Haha! That would have been the OmniTurf they initially installed...that was two surfaces ago!
That was replaced by AstroTurf5 in perhaps early '90s, then upgraded to AstroTurf12 in 1999.

Nevertheless, Pep will cut out a piece for ya, 91....you will need to come to Merrill Field to pick it up....perhaps on Oct. 23?

91: Who were you playing for? Pep believes the first meeting between St. John Fisher and Alfred was in 1992, a 24-6 Saxon win.

I believe St. John Fisher was club then, so a game against Alfred wouldn't (or shouldn't) be on Alfred's books. Scrimmage?

Looks like AU hs 130 coming in with a heavy emphasis (no suprise) on defense...

"The New York all-state recruits are Stephon Brown and Michael Hogan, defensive tackles from Syracuse; Joe McMurry, tailback from Hudson Falls; Dustyn Power, linebacker from Victor; David Lee Tack, free safety from Newark; Pat Teta, defensive lineman from Avon; Chris Gibbs, defensive back from Whitesboro; Derek O'Dell, tailback from Haldane; Austin Dwyer, tailback from Hornell; Matt Hettenbaugh, defensive back, and Matt Lundsten, linebacker, both from Randolph; Steve Kijowski, linebacker from North Tonawanda; Andrew Wascher, defensive end from Jamestown; Ian Halloran, running back from Eldred; and Brandon Yarnes, strong safety from Portville."

If you want to read the details of the AU class...

Pep heard last count was 133 newcomers...and likely 75 returning to the Saxon Pre-Season Camp. Pep is reminded, however, that last he knew, a team could have only 11 players on the field at a time.

Miami and Notre Dame are renewing their Rivalry of the 80's and 90's...  Only this time around, instead of playing for National Championship contentions, they will most likely be playing for a third tier bowl game sometime before Christmas which Notre Dame will turn down and Miami use as an opportunity will trounce McNease State once again...

Catholics vs Convicts in the second era...

Since the boards are dead... What type of future does USC hold?

I think this is the last straw... I have a good feeling all those Sunshine state prospects will start moving to ASU, AU, and Oregon State... Or maybe even a little further to Texas or OU...

I dont think that Kiffin has much of a chance.  I think the team he inherited at UT was better than their record lead everyone to believe.  He just simply had to provide some or any guidance and a little fight against Florida and his season would be considered a success not matter what the record.

I hope USC fails miserably this season for the sole fact that they can't compete for a National Championship so I dont want to hear all the speculation asking "well what if USC was allowed to be ranked or into the postseason.."  I feel bad for the athletes who actually went their for the tradition of being a Trojan.  But as I learned at AU, laws that govern the majority are defined by the actions of the simple minority...

USC will be fine.  Look at their 2010 schedule:

at Hawaii  (easy win)
Virginia (easy win)
at Minnesota (win - SC has killed Big 10 teams of late, certainly will do the same even on the road)
at Wazoo (easy win)
Washington (Dawgs are improved, Locker is good but likely another USC win, esp at home)
at Stanford  (could lose this one, but given losses to graduation not sure Stan Harbaugh will be as strong in '10)
California  (will be close but home field helps SC, not sure who Cal is bringing back, going with a win)
Oregon  (probably loss but home field helps)
Arizona State  (win)
at Arizona (potential loss, but could win in revenge of last season's debacle at the Coliseum)
at Oregon State (given the Trojans track record in Corvallis I am going with a L)
Notre Dame  (win)
at UCLA  (win)

Based on these assumptions USC goes 9-4 worst case scenario, more likely 11-2 (could see SC beating AZ and/or the Farm).  TGP will go with 10-3 to split the difference.

If they go 11-2 or even 12-1 you may hear the "what if" scenarios, but I doubt most CFB shows will spend too much time on this given its a moot point.

nope....Was Fisher's second game, in second season of DIII.  This also happened to be 82's first road trip as a Freshman.  82 held the clipboard tracking offensive plays for the game film as the 5th receiver.  Freshman WR Chris Fronzcak scored our only TD in the second half on a 60something yard bomb into double coverage.

Always have fond memories of AU's Merrill Field because it was my first 'roadtrip'.
