It starts with my addition to the IC/Wick discussion about Wick not getting respect for their 07 year (that's what it was about even if that wasn't explicitly stated) and the IC double standard (which I think they know exists, but hey why knock it when you've got the long end of the stick).  It was all about Curry, but in addition, Wick lost to WNEC and gave up 68pts to Utica before losing to Curry, so a comprehensive view would suggest that Wick wasn't the best representative of the conference in the playoffs that year, but nonetheless played within the rules everyone agreed to in the conference, won enough important games to get there and deserved that accolade.

Subsequently, one of these children (and instead of going through all of this, my response should've been "Child Please") said, "oh yeah, well in 1997, when I was eight years old, and Hobart was just building up to what they are today and weren't even looked at for an ECAC game, we beat you by one point".  Then instead of trying to explain, justify or comment on a schedule on par with a high school team this person tried to tear down Hobart's schedule, idiotically ignoring that the point of the conversation is discussing the games one can control, namely OOC games.

There's a synopsis.

wittle punkin... I played in that game too... with our back up qb starting against you and your "stud" db that talked smack all game after getting toasted over and over again

And Im here to tell you!!! Hartwick would have a HECK of a record if they had a high school schedule... i would even go as far to say they might dominate.... tell big frechy i said hello

I made a leap on your period and that's my bad.  That DB, Tyrea, would hit the hell out of people, but was not very fundamentally sound.  Let's just say that was his last year in college.  He did talk too much, but he did hurt some people on the field too.  He was by no means a stud football player though.  The other DB was a FR and the safety was ok but not a great player.

I hope you're out of tuch on Frenchy.  He died a couple of years ago.  Nice guy, but you just can't be that big throughout life and avoid health problems.

Lew, I have trouble editing long quotes.  The text keeps jumping to the top, so sometimes I try to cut out parts and that's when the s**t hits the fan.

no kiddin... i'm sorry to hear about frenchy... theres big and theres just too big... thats too bad.  i just remember he used to drink out of a pitcher instead of a cup

Lew, you might be right.  I was a FR his senior year and didn't keep up with him after college.  I thought I had heard he died of a heart attack, but I just know he passed on.

I can remember him coming to Saga (our cafeteria) as a senior living off campus (no need to eat there) and bringing ziplock baggies and filling them with food (generally I remember pizza slices getting dropped in).

I was making fun of ty, not you.

Let me revise: IC posters can't say anything about IC, any other team, or any other POSTER without BoSox crowing about respect.

I made a subtle comment about losing at home being worse than losing away that turned into this... just an opinion comment... i was not crowing about respect... then i was just reacting to other comments... and please make comments about punkin... i promise i wont say a word

To change it up a bit....do any E8 guys honestly see Springfield leaving the conference?

Back when I played, Springfield was a decent D2 along with neighbor AIC and many years later joined the E8.  I don't see them leaving the E8 even though the travel sucks.  The LL will not accept the Pride for the same reason they turned down Ithaca.  Would Springfield enter the ECFC or NEFC.....God I hope not, I have too much respect for the history of that program.

They were in a crappy NE (FFC) conference before coming to the E8.  I can see them going back, in fact I would prefer it so the E8 can get Port, Cortland and Buff State in.

Interesting topic about SC in the E8.  I agree with U89 though from what I sense talking to guys from that program.  They want to be in the best football situation possible.  Springfield football is a storied program with a lot of history.  They could have stayed or joined any of those other football programs if they wanted to.  But SC is like Union, Ithaca or Hobart.  They put a lot of stock into their football program, even though its d3.

It's all a function of how much dough John Cena wants to pony up over the next few years for the school.

Good point....the Freedom Football Conference sucked, I forgot about them.  The FFC was still better than the two existing New England conferences.

BoSox...you fell into what is called a trap.  I do it often.  You make some undebateable opinion/comment...on a.....OPINION/COMMENT board....and then these vultures like maxpower, u89 and some others, immediately take what you say out of context, or they make up their own opinion and they declare themselves almighty, despite you never having disagreed with them, and then you react....like WTF....I never said that (but its too late)...they are good at what they do on here...and then 4 pages later, 5 other vultures who havent read any of the posts swoop in because they smell a carcas to be picked over and they know they can grab some Karma while they are at it....its ok though....like Max said....just pout for a couple days like I did, change your name and come back.

Its like a 12 step....you'll recover.

Pep remembers Springfield in its D2 days and often played AIC twice in a season to make up for a lack of D2 programs in New England. Springfield and AIC were often on the Ithaca schedule and Pep believes that solid competition helped IC in the long run in its becoming a stellar program.

Pep doesn't see Springfield leaving the E8 anytime soon. It seems like a good fit...they are certainly in the mix this year and even have tied for the E8 title. It's a challenging conference for The Pride but one in which they can be successful.

Pep also sees Salisbury and Frostburg being temps in the E8, helping to maintain an AQ, but then bolting for the new conference based in the nation's Capital. But perhaps there will be some movement by SUNY members of the NJAC in the future, who knows?

Did I really just read three pages of Hobart vs. Hartwick?  Weirdest debate ever.  How'd that even happen?

Springfield was the only team to beat the 1991 Bombers in their national title run. Man, AIC brings back memories. Those games were always classics and usually the toughest game on IC's schedule.

Springfield's got a heck of a history, although the triple option makes them run a bit hot and cold. Usually, they're either great or below-average. This year it's looking like they'll be a real tough out, especially up there.

I was a little suprised they haven't gone spread.  But after seeing Georgia Tech this year, I kind of changed my mind.
