I hope, along with other AU rooters (and I will be there Saturday) that our boys are not thinking about anything but Albright.  Susquehanna's game wiill resolve as it resolves.  Let's just contain ourselves and take care of business at Merrill Field!!

On Saxon Warriors!!

Good luck Saxons!

BTW anyone else hear the rumor that Secky is planning to transfer to SJF after the season?

Well, if he wants to beat IC, getting out of an Alfred uniform and into a Fisher one would help...

Wonder if Coach Vos would let the Saxons borrow Fisher's uniforms for Alfred's 2011 visit to Butterfield Stadium....just a thought.   ???

Pep recalls being asked, by LL fans, how Susquehanna looked, as AU scrimmaged at Selinsgove back in late August. Pep is too lazy to go back and see what he said but remembers something along the line that they had a solid QB and RB and could be a contender for the LL title. Similar to what Kickoff had to say, for those who read that.

Interesting, Kickoff also featured a story about Alfred and how this could be the Saxons' year to emerge as a participant in the NCAAs after several years of knocking at the door.

Now Pep is hoping that the Saxons don't settle for just "making it to the NCAAs" but prove themselves to be true contenders, not pretenders. Stay tuned.

On Saxon Warriors!

Kickoff called sasquatch's LL trophy smash and grab from day one.

And beyond that, the gurus ranked Alfred 27th coming into the season which is exactly where they sit in the Top 25 voting after week 11!

They should be higher I think ... 1 loss only at IC ...

No offense to IC but that's really not a legitimate caveat this year...

SJF went into IC and hung 40 on them (should have been 50)...

I would guess the only caveat he was making was their one loss was to a 7-3 team...IC struggled at one point, but played very well their last two games.  They weren't world beaters...but man, when a down year is 7-3...

It goes a bit beyond their record...

At no time were they impressive during the season, usually they'll go on a 4-5 game stretch where they're dominant but at no time did they put together anything like that...

I thought beating an undefeated Alfred and Cortland to end the season after some bad losses was pretty impressive.

Yanks, you're also sort of making a circular argument. You're sort of saying "Well, Alfred lost to Ithaca, but Ithaca was pretty good because they beat an undefeated Alfred."

I think Alfred's OOC slate determined their ranking a lot more than their 8-1 record.

Just going by OWP, Ithaca's schedule was #4, Fisher was #8, Springfield was #24, Wick was #59, Alfred was #109 and Utica was #138 (I know OOWP plays into how good those meaningful those rankings are, but there's no ranking of those that I can see)

Alfred's season didn't really start until Week 4, and without any real preseason hype, it took them a long time to get traction. And then their loss came to an obviously struggling IC team the week after they got blown out by Springfield.

I really hope Alfred wins a couple of games in the NCAA's this year, and can maybe start the season ranked highly next year.

I was simply arguing that Ithaca looked impressive in their last two games of the year.  I hope Alfred does well in the playoffs...I am not even really arguing where they are ranked in the d3football.com Top 25...I don't put too much stock in these type of national polls when very few teams play against each other.  #25 sounds about right...but you wouldn't hear much arguement from me if they were ranked in the top 10 either.  It's all subjective.

Ithaca always seems to get better as the season goes on. It seems the last several years, IC has a bad loss, or two early, and then plays really well the rest of the way. By the end of the year, they are usually one of the better teams in the region. Good coaching I guess. This year, IC did not really get rolling, but they looked good the last two weeks of the season, and I think AU's loss to IC is, if nothing else, it is understandable, with AU having two weeks to wrap up the league.

I am getting more and more excited about the Fisher/C-State game this weekend. I think the game will be a tough one, but if Fisher can play the way they have the last two games they should take care of business and finish the season strong. This game could make Fisher fans officially excited about next year.
