At least this year it's in Alfred, so when we beat you (again) we won't have to hear about how its the field, like we do every time Springfield comes into town... ;)

Realized this morning that Alfred doesn't play in the game which affects them the most this saterday.  Perhaps, the band should take a trip up to South Hill and lend our support to the Moose (though I've never left Butter Field happy, so perhaps not).  But in light of this revelation, I'm changing my handle until next week and singing a new song:

On Utica Pioneers,
On to Victoray.
Orange and Blue declare,
The Moose's royaltay. (Rah, rah, rah)
On Utica Pioneers,
O'er every adversitay.
Fight! Fight for Utica,

Pep is always surprised when the Saxons take to the road. Now mind you, the band missed TWO CONSECUTIVE ROAD GAMES (Hartwick and RPI) and no doubt would have made the difference at RPI (Coach Murray says the band is always good for 7 points for AU), but Pep is pleased with the way AU travels. There ARE alums most everywhere and often show up at games. In addition, the parents follow the Saxons and because AU recruits from all over the state, some away games are closer for parents than home games.

But Pep is still puzzled that the visitor stands were not full at Saterday's game. Where are the Cardinal fans? Where are the Fisher students? Do they follow their team? Mind you, there's not much more to see than the football game for Fisher fans who travel to Alfred, but hey, it's only 75 to 80 minutes away. On the contrary, AU fans/students jump at the chance of "seeing some civilization" when they can and think nothing of making a trip to Rochacha.

It doesn't seem to matter where we play Ithaca, we almost never win.  I just hope we come out with the same intensity we had against Fisher and then execute as well.  Then let the cards fall where they may.  But first let's handle Rochester.

On Saxon Warriors!!

U of RS stud RB was lost for the season with a dislocated elbow that occurred during the Courage Bowl...

Losing him was a huge blow, he was basically their whole team...

Hahahaha reminds me of the King of the Hill episode where Hank and his friends maintain the field for the Arlen High football games... And they gameplan about how to make the other team slower by keeping the sidelines grass longer...

So THAT's how you shut down Sharpe... It had nothing to do with gameplan or skill... It was the landscaping crew...

Respect the Moose! So what you're saying is if Utica beats Ithaca, AU would need only a win over Ithaca OR Utica to take the AQ as there would be no three-way tie. AU gets it on the head-to-head win over Fisher.

Even though your parody is an abomination in Pep's eyes, Pep sees your point and understands your loyalty remains with the purple and gold. +k

Game of the week is UC/IC.
I cant wait for Bomber posters to get back on here after the game and give me their impressions of Blaise's group.
Should be interesting!

That 2006 team Sharpe led got to play a in classic Buttrerfield game. Rain and mud. It was glorious. There's nothing quite like watching a triple-option team flail around when not playing on a surface better suited for a parking lot...

As for why Alfred can't win against IC, I think it's two-fold. The games in Alfred--where the Saxons are stronger--have been in years where the Bombers have had better teams. The 2008 team was better than the 2009 team and the 2004 team was better than the 2005 version. The last time a strong Alfred got a weaker Bomber team at home, 2006, they got the win.

And, unlike the late 90's teams, these Bombers endure hiccups early and then right the ship at the end. I mean, the 2007 team was rolling when you came to town, and the 2009 team put their best effort into the last two games.

Actually, rooting for Utica may be the wrong idea. I think one of the reasons the Bombers played so well against you last season is this whole consecutive winning seasons streak. At 5-3, they knew a loss meant going up against Cortland for that streak. The Red Dragons would love to end it I'm sure. I wonder if you might be better off facing a 6-2 Bomber team than one still trying to get over the five-win mark. Besides, you control your own destiny anyway, so there's no need to scoreboard watch

Onyiriuka had 92 yards on 30 carries in AU's 51-14 win last year.
Onyiriuka had 39 yards on 13 carries in AU's 43-14 win in 2008 at Fauver.
He hadn't done a lot of damage against the Saxons.

Pep was sorry Borum wasn't suited up at Merrill Field. Pep wanted to see him. Nevertheless, Pep doesn't think Borum would have had any better success than Kramer. The guy's the real deal. Pep was tempted to start a chant, "Colgate Reject!" but thought better of it. Top notch player.

Pep- Kramer is indeed legit.
It is nice to know that he is a nice kid to boot.

I'm rooting for IC- Simply because I would like to see a year in which IC is strong, Fisher is strong, and AU is strong.  I want to see AU come out on top of the best in the E8.  I understand UC is gaining momentum but like said before, AU has never beat (minus the forfeit season) AU and SJF in the same year.  IC may not be as strong as in the past but they are still IC...

Yeah, you mentioned that whole "When Alfred beats IC, it's usually said that IC is down," but unfortunately although it may be a bit of a unfair hit to the AU team, it tends to be true. It also tends to be true for most teams that aren't Fisher or Cortland though. And really, doesn't that make sense? All teams are more likely to lose in down years. That's what makes them down years.
