No more Rogans?!?

Ya know what, some of the best pizza in the world is Rogans at 3am on a Friday night.  It had its own taste like Dominos that made it different from the rest.  What happend up there?  That was the perfect spot for a store/pizza place.

And what is the Coddington called now?  Is that the same food?  I know it changed but is it at all the same?

And Im pissed at myself for not getting a slice there all those times Ive visited since Ive graduated.

Jose Q,

The FDC may soon need an official spokesperson & legal counsel.

Or there's the other side of the coin

http://www.ithaca.edu/ithacan/articles/0610/05/opinion/6first_dow.htm

It's official... we are a legit organization.  Once faculty w/ tenure start to complain about you... you know your on the right path.

But, Aren't there better things to protest about @ IC these days...

Whatever happened to the good ole days of breaking into the admissions office to protest dinning services?

Or staging a "die in" to show that the whole Iraq thing was all just "blood for oil"

Uncle Dave is Angry that you would attck his beloved group!

Positive Cheers Only

Punchin in and putting my actual clients on the back burner to address this.

tecmo, great letter, glad uncle dave didn't write it, why did rogans close? it looked like a gold mine to me every time i went in !

Tecmo: Outstanding letter.  That other guy just regurgitated the same argument you hear three or four times a year.  I am actually surprised the Ithacan had space to run Tecmo's letters given their usual propensity to fill the paper with cutting stories about eating disorders.  I think Tecmo has set the right tone. (Which is appropriate given that he is the FDC's founder and leader).  Let's just keep doing what we are doing.  The people that have a problem with specific cheers are never going to be totally appeased.  Hopefully the FDC will continue to grow and prosper, even when the founders and I (I don't want to take credit for something I jumped into after graduation) have gotten old enough that we had to move to the lower bleachers.

As for Rogans, the Ithacan story just says the current tenants left.  In fact, the Rogans (who are the landlords, not the proprietors of the establishment) said they expect it to be re-opened in two weeks.  There is a reference to some "attorney brothers" that have picked up the lease.  JoseQViper has a sneaking suspicion he knows who they are.  I will investigate further.  Anyway, no worries, sheet pizzas all around.  899 Forever!

I'd like to say something about beer league softball.  I had a double header tonight and I am the youngest guy by like 10 years on the team.  Now maybe I am just too competative but the guy who plays third(our coach) should want to win right?  Well, he sticks me in LC, yes LC.  Not a single ball was hit to me while he booted 3 balls and cost us the game.  I am a third baseman.  He let me play 1 inning where I climbed the fence to catch a foul ball then took me out becaus ehe didn't wnt me to show him up.  I guess my question is, does winning come after pride or should he want to put the best players on the field????  I am a tad bitter and told him to have a nice day in not those terms after the game.

Oh man, I had the same problem this summer with my team!!  League rule was you can have 4 guys under 30 on the team.  There was a try-out for the four spots.  9 guys tried out and I made it in as a shortstop.  Well come to find out the captain was the shortstop. It was like i made an attempt to take the spot from jeter. problem was i was better but he has been in the spot for 15 years. (gulp)  so i rode the pine for the first 8 games.  getting in late in teh 7th inning when we were up or down by 8.  Finally the team, after continuesly asking why ICDubbz isnt in, voted him out of captainship and let one of the under 30's take over.  Dubbz was worked in and got his starting spot at 2B.  I later tore my hamstring in 3 places, played in the playoffs, and had the game winning hit in our quarter-final game, that would have been a HR if i could of ran but was only a double.   that catapolted us to the semi's,  the furthest the team had ever went!!  So, basically, next year, guarenteed starting spot!

Sorry for the rant boys,  B27 got me going and its been the mornign from H-E-double hockey sticks!  (gotta say that stuff around the youth of america).

Positive cheers...... go bombers!!

AUPepBand

With all of this support, however, comes responsibility. I'd like Mr. Rankins to know that there is a large emphasis placed on keeping our cheers clean and positive. Many of the group's members are now alumni who continue to have a great deal of pride for Ithaca College. The actions of individuals yelling profanities or offensive statements are shunned, not applauded by the majority of the group. A debate about what language is considered "vulgar" and what is mainstream is for another time. I can assure you, though, that promoting an enthusiastic, positive environment for all is a high priority for us collectively as a group, and I sincerely apologize if you found anything to be offensive.

Tecmo: Well stated. As a lifelong AU fan, AUPepBand remembers the days when 75% of the AU student body attended football games. In fact, students sat on what is now the visitors' side with bleachers at field level from goal line to goal line. Filled for every game I remember. Visitors were seated on right side of grandstand behind team bench, townspeople & families sat on left side behind AU team bench. With change in drinking age, prohibition of alcohol in stadium (due no doubt to our litigious-leaning culture), elimination of ROTC on campus, no marching band and other factors, students do not attend games as they once did.

AU Pep Band was founded with intent of making football games more enjoyable, involve more students, stir up the spirit, etc. First Down Club appears to have similar purpose. AUPepBand applauds the FDC efforts....and its emphasis on promoting an enthusiastic, positive environment. Hope to see a good representation of FDC at Merrill Field....will investigate FDC tailgate options, keep you posted.

As for tecmo's article, brilliant!  get that man a guiness!  Its a good thing we approached it in that manner... i like how you pointed out that the president of the university wears our T-shirt!  Hopefully she will write in and say we are great and that a "you suck" cheer heard 3 times throughout a game is ok!  Have any of these people ever gone to the other hill for a Hockey game!??  You dont have any articles being written about fish being thrown on the ice, goalies GF's being called Ho's and other profanities, wave goodbyes as the player skates to the penalty box followed by a unanimous "see yah A-whole! you lose!, or perhaps the full and complete song of "Hey, you suck, we're gonna beat the H-E-L-L outta you F&#$ em up F*&# em up go CU!"

maninyellowhat

Well said buddy.

Think we were really that awkward as freshmen?

F*ing lawyers.  Who needs 'em.  Oh wait.  Litigious-leaning culture puts food on Defense Counsel's table (e.g. JoseQViper).

Thanks for the backup dubbz, always can count on you.

Great letter, I don't think you'll hear anything from P Dub though

Rogan's Corner hasn't actually been Rogan's Corner for a couple years.... it's been King Sub since I was a sophomore or junior. I doubt a change in ownership will plunge the quality downhill, it actually brought it up last time.

theicdubbz

That is true,  after that happened i can admit i stopped going there for my 3am pizza treat.  Also with Sammys entering the market i have no doubt that hurt htem a bit.

Hitting 100 posts today boys!!

So nobody has really mentioned the Fisher game this weekend against Brockport.  I know Brockport kept it close against Cortland who many seem to think is better than Fisher, so how will they fair againt the Cardinals?  I know everybody talks about their line and how big they are, but are there any other X factors that could decide this game?

bomber27

I guess its short stops when im up there.  Hope i don't get mugged..

To me, that game is only worthy of discussion if Lynch plays.  IC was great last week but, I am not sure how much of a measuring stick the game was because 'Port's best play didn't play at all.  So, if Lynch is still suspended (maybe the "indefinite" nature of his suspension was shortened by Rocco after watching his team play without Lynch) Fisher wins in a rout.  If he does play, it could be a good comparator for relative strength of some teams in the East.
