Pep went through a pot of coffee last night....pulled an all-nighter...20-page newspaper due to the printer at 2 p.m. today....finally took a "nap" from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., then started the day. Working at the library tonight til 11....perhaps it's time to put on another pot!

tell your source to come up with good news next time.

sweet lord that sucks

WELL.....he did invite me to go play golf at a very nice club on Thurs. following delivering the bad news.

labart96

If you look down in the comments section there is a mention (albeit its hearsay and not confirmed) that it was Freshman hazing related.

What I found interesting is the guilty parties included all 4 team CAPTAINS.....not to mention the fact that Coach Welch said "he's not worried about the team's leadership going forward."

Maybe these kids have learned their lesson, but that's a dubious way to start the season...

fisheralum91

82- that is wonderful for you and I hope he loses a doz. ProV-1's but sheeeesh....
To give it a golf perspective- In a scramble- you always biuld a team that will give you numerous different looks and choices!

I'll add that according to the Ithacan, one more player (making it 7 total) was suspended by the team.  There was also this...

Welch declined to comment on what team rule the players violated and if any other players were involved because of the "privacy of the student athletes."

All of which just adds to the questions.

Well, all I will say to that is its never good to go into a game shorthanded.  Granted, they probably deserved the suspension, so it has to be done.

Reminds Pep of Murray's first season at Alfred when AU cancelled its season-opener against...Susquatch. Mind you, it was not a forfeit, but a cancellation. President Coll's first inclination was to cancel the entire season but ended up being a bit more reasonable. Nevertheless, Pep recalls a few starters (perhaps a captain or two?) had to sit out several games as well.

This could put a damper on the Ithaca season but the Bombers will likely be in full stride when they meet the Saxons on the new FieldTurf at Merrill Field in November.

SLU's new Coach, Raymond, used to coach at IC and certainly knows their system and personnel...if SLU doesn't commit 5 turnovers like they did last season, they'll at least have a shot at pulling off the upset...

Still, highly unlikely, but I'm a LL guy so LET'S GO LARRIES!!!

fisheralum91

wow.
not good news all the way around.
though fisher does have a lot of weapons and now going into the season can focus on the positive.
IC on the other hand has to deal with some poo--internal poo - that of which smell lingers a few games........

sjfcards

Wow I was having a good night, and then I find out the news about Zemaitis. That is a real blow to Fisher. I feel even worse for Zemaitis since he seems to be a realy good kid, and obviously a good athlete. That is a killer. Let's hope the always reliable source just got one wrong.

I saw something that surprised me on kickoff when I was reading up on Brockport. They had the 8th best offense in the country last year? That is suprising to me. Hopefully that Fisher D comes to play.

I think IC will be fine. They go short handed this weekend, but it is only one game, and they are playing at home against SLU. A tough hilll to climb for SLU no matter what the situation. It is nice to see that Welch has the stones to make such a move. If SLU does pull it off that could spell bad things for this season for the Bombers.
GO FISHER!!!

Well, hadn't seen this mentioned yet on the board, so I figured I would.  Six projected Bomber starters including 4 team captains have been suspended for this week's season opener against St. Lawrence.  Reason given was an unspecified 'violation of team rules.'

wow!  that's some scoop....thx for the update k+

yes it is.....
and it wasnt meant to pick a fight---just nudge a conversation

Any other year, I might be able to give an opinion, but I haven't even opened Kickoff yet so I'm not really a good source on Brockport.  Sorry! -- Anything Kickoff has to say about them is 100 times better than anything I can muster up.

dlip concurs with TGP here and will be pulling for the Larries at Butterfield. Obviously the Bombers are still the heavy favorite but SLU has been known to occasionally surprise some tougher opponents (usually in league play). DOnt see it happening though. Even though dlip is a SLU guy for the week...IC 27 SLU 7
