USC will be fine.  Look at their 2010 schedule:

at Hawaii  (easy win)
Virginia (easy win)
at Minnesota (win - SC has killed Big 10 teams of late, certainly will do the same even on the road)
at Wazoo (easy win)
Washington (Dawgs are improved, Locker is good but likely another USC win, esp at home)
at Stanford  (could lose this one, but given losses to graduation not sure Stan Harbaugh will be as strong in '10)
California  (will be close but home field helps SC, not sure who Cal is bringing back, going with a win)
Oregon  (probably loss but home field helps)
Arizona State  (win)
at Arizona (potential loss, but could win in revenge of last season's debacle at the Coliseum)
at Oregon State (given the Trojans track record in Corvallis I am going with a L)
Notre Dame  (win)
at UCLA  (win)

Based on these assumptions USC goes 9-4 worst case scenario, more likely 11-2 (could see SC beating AZ and/or the Farm).  TGP will go with 10-3 to split the difference.

If they go 11-2 or even 12-1 you may hear the "what if" scenarios, but I doubt most CFB shows will spend too much time on this given its a moot point.

**Cough cough** You put a "w" next to the Notre Dame game?!

But fair played, it seems very plausable that they could end up topping off the Pac-10... So what happens with that? I mean, I know they can't go to a bowl and they can't be ranked, but can they still technically win the Pac-10 this upcoming year?

The NCAA has nothing to say about conference championships.  I've not heard whether the Pac-10 has sanctioned USC (or whether, seeking clemency from the NCAA, USC has added that sanction themselves).

Oh wow, I didnt realize it was the conference that ultimately controlled the championship... Thanks!

IMO Weis hasn't proven he can assemble a defense capable of stopping SC (or any top offense), so until he does, I expect ND to continue to lose games to the Trojans.

As for the Pac 10 - USC could win it - and that's basically all they are playing for at this point.  There have been no reports out here (I live in LA) re Pac 10 sanctions on SC.

Of course if SC runs the table they couldn't represent the conference in the Rose Bowl, but so it goes.  Still, a silver lining is there in that they could be named the 2010 Pac 10 champs (obviously the upperclassmen are also playing for NFL draft consideration).

That said, Oregon is bringing back almost everyone from a very solid team that won the Pac 10 and fell just short in the BCS RB (give credit to OSU's D on playing a great game).  They are the team to beat in my book...

Even though Weis is long gone, his recruiting class isn't.  He lacked to bring in a core defensive set but Kelly will certainly make up for his errors.  The Weish recruiting class was always ranked pretty high but a recent switch to the 3-4 could be exactly what UND needs.  What they lacked in size, they will make up for in speed and strength (exactly the basis of a west coast offense).

As for the Pac-10... With the dismissal of Masoli at QB, it could be another confused opening season for the Ducks (reminiscient of last years meltdown at Boise State).  Hopefully what they lack in discipline, they make up for in talent. Otherwise, they will have buried a deep hole before they even get to their toughest games of the season.

I believe St. John Fisher was club then, so a game against Alfred wouldn't (or shouldn't) be on Alfred's books. Scrimmage?

nope....Was Fisher's second game, in second season of DIII.  This also happened to be 82's first road trip as a Freshman.  82 held the clipboard tracking offensive plays for the game film as the 5th receiver.  Freshman WR Chris Fronzcak scored our only TD in the second half on a 60something yard bomb into double coverage.

Always have fond memories of AU's Merrill Field because it was my first 'roadtrip'.

Actually, it was already agreed that 91 was talking about soccer. :)

unless I misunderstood the exchange between you, Pep and Pat....Pep commented that the first meeting between AU and SJF was a AU victory 24-6 in '92.  Pat responded that his recollection was that SJF was Club then.

My post clarified that Pep was dead-on (as usual) with the first meeting being in '92 at Merrill Field and further clarified that SJF was in fact D3 at that point.

I thought SJF went D3 in football in '91 (but in any event I am certain they were D3 in '92 when they played AU) going 0-9 and scoring only 12 poInts (2 TD's ) all year.  That was the year of their infamous 73-0 loss to Cortland that was even reported in Sport Illustrated at the time.  That was also Vosburgh's first year having taken the team over in August, just before camp.
