the less).  Ithaca has no reason to hang their heads, they remain an extremely strong example of what NE D3 football should be.

God, was that painful to say.....I feel dirty.

If Union wins out, they will be at the very least a #4 seed with a win over Salisbury which rolled Fisher....if Union loses to Salisbury, your ranking looks about right.
