I hate when teams have a week off at the end of the season. I like a bye somewhere around week 6. Otherwise nagging injuries just never go away.

I heard the offense and defense got into it at practice a little last week. No report on punches thrown but I hear it was spirited.

And a welcome to touch the rock. It is nice to see some blue blood back on the boards.

HA, good...

I love a little spice at practices...

My senior year (03) after a close loss to RPI where the offense played horrible, we were having a heated practice and then all of a sudden a LBer tackles a WR all the way to the ground.  The WR took exception, got up and threw the ball at the LBers head.  They start throwing hay makers then both the offensive and defensive players started rushing at each other and a huge brawl broke out.  By far the best practice ever!!!

I know fighting at football camps at every level is not that unusual. I love that the players have some fire going. I bet at this point players on every team are just itching to be let off the leash.

I always got worried if there wasn't a fight during camp.  You've got guys fighting for jobs day after day against the same guys, it's only natural.  And these guys have been practicing for 3 weeks now.  Teams like IC who didn't have a scrimmage against another team are just itching to hit another color.  But, until then, they hit each other.

Is there any downside to a fight at camp? I played hockey in hIgh school and soccer at Fisher and never had  a fight at camp. It must be a fine line coaches toe.

Not really.  I mean, you don't want your O and D fighting every other series, but a fight is 99% of the time a good thing.  The only downside can be timing.  When you're practicing like the 2 minute drill  during a game week and it's a real time pressed and a situation where the team needs practice.  Coaches aren't likely to enjoy that, but I think even deep down they love seeing that their team has some fight in them.

Cards- I dont know about you- but back in the day---87.....We had fights at practice and on gameday --Soccer team went 1-19 that year....deep down i think Coach Savidis liked the fire in the belly ----didnt like getting spanked every game but ill tell ya this- those bench clearers were fun esp against Naz! Also helped freshmen like me get pt when starters got benched!
