I'll tell you what Upstate...I will admit that Curry's schedule had no bearing on that game if you admit that the Bill's coming to town had a direct impact on SJF all of a sudden getting good... :o

I've never argued against that...

There are two reasons why I went to SJF...

They could get me in and the Bills...

They pumped up the facilities, that brought in better players...

Better players = more wins, more wins = even better players, even better players = even more wins...

It's really not that hard to figure out...

Wow...I will in all seriousness give you a ton of credit.  You are pretty much the first Fisher fan on these boards to ever admit that.  Amazingly enough, I agree with your above assessment 100%.  I actually never understood why Fisher fans ran from the above statement.  I have gone on record more then once to say I wish the Bills had gone to Oneonta and done exactly what they have done to help your program turn into what it is today.

My Week 4:

Wilkes 28 Pootica 13 - Can't use the SC game as bench mark. Triple option is really hard to stop especially when its the first time seeing it. A pee wee team could hang 50+ on Becker and Castleton.

That "Pee-Wee" team hung 42 on RPI last weekend. Wilkes, correct me if I'm wrong, also allowed 35 points and 452 yards to Waynesburg in Week 1. So I'm not exactly sold that Wilkes could stop anyone. Wilkes' offense didn't exactly look impressive putting up 190 yards last week either

Never called Utica a pee wee team, just downplayed their recent scoring explosion.

RPI (1-1) is weak- squeaked by endicott by 3 pts. Becker (0-3)- outscored 154-32 in their first 3 games, enough said. Castleton (1-1)- 2nd year program playing with mostly underclassmen.

Fishers success can absolutely be attributed to the Bills but it's not as simple as the Bills being there, there are other factors that helped the process.  The Bills COO is a SJF alum and played football and baseball there, he was a driving force along with the SJF President at the time (Keough).  The administration made a huge commitment to the athletic department when deciding to bring the Bills in.   Everyone has benefited from it at Fisher, the athletes and the general population at Fisher because of the upgrades around the campus.

I wanted NOTHING to do with the program because coming out of High School in 1997 (pre-Bills) the facilities were sad to say the least.  I loved the coaches but the school just wasn't appealing.  After bouncing around a while I came for a visit again (post-Bills) and was blown away with the transformation.

I graduated in 2003 and I drove on campus last week and was blown away with the changes yet again.  I can drive onto Brockports campus (i live 5 minutes away) and it looks almost the same as it did in 1997 when I graduated High School.

Is this bizarro day Upstate?  I again totally agree with what you said about the administration needing to be on board above for everything to fall into place.  Most of the time, especially from my friends that went to SJF, they don't even want to mention that the Bills were the starting/driving force behind the changes that were agreed upon and supported by the administration...which ultimately lead you to where you are today as a program.  Usually I get the "it was just hard work" or "we recruited our a$$es off", etc. as to why there was a fairly sudden transformation from sometimes average to sometimes good team to perennial power in under a decade.  None of which is incorrect...most just seemed insulted (if you will) that I would even mention that the Bills played a big part of the transformation.

Man...I need to stop drinking at lunch time.  Yanks and Upstate seeing eye to eye on things?  I feel like I am taking crazy pills...

Check that out, not just because of the awesome highlights of SJF beating up on Ithaca but the IC guy talks about the Bills being there as a reason for the transformation...

Castleton and Becker are terrible, but 42 on RPI is impressive regardless of it it's a down year. And as I pointed out, Wilkes defense isn't exactly watertight

Pep is thinking maybe SJF should start holding the Cardinals' preseason camp at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park. Perhaps the Fisher success could rub off on that NFL-wannabee currently in residence in Buffalo/Toronto.

Bills havent made playoffs since they moved to Fisher...

Coincidence?

Don't care as long as the Cardinals are doing good!

As a life long Bills fan it pains me to wonder if the WNY region would be better off with out the Bills.  They're a laughing stock and perhaps the lack of constant heartache and ridicule will do the region good.

Sjfcards,

I was on business in the Rochester area and noticed it was lunch and I thought I would venture to St. Johns Fisher. What a beautiful campus. I visited Growney Field. It's a great facility, but where do the visiting fans go? I figure the home side holds about 2,500. It seems like there is a lot going on across the home side. Will they build stands there? Again a very beautiful campus.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Yeah they're building a track and field complex on the visitors side and there will be bleachers facing the field and towards the track when completed...

What's with the see-through runners?

Rob Kramer and Mark Robinson, ghosts of St. John Fisher past, come out of the cornfield to do one last lap around the old (er... new) track...

theoriginalupstate

Yeah if you look at the atrium or landing between the field on the right you'll see a ton of ghost like people...

I don't think that there is any doubt that the Bills have had a major impact on the rise of the Fisher football program, but I think a lot of the Bills impact is indirect. For example, when I was looking at schools, I was choosing between playing Hockey or Soccer, and it basically came down to Elmira (Hockey) or Fisher (Soccer). The schools were about even in my mind until I saw the new Stadium that Fisher was building (Growney). It was brand new when I was looking, and as soon as I saw it, I knew where I was going. Now, would the stadium have been built if the Bills had not been involved, maybe, but I am sure they did not hurt the push to build. I could have cared less if the Bills had camp at Fisher or not, but they proably played an indirect roll in my going there.
I am sure a lot of folks are like me, and may not give credit to the Bills specifically for bringing them to Fisher, but whatever the decision factors were have probably been influenced by the Bills in some way.
GO FISHER!!!
