It's been great reading this! dlip loves when the E8 board starts talking ****! Honestly it will probably be better for the East and E8 as a whole for Alfred to win the game. Like many have said we know the results of SJF vs solid OOC teams, with Alfred you still have a bit of an unknown that if they run the table could earn the East a #1 seed and keep MUC the **** out! Who knows dlip is torn on this one. There is something he likes about SJF he just can't put a finger on it. No question though that the classiest posters on this entire site come from Alfred. Who the **** knows??? dlip hoping for a new game. **** both teams are lucky Girardi isn't the coach. He would change ****in QB's every down of every possession throughout the entire game. Dick!

Here are the results in play-offs only:

SJF is 7-4 against OOC competition in the play-offs (including 3 ECAC contests against Cortland, RPI and Husson) since 2003  Did not use 1 additional play-off contest that was against conference foe Springfield.

They compiled that record by an average score of 27-19 against the likes of Rowan, Union, Cortland, MUC, Muhlenberg, Del Val, etc...

I would be proud to have them represent the East again, if they earn it of course by running the table.

I think you're missing the point dude, we're talking about this year only. This year they are 0-2 vs. solid OOC teams. Alfred is 0-0.... which is no better, but there is certainly potential there.

Do you have any reason to believe they'd perform better against Salisbury or MUC in November?

Salisbury yes, MUC no...

Salisbury was a complete cluster-****...

Injuries, mistakes and Salisbury's ability to capitalize on those mistakes got the best of them during the 2nd half...

Salisbury scored with under 30 seconds left to go up by 18, I think it would be a much closer contest now...

MUC, no...noone from the East will fare better against MUC.

Salisbury wont be in the play-offs, but yes, IF SJF had to replay Salisbury in Nov., that would necessarily mean that they are on at least a 6 or 7 game win streak and hopefully would not still be snapping balls out of their own endzone and putting 4-5 balls on the turf like in the first game.

As far as 'this yr versus past' argument.  I understood his point about this year's records.  However, many posters have made clear that the history of these teams in the play-offs does matter.  If SJF runs the table this year, having beaten AU and IC, then coupled with their solid East play-off track record, I feel they would be a good rep for the East.

Obviously, the Rowan's, Kean's etc will be heard from on this topic come November as well.

Quote from: Upstate on October 20, 2009, 09:40:21 AMI've never taken that stance that SJF is the new perennial power, I think they have to get through another recruiting class first and make the playoffs a few times in the post Faggiano era...

I know.  All in good fun.  You just need regulate some of the youngin's on the "glory" days of Fisher Football

I think I should point out again that I did correct myself. Fisher had a good run for a few years, so I changed to say former power.
Great stuff on the boards today. I love it.
GO FISHER!!!

Fishers kicking game is weak and I believe this is going to hurt them this week.

I am thinking this game will be a close one.

No question...I already posted that their specs will be the demise of their season...could be this week.

So Ty, if AU beats SJF and IC beats AU, will IC still be badder than SJF?

sjfcards

I think this AU/Fisher game has some people fired up. I can not wait for it. Should be one of the great ones this season. I'll go with the homer pick and take Fisher 27-24. The score is assuming Fisher does not miss an extra point, which may be an ambitious thought.

I have said before that I think AU may be the class of the entire East Region this year, but I am pulling for Fisher to pull this one out.
GO FISHER!!!

I, too, am lookomg forward to this saturday's game in
Pittsford.  Pep, I will look you up on the home side.  Though I don't really want to sit over there, it is probably my best bet considering my physical condition.  But, on to other concerns.  I have been faithfully watching Alfred teams since 1993.  I have missed ONE home game in the last ten years and have attended many away games   (Ithaca, Fisher, Hartwick...) during the same period and this may be the best Alfred team I have seen.  That being said, the Saxons have shown a tendency to fade in the tougher games at season's end, though we did handle Fisher at home last year in a tough, tough game that either team could have won.  Best of luck to both teams and

Onward Saxons

Love ya Upstate but no way. He said she said ****, SJF got vibrated by a mediocore Salisbury team. SJF had their chance to win the game and got homogonized like ****in milk. dlip could look back at Muhlenburg for the Dutch and be like...wellllll we could have....or if we played them now.... No way, a **** ass Mules team beat the Dutch period just like a mediocore off year team like the Gulls beat SJF. nothing else to discuss.

I hear you Dlip but would you not agree that teams at times lose games to a team you know they are better than?  Like when Ithaca lost to Curry last year in the playoffs, a team they should have beat by at least three scores...It happens.  It was a close game even into the 4th quarter despite Fisher repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot, and Salisbury pulled away at the very end.  I'm not arguing Fisher should have won the game, they played like crap and deserved to lose, but I also wouldn't argue Salisbury is the better team which is what it seems people are suggesting.
